Just curious as to how much use (if any) you've gotten out of Xbox One's HDMI In port. I haven't used it yet, but I'm expecting an Xfinity X1 to arrive within the next few days, so I figured I'd give it a shot. Do you think Microsoft's next Xbox console(s) will keep the HDMI In port? Do you want the next Xbox console(s) to keep it? What improvements (if any) do you want to see?

Tried it once in 2013 and binned that shit off quick. I don't want my Xbox on whilst watching TV. Think of the pennies.

The only devices I hook up to a TV are Game Consoles. With the additional extra latency the port adds, I stick with the TV HDMI ports. I would be surprised if Microsoft kept it around for the next Xbox.

Never used it and I'd be fine with it not being included with Xbox Two. I'd have preferred keeping the Kinect port in there on Xbox One X.

I used to for TV on my original Xbox. Using the snap function for NHL and NFL games was great. I wouldn't mind if they expand on that idea but go digital. Snap function should return

I used to use it a whole lot when I had cable. I don't use it currently. I took one to my mom's and set it up or her in the living room to make it so she didn't have to switch inputs to go to Netflix and such, so she uses it all the time.

My Lounge Room Xbox does.

Have my Foxtel (Australian Cable) box plugged into the back of it. Turns it into the greatest media device ever. Not having to change inputs and being able to do absolutely everything on one box is incredible.

Every day. My DirecTV DVR is plugged into it.

It's so handy to have my games, TV, Netflix, Amazon, HBO Go, YouTube etc on one device.

Yep. Always on and TV in makes it a perfect media center for me. Have one on every tv. Still using voice control via Kinect too. It works better if you disable Cortana.

I've tried connecting the Switch through it, I heard it may provide a slightly better image going via the X1 to a 4K display - but tbh it's hard to tell if there's an improvement or not.

I stopped using it about a year ago when I got a new TV. All the apps and functionality became built into the TV and were just as responsive as the Xbox's apps.

Tried it for awhile, but found it more annoying than useful. Ended up going back to just using an input on my TV (then dropping cable).

Yes. My cable TV is connected into it. Find using the guide on the Xbox app to be less cumbersome than using my actual cable tv box to watch TV.

If I didn't have to have cable (thanks HOA) then I probably wouldn't use it

Nope.
But I don't use traditional TV anyways. (I just have my TV connected to the PC in the living room)

If they found a way to reduce latency it would be great but right now they have an issue.

I believe it is bandwidth related because if you put a very low resolution picture through you get almost no latency.

I forgot it had one before I even bought it. Don't know what I could use a console HDMI in for. Can't think of anything.

When I had cable yes I did and it was awesome. Using the hdmi in for anything other than media consumption is a mistake.

Yup. It saves a spot on my audio receiver, and more to the point - I treat my satellite television programming like an app, at this point. I browse between DVR'd sports, YouTube, games - and back.

Its kind of neat, but if we're being honest ... I don't think it adds much value with 'Snap' being removed. Now Snap was interesting. ...Too bad the system was so under-powered in the first place.

Why? I can't imagine it adds much to the cost to manufacture
We are talking about millions of millions of units to produce..every tiny part is adding to the cost when we are talking about millions of units. Since MS basically gave up on any multimedia aspirations it had at the beginning of the gen, this port is basically useless.

I never did when I had one.

We have a 4 port 4K HDMI switcher (only 1 of my TVs inputs supports 4K)

Used to all the time when you could snap the tv app. I loved snapping Wrestling or sports and playing while watching. Now it's pretty much only used when I want to watch tv because I need the port.

Yup, I watch TV thru it.
my xbox one x has been primarily a media device (TV/Netflix/etc).

I use my kinect (w/ adapter) as well for voice etc, too.

Yup, i have my ps4 hooked up to it.

When i first got my xone, i hooked my 360 through it and the input lag was terrible. Fast forward a few years and i was suprised at how smooth the experience had evolved. I've played all the Uncharted games through it, twitch shooter indie games and currently working through horizon zero dawn. Even played a number of mp titles and the wipeout collection and i didn't feel like there was any noticible lag whatsoever. Nothing that i noticed anyway or impacted my ability to play them.

And yes, i do kbow what input lag looks and feels like. I genuinely don't notice any Via my oneX's hdmi port.
