I haven't missed a game yet but my least favorite part of origins was the story so if that's being praised hopefully I'm in for a pleasant surprise.

30 hours of cut-scenes. Granted, that's both player characters and their dialogue trees, but also 300 side quests in the main game. Before we even get into post-game and episodic DLC releases. Whew.

I'm so excited for this. I liked Origin a lot but lost steam at the 30-hour mark or so, and put it down until a few weeks ago(because I was wanting to play Odyssey I imagine). I loved the setting of Origin, but never really connected with Bayek but I already like Kassandra and haven't even got to play with her yet.

I hope that, since the game won't have historical figures as "massive" as Cleopatra and Caesar, there won't be such a massive focus on them in the second half of the game as there was in Origins. Stuff like the buddy cop chase scene with Caesar during the Siege of Alexandria really brought that game's story down.

I was gonna wait for a sale but I think I'm gonna cave in and get this on release. Origins was my 3rd fav AC title and they went and added the naval exploration from my #1 fav title, Black Flag. Not to mention the new exploration mode and a female playable assassin. It's gotten too difficult for me to ignore.

Played the build available at EGX earlier today. From what I played, I enjoyed it. Combat is familiar to Origins, and I preferred playing as Kassandra over Alexios. Can't wait until the 2nd October to get my hands on this.

I have not been following the game too closely, but do the NPCs know Kassandra is female? Are they going to be misogynistic assholes to her the whole time?

Also, anything about tightening up the missions/quests?

They react to Alexios and Kassandra the same, I think.

And I dunno about tightening up--there's 300 quests this time around.

As someone debating between X1X and PC for this one, what was bad about Origins on PC?

I'd say the PC version is pretty much fine. The only caveat of note is that you need a particularly beefy CPU to maintain 60fps in populous city areas. I myself have an i7 6800K overclocked to 4.2GHz, and running around in the middle of Alexandria can see usage shoot up to ~80% across all 12 threads.

I presume Odyssey will be the same, thus the system requirements Ubi released explicitly mentioning that those specs will get you 30fps.

PC is the only way to get 60fps on this game. Xbone X and/or PS4 Pro will be at 30, primarily due to CPU issues mentioned above. I bought Origins on PS4 (didn't have my upgrades on my gaming rig then) and I am going with PC for sure (also have Xbox X now).

Pretty much most major VAs for this are Greek-Canadian.
Here is an interview with the actors for Alexios and Kassandra:

Having grown up in Greece I could immediately tell during the E3 trailer that they had used Greek VAs. The Greek English accent was spot on.

This will be my first AC game since the original, and big part of that decision was how authentic it feels. Not to mention I am a sucker for Greek mythology and ancient Greece.

I know people like it but I despise branching story telling

It's also worth noting that the game has three main narratives that run on seperate tracks, with the Alexios/Kassandra personal story being the central one. You may be able to level up just following those three big questlines.

I'm super hyped for Odyssey, but will be saving it as my Christmas holiday game. It's kind of strange that I'm so excited considering that Origins was a pretty big disappointment for me (terrible side quests, lame story, didn't love the setting, combat didn't click, etc).

But I absolutely love the setting of Odyssey, the return of Black Flag-style ship exploration, dialogue options, branching storylines, seemingly improved dialogue and quests, more interesting combat, etc. I'm totally on board...hope it doesn't disappoint!

How deep does the ship part go? Is the upgrade path as deep as in black flag?
I don't remember what ship progression in Black Flag was like but in Odyssey your ship has nine slots that let you upgrade and modify the ships health, combat abilites and your crew. You can also assign lieutenants to your ship and their are cosmetic slots to customize how your ship looks.

I just read some of the previews, It seems like the game is turning out to be okay ! Happy to see that no one is talking about it being similar to the last game. It means a lot.

Will get it when it's below € 30,-. It looks and plays way to similar to Origins for me to be excited. And I'm not a big fan of the naval combat.

Well crap, I liked Origins, but wasn't expecting the buzz on this to be so positive. I still need to play DQ11, and Forza is on the Horizon, with RDR2 later in the month. Too many games!

I think this looks really good and I keep trying to talk myself out of getting it day one. RDR2 is out in the same month and having two big open world games like that back to back is not ideal.

Might make it my Christmas game.
