I liked DmC Dante. At least the developers knew it was over the top, dumb and cheesy. I really think the Japanese devs were trying to make a genuinely "cool" character with DMC1-4.

The scraps people are pawing at for anything remotely resembling the reboot in DMC5 as some weird gotcha thing is just bizarre. I think people get that the reboot has fans, but having so many threads about every minor thing when there's so much more of every other DMC game in it (particularly in what's most important, how it plays) kinda makes them seem pathetic at this point. Reboot Dante took a lot from Nero in the first place, and his portrayal in 5 is a far cry from that even then. Move on.

So we got the street fighter thing, the ff15 is the best jrpg ever thing, and now this. And as if this thread wasn't an obvious troll thread enough, he explicitly states you should watch a spoiler "leaked" trailer to understand what he is talking about.

Why are the mods allowing this guy to constant post these mundane hot takes that are obviously only made to breed discourse?

The first thing I thought when I saw the new Nero was that they adopted the Scalebound protagonist's design for DMCV once that project fell through. They look too similar to deny, even down to the mutated/false arm.

Nero came first though...like all they did for DMC5 was cut his hair, otherwise he looks basically the same but slightly more realistic like all the other characters compared to their DMC4 versions.

Wait, when did that happen?.

There is a scene, where Donte tells Kat - without warrant, with heavy sexual undertones "he likes it rough." Later you find out Kat was raped by her father or something. This isn't explained, ninja theory just dumped that backstory on her randomly and never explored it again...

You later see Donte grab Kats ass for no reason.

DmC Dante was a really cardboard character who was also a complete creep because the only reason he even decides to get involved in the story was because he was thirsty for Kat

Trolling?
I never said SFIV looks better than V. I said Ken in SFIV looks better than Fake Ken from SFV.
I'm just pointing out how these DMC "fans" bashed DmC Dante because of his looks and dialogue, and yet "Nero" is pretty much an exact clone of him in V and people are loving him. DmC Dante got unnecessary hate because he was the lead of the reboot.

I'm in the same boat as you. SFIV is the better looking game, just compare both versions of Ken (the only character that matters)

People in this thread will disagree with you, but the majority of the people agree with us. The reason why SFV sold so poorly was once the general public saw how Ken looked they didn't want to purchase the game. Capcom can't be bothered to fix him, so the best solution that they gave us was armor covering face.

SFV is the better looking game.... lol ok.

And if you scroll down, you see that I'm specifically talking about Ken. Why cherry pick? Why didn't you just post the entire post.

It's a locked thread so I can't quote you. So I did the extra work. Here you go

Yeah, you're not wrong. When the previous installment looks better you have to say to what went wrong.

If lack of content is why it didn't do well, then why didn't the Arcade Edition set the charts on fire? We all know the real reason why the game didn't sell. It's because Ken Masters is missing.
The game can still be a hit. They need to release an Ultra edition with Ken on the cover so people know he's in the game.
It's not to late @Capcom. You can still turn it around, just put in the real Ken Masters.

Just take a look at Fake Ken from SFV and Ken from SFIV. SFIV is the better looking game.
Now go post a picture of Fake Ken from SFV and Ken from SF IV. And then you'll be like shiit, SFIV does look better.

So you never looked at Ken from SFV. Anybody who says that looks better than anything in IV needs to get their eyes checked.

I mean I think all the true DMC fans of the series know that the "Nero" we're seeing in DMCV trailers is actually Dante from DmC. DmC Dante snuck in V, and took Nero's spot.
A)Take a look at his looks
You can't fool my eyes.

B) Personality
For those people who have seen the leaked trailer a month ago
You see Nero has developed quite a potty mouth, who wouldn't stop swearing. It looked like they ripped the dialogue straight out of DmC from Dante.

Capcom put in DmC Dante in V, and the majority of people didn't even notice. Man the dude got all this hate for no reason because he was the star of the reboot, but now people seem to love him in V. So can we all admit that Dante wasn't that bad in DmC? Also with Nero gone, where the hell is?!
OP didn't play DMC4 it seems

also his design isn't the same as DmC dante, nero's I mean. Short hair doesn't mean the design is the same.

Considering donte and nero have different behaviors , motivations and quirks ... no , OP it's not the same.

Troll thread. I don't see Nero having threesomes with hookers and screaming FUCK YOU.

Nero looks like Nero and acts like Nero.

One of DMC5's best features is the way it reminds you at every moment what a difference it makes to have competent developers with good taste working with a genre they understand.

Anyone else get the urge to replay DMC after all this? I kinda do. Yeah the character was just a mess, but I liked the gameplay. Think I might install it tonight.

I think the new Nero lands a bit in between, either way Im happy with the direction they took.

If anything DmC was the game that lacked the self-awareness and was actually trying to be cool.

I don't think Nero is as reminiscent of DmC Dante as some people think. He does swear a whole lot, though. DMC5 Nero is certainly a step up from DMC4 Nero, however, who was a big, Kyrie-screaming, pile of nothing.

not gonna lie, when i saw Nero i knew it was DMC V especially due to the leaks.
But my heart sunk rapidly, I thought Nero was Donte, I thought Capcom had pulled the greatest troll in history.
Faking the leaks for 5 just to fuck with the fanbase & then I saw the 5 on the side of the bus.

For but a few seconds to me DmC 2 was real & what a wonderful timelines that was.

Nice bait.

With that said Nero > Donte.
At least Nero isn't a carbon copy of Tameem.

Always amusing to see how disappointed people get when confronted with the truth that DmC elements (Both in gameplay and characters) have made their way into DMC 5. Like i get it the game wasn't your cup of tea, but there is still good to pull out of it much like with DMC 2.

Better to look at the parts that make the whole after all. Which I think Itsuno has realized too with what he says about the game, which seems to go further than just being a "corporate nicety"

DmC Dante was so obnoxious that it sort of became endearing.

Gotta take a win where they can get it.
The funny thing is that, at least as far as I've seen, no one seems upset about the fact that Dante's alt is of DmC Dante.

Makes perfect sense when you realize that the character design thing wasn't ever a big deal except in strawman arguments.
