Outside of the US, Canada and Great Britain, Mexico is one of the biggest markets for Xbox. So incredible and heartwarming to see one of the big three finally acknowledging this market with a big triple A event and not just the crumbs that fell from the E3 table.

I don't see PlayStation or Nintendo ever doing something like this here.

Congrats man, happy for you guys.

What a disappointment if they acquired Obsidian.
Obsidian is stifled by it's own shortcomings to acquire significant projects and funding. Imagine what they could do if they had resources and a platform to focus it s on their rpg building. Maybe being bought is exactly what they need to fulfill multiple dream projects.

Could that gamepass/XONE system/live monthly payment plan be announced at this event?

In the context of MS, who've earned themselves a stigma for revealing games too early, that may never see the light of day? Yes it is. Furthermore Playground's Fable may never even come to Xbox One S.

That makes no sense. I would say Sony is just as guilty. God of War, Days Gone, Spider Man all revealed many years before their eventual release. And what about The Last Guardian or Agent.

You can dispute whether it's a reasonable claim or not, but MS has established a reputation for revealing too early, delays, cancelling games, or releasing broken ones. This is relatively common sentiment, which if you've spent your fair share of time here and on Reddit, you would have seen numerous times.

And your examples are fairly flimsy. God of War was shown ~21 months before release, and ultimately came out as one of the best reviewed titles of this generation. Spiderman was ~14 months. And Last Guardian which I'll give you, was a passion project that many had given up hope on, and believed it buried with the PS3 generation. Nothing is as egregious as MS 2014 E3, where Scalebound, Crackdown 3, and Phantom Dust all closed the show - two of which have been cancelled, and the other is only just releasing almost 5 years later in 2019.

I really like Xbox, and delight in their ecosystem and conferences. But there's reason for the stigma, and I think it's easy enough to see why this narrative about Xbox has spread.

I covered these in the past, with the diminished importance of specialised press I figured they would not come back. Surprised they revived it.

Don't agree. They all do it. MS had a lousy output from their 14 announces for sure. But there were reasons why that occurred. If you are constantly going to cite that and say 'MS can't announce games early to excite their fans' then to me that is a bit churlish.

Sony have been announcing stuff without even a release year of late.

Looking forward to it. Hope they show off some amazing games. Personally hoping for some more Halo Infinite.

Seems like PSX, but for Xbox, which is a good thing. Slightly off topic, but are Sony even having a PSX event this December? Normally it's announced by now?

If you want to know then why not just ask him why? Your response to me was a lot better than your response to him.

Thank you but some people don't even deserve an answer. Best to ignore, report and move on.

Same as what happened to Atlus, I wouldn't like to have a developer that I follow and buy games from become an exclusive company. Some say the same thing about Insomniac, in the current landscape. I really doubt people championing the Obsidian acquirement would be happy if Sony bought Insomniac.

And Last Guardian which I'll give you,.

Thank goodness you'll give him that, since literally it was shown for like, 7.5 years. Climate change was partly caused by all the hype posts about that game over years and years and years and years...

And I didn't keep track but wasn't Sony's E3 the last few years God of War, again like last E3, and Days Gone, again, like last E3. I dunno whose games are taking longer but Sony sure blows em out earlier feels like.

And when was TLOU2 first shown? E3 17? So 17, 18, so far. I don't see a release date on wikipedia page. 3 E3's minimum as a fronstage game? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XlGhXNLN7G8 <<2016 video/hype, And no release date still.

Conspiracy theory / my fantasy

Blizzard announces at blizzcon that WoW and WoW classic are coming to xb1 with crossplay between console and pc.

1 week later we see WoW classic gameplay running with k & m on xb1 and xb1x at X0.

Things thats lead me to thinking this
-X0 is 1 week after blizzcon
-blizzcon will most def have some wow classic news
-Phil spencer talking on inside xbox about games that have always been exclusive to pc primarily because of the lack of k&m support on console (WoW could be considered an example of said game - WoW is so optimized it can run on a toaster at 60 fps but it cannot be played at the highest levels with a controller vs k&m).
- K&M support actually being taken seriously (warframe recieving k&m support for preview memebers in oct.)
-crossplay and k&m support introduces less risk for a company like blizzard releasing a game like wow on console; in the past without crossplay or k&m support new realms exclusive to console players would have been required. Now blizzard could just extend the current realms to consoles users etc.

I dont think i need to clarify that this is just a fantasy for me but with that being said a guy can dream :p ive had my fingers crossed for 14 years so a few more months won't hurt.

I need a 4K bluray player.

So for a few more euros I can get an Xbox One S... But this conference could make me buy an X instead. Mmmmh.

It's not an official comment but someone that used to work on the WoW dev team commented that he thought classic would be ready sometime after 2020. It would be nice to have them both available on xb1, they're going to have to have their mod logistics worked out for a console version.

Trying to figure out which would be more likely as a celebratory special edition console:

Xbox One X modelled to look like an original Xbox

or Xbox One X which is transparent

The main thing about the K+M announcement makes me think there will be a big reveal of Age of Empires 4 (probably to come out at the same time of the K+M peripherals) at this conference with gameplay and new trailers etc.

WoW on xbox would definitely be a big thing, also Starcraft could be a thing that is ported with the K+M announcement.

If WoW isn't ported due to size, WoW classic makes sense if blizz decides to port WoW to consoles.

They announced PSX in mid Oct (2014). Mid Aug (2015). Late Sep (2016). June at E3 (2017).

Unpredictable when they will announce PSX. They are recently coming off TGS so give it at least 10 days after TGS or somewhere in Oct.

TGS 2016 was held on Sep 15~18 so give it time.

My expectations for X018

- Further unification on Win10/Xbox. I'm thinking announcing more store compatibility (xbone running windows games and apps, and a new big UI for windows)
- At least 2 acquisitions (Obisidian and a Japanese team, hopefully Mistwalker)
- Crackdown 3
- Announcing at least one long waited series making a return (something like Alan Wake, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Banjo, Conker, Perfect Dark in a very similar announcement as the Battletoads one)
- Previous PC only big games making into Xbox. WoW and LoL would be the dream, but perhaps dota and the Blizzard dota as well.

We also saw the first ever gameplay from Assassin's Creed at X06 according to this article https://press-start.com.au/news/xbo...uge-first-and-third-party-xbox-announcements/
Indeed, back then the game was announced as a PS3 exclusive despite all the public showings being the 360 version, and often being shown for 360 as well on closed door events... Something really weird went down on this game's marketing.

Ah man, the memories, here I am with Jade Raymond at X06

Different scenarios imo. Obisidian has been struggling well since ever. Insomniac have a long term partnership with Sony, and only a few games outside of them.

Obisidan being bought by anyone that gives them resources and liberty would be great, Insomniac might be doing great as independent but they are way more likely to be purchased by Sony, the odd thing would be if Ms or someone else bought them.

I expect the new Xbox tease at XO19, not XO18.

At XO18 I expect these things:

  • KB+M support full reveal
- Razer Keyboard and mouse reveal
- Age of Empires 4 news + Age of Empires 2DE release date
- Gears Tactics News
- Third party pc games coming to Xbox (League of Legends? StarCraft? Planet Coaster? Heroes of the Storm? Anno 1800?
  • Ori and the Will of the Wisps release date
  • Battletoads first gameplay trailer
  • Sea of Thieves expansion
  • Third party reveals (Splinter Cell? Rocksteady game?)
  • Full information on Crackdown 3 (Multiplayer information, gameplay footage, 'story' info)
  • Trailers for Metro Exodus, Sekiro:Shadows Die Twice, etc.
  • One new game from Microsoft Studios. Either a Ninja Theory game, a Rare game or a MSGP game.

There are rumors Microsoft has acquired Obsidian and possibly Playful in recent months.

Ninja Theory has had a game in development for over a year now called Bleeding Edge if you follow the Microsoft Studios first party thread. They could probably show that.

imagine if they aquired obsidian and gave them a huge budget to work on a AAA shadowrun IP to compete with Cyberpunk 2077.
would be a true megaton announcement

Wasnt SE and MS in talks about the older Kingdom Hearts games coming to Xbox since KH3 is on the platform? This would be a good place to announce it if anything came out of the discussion between them

I dunno whose games are taking longer but Sony sure blows em out earlier feels like.
For this generation, you'd be surprised that they don't. Someone compiled a list of announce to release in this forum in June and Sony are slightly lower, have higher percentage of releases. A few of Sony's titles make it seem like it takes a long time but really, they make up for a very small percentage of what Sony announces. MS released so far this year Sea of Thieves and State of Decay 2. Sea of Thieves was announced in 2015 while the latter was 2016 which isn't any different from some of Sony's titles Spider-man and God of War both announced in 2016 E3. I think some people may have this perception is because Forza series and Gears of War surprisingly have short announce to release but that only accounts for a few of their titles but overall, all publishers do it so singling one out doesn't seem right and MS certainly are improving as well going forward especially since leadership changes and only hearing last year about improving in this particularly area.

Looking forward to this conference and hopefully there's more on Crackdown, Gears, Ori, Halo and other new announcements for gamepass as it'll make gamepass subscription I'm planning to use next month more worthwhile.

- Further unification on Win10/Xbox. I'm thinking announcing more store compatibility (xbone running windows games and apps, and a new big UI for windows)
This really needs to happen. I keep watching conferences partly also because of any news on this. More play anywhere titles so purchases you make beyond just a handful of titles can cross over which also improves gamepass on other platforms as well. Improvements in features on the Xbox app and better unification between the two. I don't see why the Xbox app couldn't just do the purchases and downloading rather than redirecting. Similar thing with having a separate Xbox Elite controller app.
