I just pay it because i am too lazy to lrave. Plus, it's only a couple dollars. That's like half a banana.
I find it interesting how a lot of people in this thread are pointing out laziness as the primary factor yet Amazon is praised by many around here which often also comes down to the same criteria.
Amazon is also usually cheaper than physical stores. So not exactly the same. This is kind of true. It's just laziness, which I'm guilty of.
Not these days. There was a time when that was the case but that's not the current Amazon.Amazon is also usually cheaper than physical stores. So not exactly the same.
I mean, I drive for Waitr/Doordash, and that money's how they pay us
They steal our tips, any tips you put in the app go to the company, not to us
So the only pay we get is that charge
I haven't used those service but f them if they're tricking customers into fake tipping.
Is there no way to reward the delivery guy through the app?
Yepperz. I can't tell you how much I've saved by picking up my own food. Take that, Applebee's!!
Because it's worth 7 extra dollars to save me a half hour round trip to pick the food up, personally. Then why do I see so many people saying how much they love these apps? Astroturfers?
Not everyone can drive or has a car. That's because it is a rip-off. You're paying for the convenience of not having to leave the house or interact with more than one person.
They're worth the extra cash during an anxious day or something but otherwise just order pickup and take a quick drive.
Then you gotta pay for delivery.
Why won't people get in their car and bring me my food for free?

This is what I do. Adding an extra $5 to all my meals would cost a fortune if I added it up over a year.
From the ones I worked with, apps take a percentage cut from the order that isn't even counted toward the delivery process. so even if the restaurant takes no extra profit from delivery(most smaller restaurants don't seem to), it will still end up about 25 to 35% more expensive for the cheaper items. And you know it would be different if I knew most of the money was at least going to the workers, but it isn't.
That cut usually varies from 15% (if the restaurant does delivery themselves) up to 30% (Uber Eats takes care of it).The delivery companies take a cut on what the restaurant earns so the restaurants raise the prices.
No, I can get great things, like good Indian food delivered. At home with my garlic naan and my paneer? Fuck y'all, I'm eating good tonight. Still in my underwear. Then why do I see so many people saying how much they love these apps? Astroturfers?
In China it's usually cheaper to order food. Just another thing capitalism gets wrong
