Nah. The AI races are the same as they ever were—it was the surrounding CaRPG stuff that made the pre-PS3 games so much fun in single player. Taking a shitty Civic, changing parts and then finally adding a racing body kit was where it was at. It was never the on-track racing.

It was the same before and it is same now. Take some N200 car in "Professional League" cup and Midship Challenge race, bump or reduce strength or weight, choose different tyres, setup suspension, drivetrain, transmission and so on. It was the same in older GTs.

It the same with GTS.

You can make your shitty Civic a monster... the core GT gameplay did not change

There is still the CarPG stuff. But I think I know what you're getting at. In the old games you were forced to take a 1980's Toyota and fix it up to race. Then you eventually earn enough money to buy a better car and fix that one up. Then you get better, earn licenses, and open more races, buy more cars. In this game you are not forced to do any of that. In GT Sport, they give you a random car everyday for just driving over 26 miles. They did that to make online a more even play field. Online is definitely the focus here.

I need to pick up GT Sport again, it's just collecting dust on my shelf... my mind immediately went to RUF... so that's a Porsche then

Fuji looks so good.

I think this and Red Bull Ring have really taken a graphical step forward. Also noticed they've changed the road textures and added tyre marbles to some original tracks.

Great game keeps on getting better. Love what PD is doing with these updates -- especially the cadence on dropping new tracks.

Will definitely jump in tomorrow for some time trials.

I play the shit outta GTS and there's plenty on Era who'll back me on that claim, but to say it's the same now is disingenuous.

Old school GT was all about buying new exhausts, or flywheels, or new brakes, etc., etc. And pre GT5 you could buy racing kit conversions that would change the entire look of the car. The body kits were lost with GT5.

Yes, you can buy power/weight levels with mileage points but that's nowhere near the same as buying a new exhaust, etc. There was something relatable about buying a fat exhaust to get 10 extra HP on your shitty Civic. That was real CaRPG stuff, not this mileage point nonsense.

I really miss being able to browse car parts, and slowly change a stock car over time.

I counted these 9 to be added this week: 255 cars.

There are 23 locations with this new location... 67 tracks/variations without this new location (how many tracks/variants has this new location?)... 27 tracks/variations are post launch.
The content in this game can't be complained about now. It's pretty massive.

Also I love the cars they're adding but I wish they'd add more that weren't in previous GT games. I want the new Ford GT, SSC Tuatara, Cadillac CTS-V, etc

Why can't we get an alternative OST PD!

When you put in so many hours the original starts to get tedious. To make matters worse each update trailer has awesome music tracks that would fit so well into the game.

I find it hard to believe they will be releasing circuits with the same regularity going forward. I mean to do that they must have quite a few at a nearly finish state.

One every two months is probably the most reasonable overall. Else it's nuts...like really impressive nuts.

I understand were the people that are disappointed with GT Sport are coming from.
Single Player is there but it's neutered by the fact that car tuning is just putting points into the car and the progression, like getting cars and stuff is really different.
There isn't that much motivation in playing the camapagn races when you get all the cars outside of it.

But I realy like how the multiplayer turned out.
I never had as much fun online in racing game that leans more towards realism.

GT sports should let us custom the trackswe wants and those we hate too. Not all tracks are equal and i should have the option to mute those i dislike.

So I cracked and bought the game full price last weekend. Love what I've played so far.

With a controller, what is the best steering method? I tried motion controls but it doesn't feel 1:1 like it should.

I've been playing this game pretty seriously now for the past month, I love the updates. I see myself keeping playing this on a regular basis for a long time. The driving feels good, it's very pretty and everyday you get a small reward for a few laps so it's a good incentive to come back for a little more everyday.

I started casual play but now I aim at every gold in SP content, almost there !

kinda off topic, but my brother got the game recently, it's his fault i guess but he didn't know you have to be online to save and play most of the modes and stuff. and there's like a HUGE update we have to download to be able to go online, but we have crappy internet with data caps. i've played a bit of the few courses available, the game is kinda jaw-dropping [for me at least] since i've never played anything like it, i wish he could get the update so i can play more :)

Bummer. - I feel for ya as I just got semi-decent internet. I just got the game as well and patch was 30GB plus 10GB for the free 'scapes.

Yea, the update sizes are ridiculous, but they're also absolutely worth it, as they add a tonne of free content, balancing and gameplay changes, features etc. You get the entire classic campaign back for a start.

it's not even about adding stuff, the game is unplayable without the patches, it's basically 4 courses you can drive a few laps in in arcade mode.

You unlock more tracks in arcade mode by completing Circuit Experience (complete the track challenges to unlock that track for arcade) in the campaign.

oh i didn't know that, we just played for like half an hour. knowing we're not playing the latest version was a bummer so he moved on to other games and we haven't played since.

edit: but we couldn't play the campaign, it says we have to be online, and to be online it says you have to have the latest version.

That's probably the best trailer for the updates so far. Great music, fuji looks absolutely incredibly and awesome set of cars.

Looking forward to this one

Completely forgot the campaign was locked to online. Yeah that always online requirement is complete ass.

Example of the updated track and modelling.

Consider also much of this content will go straight into the PS5 GT. They're (probably) in full sequel development right now. But releasing much of the cars/tracks for GT Sport. Let's be honest they needed to earn goodwill back.

They should be around 10m players this time next year. Players who can also buy cars with real cash. So that's another revenue stream. Who knows, by that time PS5, if not imminent, will be dominating discussions.

Glad to see more Porsche support. Very production model heavy, which I prefer.

Wow, that's an amazing update with the E92 M3 GT2, 996/7 GT3 and Fuji!

Time to hit the track again when this launches.
