TGS 2018 attendance tops record with 298,690

Total attendance for Tokyo Game Show 2018 topped a record high 298,690 visitors, the Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association announced.

The the annual four-day exhibition ran from September 20 to 23 at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba. Here is an outline of the event, via the CESA:
Tokyo Game Show 2018, with the theme of "Welcome to the Next Stage," saw the overwhelming record of 668 exhibitors (of which 330 were from overseas). They released a variety of new titles and services for multiple platforms such as home game consoles, smartphones and PCs, making it the most exciting show ever. A large number of visitors and the press not just of Japan but overseas covered the grand e-Sports stages called "e-Sports X." Reflecting the swelling impact of e-Sports on the game market, the keynote panel was held to discuss on the theme of "Road map for e-sports to spread out as the sports."

An increasing number of companies, both of exhibitors and attendees, engaged in vigorous B2B meetings. The number of meetings generated by the business matching system "Asia Business Gateway" is 668, which exceeds the last year's 602. The fact demonstrates the growing importance of Tokyo Game Show's role as a hub of international game business.

RE2, DMC5, Judge Eyes, KH3 and Death Stranding. There's some great stuff coming out of Japan, without the extensive droughts present during the last generation of hardware.

TGS this year actually felt relevant. Its been such a long time since it was a big deal.

I went this year, probably won't ever go again. Way too many people. Even queuing to buy something from the Square good shop was taking 90 minutes. Glad it's successful though

Gamescom is capped at 385k individuals. I say individuals because it is the only show that counts actual individuals. If you go to TGS for multiple days you get counted multiple times. At Gamescom everyone has a unique barcode that gets scanned as you enter and as you leave the venue so if you go for multiple days you still count as just 1.

Brazil Games Show for instance also attracts more visitors then TGS.

It's a fair shade better than the previous ones this decade that inspired so much "ZOMG ITS SHRINKING! WHAH CAN THEY DO TO CHANGE? QUICK! FILM A BLANK WALL FOR BAD EVIDENCE!" I know that much.
