I need to do a presentation on anything, give me some ideas!

I have to give a presentation in college and it can be on anything I like, within reason. I can't come up with something good, I could pick a game, movie, band or book to do it on but that seems kind of boring and difficult to talk about without telling the whole story.

It's a 7-8 minute presentation with up to 2 minutes of questions. I'm a mathematics student, but it doesn't have to have anything to do with that, but if you can come up with any interesting mathy thing feel free!

So I'm looking for something interesting to do the presentation, it can be as unusual or as normal or you want!

The Electronic Entertainment Expo: The Biggest Show of the Game Industry?
I'm sure you can rack up 10 minutes easily speaking about the coverage, excitement, the concept behind console wars, exclusives, understanding why it's held yearly and why people should tune in, explaining why it's bigger than other gaming shows etc

Talk about the film Imitation game or the book Enigma Code. It's about mathematician Alan Turing. Cryptanalysis, world war 2, LGBT themes, lots to talk about.

When a queen bee is too old to fulfill her duties anymore, the entire colony do a thing called "balling", where they tightly surround her until she dies from overheating, so a new queen bee may take her spot. Essentially, the queen is hugged to death.

Could be a decent talk in that.

I explained how surround sound worked. I got bonus points for using props. This was back in 1994 though.

It's very easy to talk about math for 7 and 8 minutes and look good, I'd stick with that. Take a decent topic like Fibonacci numbers, lay out the history a bit then explain what it is and what it is for. ezpz.

It's easy to explain and interesting enough for those in the class that are not math students too.

Why not videoganes? Like "Pong and it's role in videogames rise" or "Journey and it's exceptional use of lighting" etc etc, I'd like to listen to that, not to some random boring topic.

people might be joking but doing a presentation on why presentations are beneficial (and today's kids are cray) might be good.

My fallback in college was always the argument surrounding video games and violence. Makes you sound smart and knowledgeable if done right and it was something I was interested in.

I did the rise and fall of Atari once as a presentation too.
