the 44mm is freaking amazing

just got mine exchanged, but I got the cellular model

to those of you who have the cellular/LTE model does it actually come in handy or should I just return this one and wait until the gps only comes back in stock

Only get the cellular if you're gonna go exercising regularly without your phone

I think I've been without phone once on a walk. Because you're limited to Music, it was really a waste of money. Gotitreally for the expanded internal storage, which they all get this time.

Going GPS this time.

Quite honestly this may be enough for me to replace my Fenix 5 with the AW5 next year. Syncing podcasts and going on a run with my watch only sounds great.

It's magical. I leave the house with my watch, AirPods, and can still listen to what I want and receive/send messages and calls like nothing. Totally worth it if you want to do that on a regular basis

I have to run with my 8 plus in an armband or slide my phone into the back of my cycling shorts. The second case resulted in a crack on my back glass. Ugh don't tempt me.

So I take it these watches are never meant to truly replace your phone.

If you are fine with putting your music on the watch or using Apple Music to stream, or just using it as a basic communications device it is great. I have subs to GPM and others and am not paying extra on top of the extra cost for cellular for that small convenience next time.

$10/no for the line isn't bad, but $100 more for the hardware isn't appealing anymore.

Truly not trying to tempt you. If you're cool with waiting for the next one, do that. I'm just saying when you do get one you're gonna be in heaven

No, it's definitely an accessory to the phone. The reason I caution people about the cellular watches being very focused on exercise is because the watch won't go through a whole day on it's own without dying. Cellular hits the battery hard, as you can imagine.

I wonder if I'd be able to get much money still for a S3 SS. Bought it for $950 CAD and with Apple Care. Apple will only give $325 for it.

I bought my S3 in June but I still don't regret it and hope I'd waited because it was great for summer and swimming.

Unfortunately stainless models don't seem to hold their value on the secondhand market. No one seems to care, they just want a cheap watch

My Series 3 cracked, not sure how or when and it didn't seem related to battery swelling. But Apple still replaced it with a new/refurbished one.

I thought I would have a good reason to upgrade, but I'll stick with my 'new' S3 for now!

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, especially when the stainless steel models are a ridiculous $1000 in Canada.

Should have gone for the aluminum S3 and waited for steel S4.

Yeah the SS models look way nicer but are not worth the steep price tag. Would rather own an aluminum GPS S4 and base model S7 for the same price as the loaded SS S4 of my choosing.

Yeah I'm actually considering selling my steel S3 and buying an aluminum S4 with money still left over. The S4 is the first one to look great and sleek to me in aluminum, the MKBHD video really sold me on it.

Biggest downside probably is losing the scratchless sapphire screen though.

I'm going back and forth about getting a stainless steel Watch. This feels like the first proper upgrade to the Watch, and if they follow the same strategy going forward then an extra couple hundred bucks really isn't that much for something I will use daily for a few years.

On the other hand the difference isn't as noticeable on the black models, they functionally identical, I don't really want the added weight, and it looks a little too formal, I'd feel silly going to the gym with it.

90% sure I'll stick with the space grey aluminum but man, the stainless steel ones sure are shiny.

If you don't use LTE, it's a no brainer. You are getting all the same watch for half the price lol $850 SS with the classy band or $430 aluminum for the 44 mm. Yeah stainless looks better but come on.

The stainless steel really does look better but it really is a piece of technology and if you're going to want to keep upgrading it really is ridiculous sinking so much money into it each time.

Call me crazy but I actually kind of prefer the aluminum space Grey look compared to the silver stainless steel of the S4 because the small bezels blend in better. Haven't seen them in store together yet though.

Or want something you're pretty well never going to break.

Stainless is for people who can afford to swap them out or people who definitely want to get 3-5 years minimum out of their purchase.

My OG Apple Watch still looks nearly brand new after 3.5 years and will be given to my less tech-demanding mother for what I assume will be another 4 years or more.

Ordered one, doesn't deliver till October 22nd. Is there any easy way to get notified if my local store gets any in stock?

If that's your criteria, the black stainless steel model is the most "seamless" design by far since every surface has a polished black finish. Aesthetically, I think the contrast between the display and the housing actually matters less than you might think when you see them in person - especially on the series 4 watches with the new display.
Having seen them all now, my preference in order is the silver/gold stainless, black stainless, silver/gold aluminum, and black aluminum - though I'm tempted to put the black stainless behind the silver/gold aluminum. The black stainless is probably the least versatile model, as there's a limited number of bands that it pairs well with.
I wouldn't choose the gold models or the black aluminum model to wear myself though. Just doesn't fit my style, even though I do like how the gold watches look.

iStockNow worked very well for me last year, was able to get my dad the iPhone X a month before his delivery date. It lets you monitor your nearby Apple Stores and sends an email/notification whenever it notices new stock, typically early in the morning (I wanna say like 7 AM-ish?). Then you can order online with in-store pickup. I haven't used it for a Watch but it should work just as well since it's checking the same inventory. Good luck.

So when I picked up my iPhone XS Max, I tried both sizes and the 44mm isn't too big at all (honestly it's barely a difference from my 42mm but the 40mm is quite small compared to my 42mm - not sure how that makes sense since the net difference from my watch is 2mm both ways).

So now I'm just waiting for the Hermes store to call me when my 44mm comes in. I don't want to wait to order online as it says end of October to get any that way, and the Apple stores here in Vancouver don't sell the Hermes watches direct.

Something I'm finding is that I actually want *fewer* complications than I used to have - I no longer feel the need to see the battery life on my watch, for example. Really just want date/time/activity/the best weather complication I can get. Maybe my heart rate.

But all of the non-Infograph watch faces honestly look kinda weird/tiny/misaligned on the Apple Watch Series 4.

I've never wanted the battery as a complication. I never worry about power anyway and it would just give me some super unnecessary battery anxiety, plus now that you can access control center from any app in watchOS 5, not just the clock face, I have battery info whenever I need it.

Yeah. The battery complication was a legacy of my Series 0 days - totally unnecessary now.

I want my weather app upgraded for Infographic, or to find a better weather app (had been using Weather Underground).

I also want Pokemon Go updated, but knowing Niantic... that'll take forever, if it ever happens.

Made the jump to S0 to S4 and hoo boy, it's incredible! My watch is useful again, outside of getting text message notifications.

Still can't quite nail what the Watch wants from me with activating Siri by raising the watch to my face. It's a 50/50 proposition on whether it works for me, and often, I don't seam to speak loudly enough, but triggering it seems to require near-yelling.

Here's hoping more developers get their complications working with the new watch faces soon!

I really want one but can't really justify the price. I remember my old Xperia being the same price and it was a flagship device.

So I ended up ordering through Verizon, placed first order on Wednesday then cancelled it because I wanted a different watch, placed new order on Thursday, 9/20. Since then, my order status is still 'processing' and what's weird is when I open up My Verizon app, it has a section saying my order is processing but when I click it, the order doesn't show up. Tried calling Verizon customer service on a break but was on hold for too long, I understand they're backlogged and it's saying anticipated ship date not until November but I'd like for it to say Order complete or something, anyone deal w/ Verizon have any issues?

BB finally has mine. Can't wait to pick it up.

I know it's silly but I'm so much more excited to work out when I'm tracking my activity and I haven't been able to for the last few days (Gave my series 0 to my brother)

To be fair, the watch face is by far the nicest one available haha. It's almost like they intentionally make all the others uglier so they can justify this.
I don't think it's worth the money, but I do agree. It's disappointing that the Hermès watch is the only one that gets a "formal" face. All the others are digital / casual / sport designs.
They're also a lot more expensive. You can buy the Stainless Steel watch with Milanese Loop and an Hermès band for the price of one of the Hermès edition watches.

1) glad I got the 44mm. The difference with the display off next to my 42mm is practically unnoticeable
2) speed compared to my series 0.... lol.....
3) not 100% sold on the inforgraphic face... may be too much info.. and if I reduce the number of complications, why wouldn't I just go back to utility (aside from utility not getting the bar-type complications). Will use it more and see if it grows on me.
4) haven't played with GPS or LTE yet. I actually have no idea when I would given it's almost October in Wisconsin. Maybe I'll get one of my last 5Ks in on Wednesday.
5) still stand by stainless steel. for life baby.

I was blown away that of all the complications you could add to that infographic watch face that Apple has shown in all the marketing, you can't add the Now Playing one.

Got LUCKY AF and walked into a target where they had one watch left, a 44MM space black sport, exactly what I wanted. Setting it up now. I kinda miss my gold color though. Screen on this thing is amazing.

I'm super confused about the new watch face. I can't even have a messages complication? Wtf?
