The whole plastic instrument craze in the mid oughts is another thing I distinctly remember. When to host a party all you really needed was a copy of Rock Band.

I hear my friends on a weekly basis wishing that I had my Rock Band setup available (they're in a different country).

Rock Band never became boring.

My brain still organizes most 2000s stuff into '90s leftovers or practically present day. One video game thing that really stands out as both dated and 2000s is the N-Gage. I still love it, though.

Literally whatever crossed over from the late 90's and was still a 'thing' in the early 00's.

It's definitely the casual homophobia in almost every piece of media. It makes a lot of shows, movies, and music hard to go back to. Like I rewatched Superbad and Wedding Crashers this year and while both were still pretty funny, the jokes that fell flat are definitely the "Ha, that's gay and you wouldn't want to be gay" jokes.

We're in a new millennium! It's THE FUTURE. That means everyone lives on a spaceship and everything is white/silver and made of liquid metal. Also before you could do everything on smartphones, they were just random devices that did... something.

Anything other than the 16:9 screen format for monitors or TVs. (4:3,5:4,16:10 were the biggies)

I still see young guys driving around in these Skylines. They were cool 15 years ago...

If I see any car today that looks like it was modified in the 2 Fast 2 Furious era, it's occupant usually looks like they're about to hit 40 who regrets a lot of life choices. I feel like when you see a car like this, most people are more likely to laugh now more than think it's anywhere near even kind of cool.

I feel like all trap music should be hyper dated sounding and left in like 2003 but here we are in 2018 in the renaissance of trap so
Naw. I love rap bro, deadass. But what you hear today isn't trap music. Trap music is music you play while "trappin" which is selling dope/drugs. It was drug "dealer" music. What you're listening to today is drug "user" music.

Fuck this thread is making me so nostalgic for this time period lol. I was very young and obsessed with the internet and it was just so damn different back then. Today is definitely better, but there was something to every website feeling different, not nearly as cookie cutter. Of course, I'm looking back with rose tinted glasses, we didn't quite have YouTube, or it was just beginning and everything was slow as hell and consumer level computers were not powerful enough for what they were trying to do... but I do look back at all that fondly.

I don't know if I really prefer the new covert style much better to be honest. Gotta pick your poison.
Eh, homophobia was fucking rampant. It definitely feels as if a large amount of people have actually, genuinely changed their perception of homosexuals. Sure, there is still homophobia but I would easily pick current day to grow up as a gay kid than when I grew up. The major perception turn happened just at the tail end of my high school years. I'm sure kids are still little shits but damn... fag was just plainly used... even by a lot of adults. Like teachers didn't think it was wrong at all.

T9 texting.

Also, hearing retarded get thrown around constantly. Listening to an old podcast from around 2006 is quite a trip. Though, the adult men of the time were progressive enough to not call things gay that often. Jesus Christ, what a heady time.
It's okay. My name is Tesdant, and I also miss forum signatures.

It's funny how the majority of them were just non-ironic inspirational posters.

The R34 is considered one of the greatest sports cars of all time and will be eligible for actual importation in the coming years. You must live in a country where that sort of thing is allowed, but in the U.S. they are still forbidden fruit. If you're referring to the wing, they're functional on a track car but most people strap them to a honda civic and think it makes a difference.
