I'm sitting at 71GB for my state of decay 2 download, but the web says it's only an 18GB file. and there is no bar to tell me how long i have left. I also DLed Halo Wars 2 and i went from 250GB left on my SSD to 79GB left atm.

It's also a chore to find the game pass only games on PC.

Fuck!!! I'm losing my mind here...

Running latest 1803 version? Not using any tools to "fix" Windows?

Some more context would be nice, else your post doesn't really provide any info.

There is a bug in the Windows platform which might cause a small percentage of downloads to be larger than expected. A fix is releasing next Tuesday via Windows Update, before the full game comes out.

In the meantime, it should complete on its own soon. You can reduce the chances of this happening by not downloading any other apps / games or updates at the same time as the demo.

Update went live this tuesday.

I have yet to see any online game store that's not, if you're not exactly knowing what you're looking for. Even Steam can be annoying as shit, due to it never showing you anything you actually care for, PSN store is trash on PC and console, eShop is little more than a joke.

That said, the Windows store, and, by connection, the Xbox PC store, are by FAR the worst offenders, even if you fucking know what you're looking for. To this day I still have to figure out a way to show only PC Gamepass PlayAnywhere titles.

I had this same exact problem a month ago with sea of thieves, just let it go for a while. Mine just randomly finished and said ready to play.

Officially Gamepass isnt on PC. Thats why. :)
If you want a list the Gamepass OT has all of them nicely sorted.

Haha it's awful. I did a complete Windows 10 reinstall recently because of store downloads I couldn't get to work.

First thing I tried wouldn't download. It's pathetic.

I was told in confidence here by a developer they were fixing it a few months back. I'm still waiting :).

Its been broken for years, I just wish they put Forza and Killer Instinct on steam and in Humble so I can effectively transfer them for a very small fee. Gears 3 can stay, only time that game downloaded correctly without issues was when I formatted my windows OS around its launch period.

Windows store is fucking terrible!!!!

You need to simply wait. I experienced the same thing with SoD2 at launch and was told by a developer to just leave it alone until it was done.

Honestly baffled at how they haven't even matched uPlay/Origin in terms of basic features such as letting you set caps, actually telling you if the game is downloading or installing or providing a fairly accurate time estimate.

8 remember the store did it on me back when gears of war 4 came out, I read it had something to do with how much room you had left on your hard drive. I thi k the answer was you had to definitely have more than twice as much room as the game you're downloading.

The best way to go with downloading shit from the windows store is queue it up when you turn on your PC and just forget about it for the rest of the day/week/year... eventually it'll show up as downloaded.

I downloaded many apps from Windows Store... zero issues! My internet connection isn't even great by today's standard.

Not only is the Windows Store terrible; Microsoft selling core PC games as locked down encrypted "apps" is even worse.

One of the major benefits of PC gaming is that we can mod, change or improve our games to our own liking, without aid or permission of the developer or Microsoft. This is no longer true for UWP games bought from the Windows Store, and there are plenty of other issues as well.

PC gamers who care about the perks and open nature of PC gaming really shouldn't support the Windows Store in it's current state. There are plenty of other great games to play.

Making it better so people want to use it is like... competing.

One would think so. But in the past 3 years, Microsoft hasn't done anything to make their store and ecosystem (more) attractive for PC gamers. Instead, they are using exclusivity to push them into their ecosystem anyway. It seems they haven't learned anything from GFWL...

No idea. The Windows/Microsoft store is such a huge part of Windows 10 and the future of Windows but it's still so bad at downloading and letting you manage those downloads.

I think a lot of this revolves around how the Windows Store team is separate from the Xbox team. There isn't any reason why those content delivery platforms should be any different and it seems like people who have no idea how to handle the size of games are trying to do something with them on the Windows Store.

Not this again...

There is no difference between a "program" and an "app", so calling them "apps" as a way of demeaning them is childish.

UWP programs are not encrypted by default either, that's up to the developer just like it is with win32. You've been corrected on this many times yet still keep spreading it.

"without aid or permission of the developer" means it's not a right or a privilege, it's just something you want to do.

Saying MS have done nothing to make their store and ecosystem more attractive in the last 3 years is a flat out lie. There is nothing wrong with using your own games exclusivity to make people use something either, or do you take issue with Sony and Nintendo forcing people to buy a PS4 and Switch to play their games? If anything MS are the best in this regard, putting their console games on PC now. You look at it as MS taking things away from you instead of looking at it the way it really is - if not for UWP and their new store you wouldn't even have the option of buying these games on PC. More games is never a bad thing.

Buying games on the Microsoft Store isn't some evil that will lead to win32 being removed. You need to stop spreading this FUD at every possible opportunity.

Win32 as it is is being EOL'd because it's a horribly insecure shitshow that needs to be taken out back and shot. Win32 will always be supported, but it won't be run natively in the future due to how insecure and malicious it can be.

Carry on though I guess, this thread wasn't exactly made to incite intelligent discussion lol.

One of the few digital PC stores I don't have at all and for once happy I don't have to deal with, as also still on Win7

Feel no urge to join it either. And I am a user happy to use multiple digital storefronts as long as they work fairly well, Origin, Uplay, Steam, GOG, Blizzard, EPIC are all installed on my machine

because steam was bad in 2004, so microsoft require 14+ years of to catch up.

but our lord and saviour, phil spencer, said that mods steal your chrome passwords so mods must be bad.

That is apparently a bug with the store. Had that happen to me twice for Gears4. After that I just gave up. Considered downloading the hacked version just so I can fucking play this game I own but no game is good enough to risk legal trouble.

There is no "PC gaming" division at MS, there is a subdivision of Xbox.
As long as thats the case, it will always play second fiddle.

Its by far the worst digital store on PC imo
Combined with the Xbox app, I'd at least rank it higher than Battle.net, as much as I hate the Windows Store.

Battle.net straight up has no way to change the real name associated with your account. That and the region restrictions make it ridiculously obvious they didn't ever plan on making this launcher for anything but World of Warcraft.

Windows store was run by Windows team. Windows teams doesn't understanding what makes a good gaming store. Windows team is about Windows...not gaming.

Give it another year. With the structure shake up at Microsoft starting late last year, I'd be shocked if windows store didn't get overhauled...especially with Microsoft's vision to blur the lines between console and PC.

Read my post again. I wrote that Windows Store games are sold as encrypted apps, not that all UWP apps are encrypted. I'm well aware that encryption is optional.

Saying MS have done nothing to make their store and ecosystem more attractive in the last 3 years is a flat out lie.

Since you're so eager to call me a liar, I'd love to see a list of changes that Microsoft made to make their ecosystem more attractive for PC gamers. They haven't fixed any of the issues I've mentioned in my thread.

Again, quote me where I wrote that? It's so sad that you're making things up to attack people for criticizing your favorite console brand.

It makes perfectly sense to vote with your wallet against something you don't like. Support something a company is doing, and they'll keep doing it. It's that simple.

Exactly. The store was built from the ground up to support apps not huge game files. Both the store and Xbox studios were told of the new initiative from leadership and did their best to comply without getting any extra time.

It's much more a management issue then blaming developers on either side.

MS is huge and still is restructuring around Satya's new goals which means progress that would be visible to users will take time. In the meantime developers in both organizations are doing what they can to deliver what's needed for most use cases.

It works fine for me and my friends who really play on Windows 10, and don't have some kind of old grudge.

That must be it. Everyone who has technical issues with the Windows Store or doesn't like it's console-like approach for core games is just having some old grudge against Microsoft. Thanks for solving our problem m8!
