No, but the other activities will almost always just give you +1 or +2 to your gearDo you not fancy waiting 40 minutes in the guided games queue?
I've also not done a nightfall yet.
So when I hit 540, the only way to get better gear is through the Nightfall?

Older raids are on Nessus. So the main Exotic I didn't get that I wanted when I stopped playing was Crimson. Now I've got it from Xur lmao.
Almost to PL 400 after Warmind, ready to skeddadle into Forsaken and finally get ready to get back on the grind.
How come I can't see where to enter raids? Is that locked until I finish Forsaken even for old stuff like Leviathan?
I just got a a few lvl 20 teammates in Ironbanner. IRONBANNER, HOW DO YOU EXPECT A LVL 20 TO TAKE OUT A LVL 50 PLAYER?! Why is there no goddamn protection against this kind of thing?!
I bought Forsaken on PC last week and it's painful to have all the gear and mats sitting on my ps4 account that I can't use. Not having cross-save or at least one time save transfer is baffling decision.
I have at least some vanilla exotics and shards/mod components from last year.
Playing at 60+ fps on 144hz Freesync monitor and 100 fov is like playing different game, so it's not that bad.
Can't even imagine it at 30 fps. No amount of exotics are enough to put up with that.
What's the deal with the Drifter flipping a two sided coin with 5 possible outcomes?
So hard to do LFG for Raid Lairs (almost no one is doing these) and Last Wish ("be 570+ and done the raid before" nonsense) :/

He has more than one coin, you can see that when he plays with them. It's not an actual coin flip. He isn't leaving it up to choice. The Drifter chooses the enemy beforehand. He is just giving you the illusion. What's the deal with the Drifter flipping a two sided coin with 5 possible outcomes?
This is a good rule of thumb up to 520. After that it gets a little more complicated as seen in the visual guide that Klyka posted. If you want to min-max efficiently, you want to do your Nightfall/ 100K, Dreaming City and the raid last, in that order. All other junk you do first.

It probably doesn't matter a great deal either way. I think my way relies a lot more on good RNG though. As if you don't get a drop for that specific slot that's letting you down, you've just wasted your time. For the past couple of weeks I've been doing junk first and saving nightfall/petra stuff for last, and I've managed to get past 560 without touching the raid. That includes losing 2 offerings to that stupid bug, so I personally think it's the way to go. Normally while doing the lower end stuff I'll also be accumulating prime engrams/exotics to boost my power level and the powerful stuff at the end boosts me further.
Then again some of my friends who claim they're doing the same thing are at around 540ish power level while doing all the same stuff I did, so maybe I just got lucky with drops, I dunno.
Despite what many people here think I do work. 30-35 hours a week. Plus I go to gym and have (somewhat) of a social life. Besides sleeping, the rest of my free time is spent playing this game. I guess you can call me one of those "no lifers" who plays non stop. I know some legit "no lifers" and even they think there is too much to do. I'm not necessarily complaining though. It's a good "problem" to have.
I also play A LOT. More so than your typical player. So, odds are, I'm going to get more drops too.
The 3 main forsaken strikes(not including Broodhold) are easily the best strikes they've ever made. They're all just fantastic in their own ways.
Are you on ps4? I'd be up for raid layer runs, I quit after Osiris and only did the first layer twice. Perhaps we could build a group here?
Man. The more I play Forsaken, the more turned off I get - and I'm well aware that I'm in the huge minority here.
The time commitment it expects is so high it's actually ridiculous. I've easily put in 50-60 hours since it was released and not earned any of the new exotic items yet, outside of the quest ones. I'm still hopelessly underlevelled to attempt the raid, and when I do get there I'll be expected to sift through LFG groups asking for 100+ clears and 580 Power. Matchmaking solo is horrendously bad in all competitive Crucible playlists and Gambit.
Super glad everyone else is loving it, but there's just no way I can play enough to get the most out of this thing. I'm a little put out.
Game's been out 3 weeks, play a couple hours a day and you're at 40 hours total, is 60 (adding 1 hour per day) really so insane?
Its slight of hand. He's a drifter and a grifter. He knows what we're getting before he shows us the coin. What's the deal with the Drifter flipping a two sided coin with 5 possible outcomes?
Yeah, as a new pc player, some of the slow matchmaking is a bit surprising / disappointing.
The game is better off than it was, but you're not wrong at all with what they've done to the grind. It's now just a mindless slog to get to raid capable light level and there's absolutely nothing to show for the journey. It's just a time sink. You get no new abilities for leveling up. Just one slow step closer to being able to attempt the raid. Still way better than D2 launch in terms of how the game feels and plays though.Man. better to hop into a clan and team up from there. So hard to do LFG for Raid Lairs (almost no one is doing these) and Last Wish ("be 570+ and done the raid before" nonsense) :/
Assuming I didn't screw up, according to my quick and dirty (sloppy) math, I've but in about 200 hours of time since Forsaken has dropped.

210 for me according to that. That included two weeks of free time to play it though. I like Destiny.Assuming I didn't screw up, according to my quick and dirty (sloppy) math, I've but in about 200 hours of time since Forsaken has dropped.

Yep. Especially since it seems like almost everyone in gambit is starting to use the EP Shotty and Sleeper, people who don't have them are missing out.I feel sorry for anyone who doesn't have the Sleeper Simulant catalyst/ masterwork right now. Good luck finding anyone willing to do a Prestige SOS and then being lucky enough for it to drop. And then have fun grinding that out too, assuming you have all three EP weapons...
New players missed A LOT.
If I'm being honest here, the Midnight Coup, EP Shotgun, and Sleeper is my go to loadout for almost everything with the exception of switching out the Tigerspite AR for the Midnight Coup in PvP.Yep. No prestige SoS myself so no sleeper catalyst. At least I have the EP weapons.

Just do the sleeper quest, you can do that without anyone.
