So did anyone get one of these that wasn't super keen on the original? I'm really tempted after hearing all the praise but I didn't love the series 0.
My Apple card has the financing for 6 months (12 if I end up with Apple care) Until the 25th so I was thinking of actually taking advantage of that if I'm gonna buy one.

After spending a whole day with it, I absolutely LOVE it! It's my first smart watch and it works sooooooooo well.
Kind of depends on what you didn't like about the original Watch.
The apple watch is such a terrible device. This coming from a big fan of Apple.

If it one day has an always on display it may be nice but having to charge your watch regularly / possibly daily seems silly.

You bought and returned it in less than a day and your beef is that you have to charge it daily, which you don't?

Everyone has their own opinions on what they like and don't like. Sounds like you don't find much use for the watch or its quirks are too annoying. I'm wondering though, why is charging it every day an issue? Don't you charge your phone every night? Set it down in your bedside table? Why not do the same with the watch? Just set it down on its wireless charger. There's no need to wear it to bed...
What are you doing with your watch while you sleep?
I was hesitant for the first couple years, but once you use it for more than a few days, it becomes useful and not a burden. Is it necessary? No, but it's nice.
Considering upgrading my S2 Nike+ Space Grey to an S4 Nike+. Just don't know if I should get Space Grey again or switch it with Silver. I think I overall prefer Space Grey but the silver with the white/black Nike band and the silver Nike sport loop look amazing.
Same here, I think I'll just check store every morning, hoping something shows up. Waiting more than a month is crazy.
The absolute hottest of hot takes humanly imaginable. If you were able to buy and return it in what was likely less time than the average person would spend in a single pair of underpants, that's not "trying" anything, dude. It just ain't.

Edit: TIL if the screen is off while it's still facing you, instead of flicking your wrist again you can just scroll with the digital crown to turn it on.

Walkie talkie is buggy. It should, on first tap, connect. After that, hold to speak... assuming the connection went through. Which it doesn't. A lot.
...what was so bad about it that made you return it so quickly? Like I can't even imagine anything you did for a few hours that warrants a return. This is the weirdest thing I've read.
I think people want sleep monitoring metrics. Needing to charge it every night sort of makes that impossible.
Not really. You just have to work it into your routine. I get home from work, my watch is at about 20-30%. I slap it on the charger for an hour while I mill about. I then put it back on and keep it on overnight to track my sleep with Sleep++. When I wake, it's at about 70-80%, so I top it off for a few minutes while I get ready for work.
They already are, just a matter of finding the model you want. If you are asking how long till they are plentiful, who knows.
Yup, and I have a feeling we're not 7nm yet with the Apple Watch either. We could still have a couple years of major battery/performance improvements left.
Curious how the Watch CPU and GPU performance improvements might trickle down to the other places they're used.
Stores are getting stock every night. Yesterday around 8am I was able to order one online for pickup at 10am when the store opened. So do try that.
I've got a 44mm model with cellular and love it already. A fantastic refinement over the outgoing model, although I'm coming from a S1 launch day model so the impact will be larger for me.

Just went to my Apple Store today to check out the new models. Still undecided between the Space Grey and Silver for the Nike+ version. Turns out even though the Nike+ models don't come out until October 5th, they had them out on display (and I haven't seen any pics or videos online of them yet). So I snagged some picks from of the S4 Aluminum Silver Nike+:

Did anyone else get screwed by the Best Buy pre-order? I was supposed to be able to walk in on Friday the 21st and pick it up. Then I never got the "come pick it up" email so I just dropped by and was basically told that they and a ton of other stores just didn't get ANY watches in. I've tried checking in a couple of times and they still haven't gotten any shipped. My order just shows "delayed" now with no indication if it's a delay of a week or 3 weeks. Yet when I go to their site I can order one online right now that says "FREE Shipping: Get it by Wed, Sep 26" Has anyone had any luck placing a different order for shipping and seeing if it will arrive?
Apple says I can get $175 for my S3 trade in. Was that your experience? I'm leaning towards trading it in too
I'm still waiting on my Series 4, but would anyone here who has theirs already be able to take a screenshot of the Photos watch face for me? I'm trying to redesign my Smash Bros. watch face images, and I know the placement of the time on the Photos watch face is different on the Series 4 from checking it out in store at Apple, but I don't have an exact reference to use since I don't have my watch yet. I'd need a screenshot with the time and date positioned at the bottom, with another complication set below that (preferably something long enough to reach the left side of the screen), and having the notification and/or workout icon at the top would be helpful as well. So something like this, but on a Series 4:
The picture used doesn't matter as long as the time and complications are clear enough. A screenshot from the higher resolution 44mm watch would be best, but a 40mm screenshot would work, too. If anyone can help out here, I'd really appreciate it!

Everyone has their own aesthetic preferences, but of the S4 Nike watches, that Silver + Summit White Sport Loop is my favorite by far - though I generally prefer lighter watches/straps.
I think the old Platinum/White band looked better than the new Platinum/Black band too.
Since you have an S2 Nike watch, this has me wondering how Apple handles watch faces.
If you have a Nike/Hermès watch registered to your account, does that unlock those faces on your account for good? Do you only get access to those faces with one of those watches actively registered on your account, or do you only get to use them on the Nike/Hermès watches themselves?
I'd guess it's the last option, which would be frustrating if you bought one of those editions one year, and selected a different one the next; e.g. switching from the S2 Nike to a regular S4 or Stainless.
You can buy Hermès bands separately, but I guess that probably doesn't unlock the matching Hermès watch faces, and it would probably be cheaper to buy a Stainless S4 and keep the band if you had an S2 or S3 Hermès watch than buy an S4 Hermès, even if you sell the previous watch.
I wish that they would just include unbranded versions of those faces on all the watches, even if it's going to be some time before they allow entirely custom watch faces (if they ever do).
I stupidly looked up the Hermès S4 watches on YouTube and I really like some of the options for it, but there's no way that I would buy one since it's a tech item that will be replaced after a few years and not a collector's item like a "real" watch.
I don't think you'll see many people continuing to use older Edition watches for much longer since the hardware in them is outdated, and they aren't the new sleeker design. I've seen a few S3 Edition selling for about the same price as the basic S4 GPS, and S2 for even less.
Yo - if you just got a cellular Watch and are on T-Mobile, they're giving three months of Watch service for free. Just set up service in the Watch app.

Here in Canada if I traded in and upgraded my SS S3 it would still be over $600.
I don't get why people want a thing that will drain the battery especially when you're not actually seeing it. That's a smartwatch, it should work smart like that, not like a regular watch.
and I think 1 day is not enough, 1 week at least should give a convincing idea of what you're getting from a smartwatch. and it will be definitely an addition for the phone, not a replacement.
I upgraded my S2 to S4, and so far, I dig the speed and this screen.
Same here. They told me come back Monday. Seems like Apple didn't give them enough (My store which is quite big supposedly only got 6 which were all gold)

I dunno, I've used the sport loop since they came out and I was previously using the sport band or nylon bands. I really like the sport loops. It's soft, super quick to put on/off and is nicely adjustable.
Disagree, it's my favorite band. I wear it 95% of the time. I loathe the sport band.
Sport loops are "cheap and flimsy" but the sport bands aren't? C'mon..
