So the main Exotic I didn't get that I wanted when I stopped playing was Crimson. Now I've got it from Xur lmao.

Almost to PL 400 after Warmind, ready to skeddadle into Forsaken and finally get ready to get back on the grind.

How come I can't see where to enter raids? Is that locked until I finish Forsaken even for old stuff like Leviathan?
Older raids are on Nessus.

I just got a a few lvl 20 teammates in Ironbanner. IRONBANNER, HOW DO YOU EXPECT A LVL 20 TO TAKE OUT A LVL 50 PLAYER?! Why is there no goddamn protection against this kind of thing?!

Fighting the terrible matchmaking is Desitny's true end game.

Why is there no real ranking/skill based system from Bungie who pretty much invented this stuff on console? Remains the biggest mystery to date...

I bought Forsaken on PC last week and it's painful to have all the gear and mats sitting on my ps4 account that I can't use. Not having cross-save or at least one time save transfer is baffling decision.

I have at least some vanilla exotics and shards/mod components from last year.

Playing at 60+ fps on 144hz Freesync monitor and 100 fov is like playing different game, so it's not that bad.

Can't even imagine it at 30 fps. No amount of exotics are enough to put up with that.

I'm a PC player who was relegated to console due to not being able to afford a new PC as I was being responsible and buying stuff for work instead.

30fps is actually very manageable in Destiny. It hardly ever drops and is one of the smoothest 30fps experiences I've ever had.

The real problem is the FoV, it's so narrow that very often enemies seem to appear in front of you out of nowhere due to your peripheral vision being non existent, it's really harsh for managing situational awareness.

Leads to things like RL deaths when a trash mob pops up in front of you, or an enemy running in front out of nowhere and the sticky auto aim dragging your cursor off target, or stuff like the Titan hammer throw being almost impossible to track in a large battle.

i'd imagine a player coming from PC to console would find this too much to bother with.

So hard to do LFG for Raid Lairs (almost no one is doing these) and Last Wish ("be 570+ and done the raid before" nonsense) :/

hahhahahahah

My Hunter is my 3rd Character and she was in the low 40, I decidied to take a mess of bounties and go Iron Banner to level her up to 50. The hilarious thing is that it forced me to be more careful in my play style but manage cheap kills and it felt great.
Mind you, I was hovering around 500 due to weapon sharing with my other characters.

but it does feel great killing high light level players in Iron Banner with a below 50 character

If you want to min-max efficiently, you want to do your Nightfall/ 100K, Dreaming City and the raid last, in that order. All other junk you do first.
This is a good rule of thumb up to 520. After that it gets a little more complicated as seen in the visual guide that Klyka posted.

Let's go through an example. Let's say you have the following gear:

Kinetic - 538
Energy - 536
Power - 533
Helmet - 537
Gauntlets - 531
Chest Armor - 535
Leg Armor - 539
Class Item - 536
Average - 535.625

What is the optimal choice to raise your level in this situation? Powerful gear with a 520 soft cap will raise your level on 3/8 pieces of gear, and only a full point to 536 on 2/8. Powerful gear with the higher soft caps guarantee you will get an increase on all pieces of gear, with a full point increase on 6/8 of them. In this situation, it's best to go with a higher soft cap activity. You could gamble and try the lower soft cap activities, and that might actually be a smart move if you have way more of them left for the week than the higher ones.

It's not always optimal to do the higher soft cap activities above 520, though. Take this scenario:

Kinetic - 538
Energy - 536
Power - 533
Helmet - 528
Gauntlets - 520
Chest Armor - 532
Leg Armor - 525
Class Item - 524
Average - 529.5

Here, 4/8 gear will see an upgrade if you do a 520 soft cap activity, 3/8 boosting you up to 530 average. Given that you probably have more opportunities for 520 soft cap gear, and that higher soft cap activities wouldn't even raise the level of 2/8 pieces of gear, I'd say doing a 520 soft cap would be optimal here.

Do you not fancy waiting 40 minutes in the guided games queue?

I've also not done a nightfall yet.

So when I hit 540, the only way to get better gear is through the Nightfall?

I cant even try that as im not at the light level as yet lol

What's the deal with the Drifter flipping a two sided coin with 5 possible outcomes?

IIRC the one he flips has his insignia on both sides anyways so it was confusing me at first but sometimes the scene will show him playing with all of them.

So I guess there is some kind of system in place for the IB concerning armor acquisition as I completed my Hunter set after just 9 matches where as in vanilla Destiny 2 and the first IB it took 42 engram packages (840 tokens) to finally get a full set. Concerning the latter, that was when it was 2 tokens per loss and 5 per win I believe so yeah that was a lot of time spent in the IB.

Wait Wait Wait Wait Wait

i decided to go on Nessus and while fucking around i killed a normal Fallen Captain (red bar) and the next thing i see on the right side is that i got a Catalyst drop for Strum. WTF?

RNG indeed.

For the past couple of weeks I've been doing junk first and saving nightfall/petra stuff for last, and I've managed to get past 560 without touching the raid. That includes losing 2 offerings to that stupid bug, so I personally think it's the way to go. Normally while doing the lower end stuff I'll also be accumulating prime engrams/exotics to boost my power level and the powerful stuff at the end boosts me further.

Then again some of my friends who claim they're doing the same thing are at around 540ish power level while doing all the same stuff I did, so maybe I just got lucky with drops, I dunno.
It probably doesn't matter a great deal either way. I think my way relies a lot more on good RNG though. As if you don't get a drop for that specific slot that's letting you down, you've just wasted your time.

Man. The more I play Forsaken, the more turned off I get - and I'm well aware that I'm in the huge minority here.

The time commitment it expects is so high it's actually ridiculous. I've easily put in 50-60 hours since it was released and not earned any of the new exotic items yet, outside of the quest ones. I'm still hopelessly underlevelled to attempt the raid, and when I do get there I'll be expected to sift through LFG groups asking for 100+ clears and 580 Power. Matchmaking solo is horrendously bad in all competitive Crucible playlists and Gambit.

Super glad everyone else is loving it, but there's just no way I can play enough to get the most out of this thing. I'm a little put out.

Despite what many people here think I do work. 30-35 hours a week. Plus I go to gym and have (somewhat) of a social life. Besides sleeping, the rest of my free time is spent playing this game. I guess you can call me one of those "no lifers" who plays non stop. I know some legit "no lifers" and even they think there is too much to do. I'm not necessarily complaining though. It's a good "problem" to have.

I also play A LOT. More so than your typical player. So, odds are, I'm going to get more drops too.

The only thing I'm currently struggling with is grinding Prime Engrams on all 3 characters as I'm generally just doing that on my Hunter as I don't have the time to do it on my other two. If it happens early on in a play-session, great but I don't have the time otherwise. It was fine when I had two weeks off and did nothing but play Forsaken everyday all day and night.

Which sucks but it is what it is I guess. I literally must have murdered 500 yellow bars the other day before one dropped for my Hunter too which isn't helping anything.

I do have a theory though which may be way off...I think there is an increased chance of Prime Engrams dropping in strikes and I think there is an increased chance of Exotics dropping in Gambit if I'm going from my experience alone.

I feel sorry for anyone who doesn't have the Sleeper Simulant catalyst/ masterwork right now. Good luck finding anyone willing to do a Prestige SOS and then being lucky enough for it to drop. And then have fun grinding that out too, assuming you have all three EP weapons...

New players missed A LOT.

I asked before but no response. Are any of the stat tracking sites tracking Gambit stats yet? I can't seem to find any.

The game is better off than it was, but you're not wrong at all with what they've done to the grind. It's now just a mindless slog to get to raid capable light level and there's absolutely nothing to show for the journey. It's just a time sink. You get no new abilities for leveling up. Just one slow step closer to being able to attempt the raid. Still way better than D2 launch in terms of how the game feels and plays though.

Game's been out 3 weeks, play a couple hours a day and you're at 40 hours total, is 60 (adding 1 hour per day) really so insane?

Assuming I didn't screw up, according to my quick and dirty (sloppy) math, I've but in about 200 hours of time since Forsaken has dropped.

Made it to the Vault with some people. We probably wont finish this weekend, but next week after a fresh reset it will definitely be much easier. Took us a bit to get down Shuro Chi since it's kinda picky on the plates. Morgeth was annoying until we just did the shotgun strat, then it was an easy 2 phase.

210 for me according to that. That included two weeks of free time to play it though. I like Destiny.

I basically took off two weeks from work for Forsaken, lol. I absolutely had to be ready for the raid. No way in hell I wasn't, at the very least, getting a clear before the first reset. I impose high standards on myself. Still, I do it because its fun. I love this game.

Yep. Especially since it seems like almost everyone in gambit is starting to use the EP Shotty and Sleeper, people who don't have them are missing out.

No prestige SoS myself so no sleeper catalyst. At least I have the EP weapons.

Goodness. I honestly don't know how you find the time.

I just started getting back into a normal and healthy routine again. No more 14 hour days lol. Needless to say, I didn't sleep much these last two weeks at all. I was pretty beat. I'm at work right now, cruising. Feeling good.

But to answer your question, not being married and not having kids helps a lot. Just me, myself and I. For now, I wouldn't want it either way.

My last relationship was nearly 6 years long, lived together for 2. Need a good solid break and time to myself

If I'm being honest here, the Midnight Coup, EP Shotgun, and Sleeper is my go to loadout for almost everything with the exception of switching out the Tigerspite AR for the Midnight Coup in PvP.

I mean I have a lot of god roll type Forsaken weapons but nothing that tops the holy trinity loadout.

So I went straight to Shaxx for today's bounties after the reset. 2 of those bounties say I already completed them, only 3 were reset. What is this? And no, I don't have those active already. Want to get the class item someday so I can complete the quest for powerful gear.

Also was there a double reset again? There isn't a new daily for me.

I'm starting to get slightly annoyed at the glimmer cap. Working my way through Curse of Osiris and Warmind (about to start Forsaken) and i'm at the point where i've bought even the green ships/sparrows from Amanda just to unlock them in the collection. Used to be able to buy treasure maps and i think consumable items to boost planetary rep items from Cayde, but he's gone from the Tower. I know some new vendor unlocks in Forsaken, but i hope that's soon.

Just do the sleeper quest, you can do that without anyone.

And you can go back to farm EP there are still LFG groups for that. Just wait till a week when only the shotgun drops to make grinding less frustrating.

TBH as someone who never got weapons such as touch of malice or FB in destiny 1 despite 600 hours of play... there's never one specific thing you need to have fun.
