There's so many subtle problems with this game that'll hold it way back from being as good as Hudson's best. I kinda want to make a thread about my thoughts on it. It's a shame that whenever a Mario spin-off series loses its way, Nintendo can never get it back on track.
Mario Party lost its way in 2012 (Mario Party 9) and hasn't recovered.
Paper Mario lost its way in 2012 (Sticker Star) and hasn't recovered.
Mario Sports games from Camelot lost their way during the Wii era and haven't recovered.
And that's not even getting into how there's less experimental Mario spin-offs nowadays to begin with. Mario Kart is the only Mario spin-off that I feel is still improving with each installment (and to be fair, if we can only have one Mario spin-off series keep improving, I'm happy it's Mario Kart).
The boards they've shown for this game look bad tbh
i have low expectations despite the car being gone.
Yep, the boards look really shallow and underwhelming.
Unfortunately this Mario Party isn't for me. I know they are never going to make 5/6/7 esque game with full board online. So I just hope if N64 games ever get added to Switch online, that Mario Party is included as well.
We're never going to get a MP as good as 6 was ever again. You're right to just hope for the N64 games with online in the (very distant, most likely) future.
