Please do yourself a favor and go watch some of the RE Engine games. That's where the best current models in videogame industry are.

You're obviously one of those people that like to hate for the sake of hating.
You're obviously delusional. That video doesn't even show the entire pre release video.
That's not comparing it to the CGI video, but rather to an early version of the intro. Both pieces of footage in that video are real-time, and the final game is clearly improved. You're obviously delusional. That video doesn't even show the entire pre release video.
I thought the 2005 dev kit used for the TGS MGS4 demo had 2x gtx 7800 (not gtx 6800) in SLI. The 6800 was a 2004 card, 7800 was 2005, so by the time of TGS 2005 they would've been using 7800s.
16 ROPs (2x) - 256-bit memory bus (2x)
The PS3 RSX was a gimped gtx 7800 with 8 ROPs and a 128-bit memory bus. So 60fps, the higher quality lighting model and higher polygon count was not going to happen for the final game.
You seriously trying to tell me the crappy fallout 4 models and their animations look better than mgs4?
The title should really be
Flashback at MGS4 TGS '05 demo - my nostalgia is blinding me to what is possible now.
It was most certainly not 1080p and none of the videos we have are 60fps. The model quality was not obviously reduced apart from maybe Snake's ears, it's a bit hard to compare because his design was changed twice before release (though I personally think the 2005 design looked better). The lighting is probably more advanced in retail where the environmental shadows are rendered in real time.Overall model quality was severely downgraded in 2008 final version, plus sub-HD/30fps vs 1080/60 of that demo.
Fascinating.I read they were working on a GPU with Toshiba that didn't pan out because the whole project was behind schedule.
The basis is confusing
But that's not the right video. The final game was impressive, but it wasn't close to the original e3 trailer (which for some reason, people think has been surpassed)https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xj989hFKNF8

I say we already have. remember that MGS5 was 60fps while MGS4 was 30
im amazed this is still going lmao
MGS4 is also linear while MGS5 is sandboxy. sandbox games have additional hurdles to overcome to hit 60fps that more linear (or at least, tightly enclosed areas) games don't haveYa but from what I played, mgs5 was very empty with sparse environments and lots of empty landscapes.
Mgs4 on the other hand was littered with buildings and towns you went thru. Perhaps that's why 5 was able to achieve 60. Just my two cents.
Not even close
You said, "and many other current gen games." And yeah, the models do look better,e specially when you consider that, in F4, you can manipulate the model.
Nope and I have that straight from the horses mouth so to speakThat was real-time, just on an early PS3 dev kit with a slightly above-spec GPU, iirc.
Really? Any more info to share? From what I remember back then, it was done on one of those devkits with a 256-bit bus GPU (retail is 128-bit), but if that's totally wrong I'd love to know more about it.Nope and I have that straight from the horses mouth so to speak
