Not being able to run games comfortably at 30 FPS almost had me go back to consoles (I prefer a locked 30 at Max settings over an unstable 60 at lower settings), but now that I've discovered Riva, I'm back in

Buying keys from places like Green man gaming is cheaper than Consoles, especially since Amazon killed off pre order discounts, this is one of the reasons i sway towards AAA PC gaming, i can get DQ11 for 40 bucks instead of 60.
That's a fair point, and I agree with it. But I usually never buy on day1 with very few exceptions, I wait a few weeks and sometimes months and get it very cheap, either digitally or physically on console. By that time, the games I buy are usually cheaper on console than PC.

I still think PC is a great platform, and I'm really happy it exists, unfortunately not for my needs, I'd rather have consoles.
Specially after working/studying in front of a PC for 5-8 hours.

I'm still playing on my ~500$ PC that I bought in 2012 and I'm happy with it. Its running Phenom 965, GTX 660 and 8 GB RAM. Demanding games like FF XV still works on it. There are no generations, it's fully backward compatible, online is free and I can play with whatever gamepad I want. Sure, the upfront cost is much higher, but if I was playing on a console instead, up to this point I would have to pay about $360 to play online.

I would say the GODLIKE quality of Sony consoles and the exclusive games for them.
I don't know personally any PC gamer who doesn't also have a PS4 for exclusives, also Godlike with PS4 Pro's loud as fuck fan? cmon.
Though i read online i lot of PC gamers with 1080 Ti's who will refuse to buy a $200 PS4 for something like Bloodborne, that always confused me.

All this talk of drivers and shit and I go months or even a whole year without changing mine. Same goes for pretty much anything else that does not automatically update or remind me to do one. Don't now what bootassleg parts you guys are using.

The move away from physical PC gaming was the biggest factor for me. Convenience and that I wasn't playing the games I owned were the other big factors.

I am more than happy playing my games on consoles :)

I'm enjoying my 970, and don't see a need to switch.

When I got my latest PC I did look into going for a console instead, while keeping my existing machine for less demanding stuff, but the subscription for MP seemed to eat away the savings too much for it to be worth it for me.

For me, playing at 144fps (or even 60) in AAA games rather than 30 is worth the cost difference. And free online is a nice bonus. You also don't need to spend 800 dollars on a 2080 to play games on PC. You can turn some settings down and get higher framerates than console at similar settings on fairly modest hardware.

I've probably gone at least 6 months without changing drivers a few times. If a big game came out I'd be looking for the drivers that same week and there were times where the different between shit performance and decent performance was a driver.

If you're on Windows 10 that stuff is taken care of in the background, usually there is not problem until there is one. YMMV.

I gave up on AAA PC gaming years and years ago. It's gotten a bit better lately but let's not pretend PC gamers didn't needlessly wait 7 months for Final Fantasy XII - The Zodiac Age, or 19 months for GTA V.

True. But how many months console gamers had to wait for PUBG, XCOM 2, Dirt Rally, Diablo 3 etc? PC has much, much more (timed) exclusives than consoles. Also, multiplatform games not hitting PC on day 1 has become an exception, not the rule.

I've been putting money away for a PC upgrade, currently on a 6 year old Intel i5 with 8GB of 1600 DDR3 RAM and an aging GTX970. RAM prices are finally starting to come down, and the processor/MB combo I've had my eye on are both near all time lows on CamelCamelCamel, but with Red Dead coming next month I'm sorely tempted to put the money towards an XBox One X.
