What the hell, Nintendo? Not even for single player? And no pro controller, either? You have to be shitting me.

That's really interesting. Oh wait, table top is practically hand held. It's just because it has waggle controls .I thought for a moment it didn't have any sort of image on the screen when undocked. That would've been insane lol

I mean, it makes sense but I thought it was interesting. Is this the first game that won't be playable in handheld mode? It is still portable but must be played in table top mode.

http://www.nintendolife.com/news/20...or_nintendo_switch_wont_support_handheld_mode

no handheld, no pro controller, and no online board? They sure seem to be limiting this game.

No, it isn't the first game. And Mario Party in handheld don't make that much of sense, unlike in Tabletop mode which you can separate the joycons.

Makes sense.

Mini games are designed for single joy con play, it's part of the charm/has a built in gimmick. Makes sense that you would need to detach to play.

Technically this was also the case for 1-2-Switch, no? If the minigames are designed as a showcase for Joy-Con tech, tabletop only is fine.

Minigames are designed around a single Joycon and many use Wii styled motion controls. Kinda makes sense

So what are they gonna do for all the games which require you to use the motion?

Granted only 3 of the 5 I played at a Demo required it, but push that to 80 and you got on average 48 games which might require motion maybe.

Seems like it was expected from the start and there should be no outrage.

I mean it all makes sense given the game's context. It's a party game, why would you want to not play it with the controllers? Pro controller not being supported is annoying but since Wii Mario Party has been all about motion mechanics so it seems reasonable to expect such mechanics in this.

Honestly this makes sense. I thought this meant tabletop mode when I read the title, but sounds like that is still in.

It doesn't really make sense to play handheld. Obviously you can do tabletop

It's kind of bs about the pro controller but it makes sense cause some of the minigames require motion that is more than just gyro. Like the one where you cook the meat. How can you do that with a pro controller?

Whats the point of the pro controller if games won't support it?

The joy cons are required here for motion control. It is a party game afterall.

But addressing your point overall, the support for the Pro controller is miles better than what Nintendo did with the WiiU and its pro controller. You could probably count the switch games on two hands that don't have pro controller support.

It would be kind of fun to see players wiggling the Pro Controllers across the room using the gyro.

Whats the point of the pro controller if games won't support it?

This is honestly the most annoying thing as I have a pro controller. Now I have to buy another joycon set if I want to play 3 people

The point is the 99% of games that do use it? Why are people getting so bent out of shape about the like 3 or 4 games that cant use the pro con based on being motion or touch based like its every game on the market? I dont even care about Mario Party (Just Giant Bombs coverage of it) but the reaction to people thinking the Pro con is a useless controller becuse mario party wont use it is laughable.

You are assuming things which don't exist. I love the pro controller and don't find it useless at all. This is just a little annoying.

Tabletop mode isn't a 3rd fucking mode.

It's either in the dock, or it's not. That article titles makes it seem like it doesn't work out of the dock.

* 1-2-Switch doesn't support the Pro Controller
* Labo doesn't support the Pro Controller
* Severed doesn't support docked mode
* And so on

What? You just assumed you could play all the games that have you lift, extend or rotate the controller...in Handheld mode? Seriously?

If you were interested in buying surely you would have been aware? Even then, tabletop mode is still there.

It's clear that despite all evidence to the contrary, they refused to believe that a game where a good chunk of the minigames requires motion controls to play required using something with motion controls.

Yeah a majority of the mini games would be unplayable in handheld/ with the pro controller.

While I normally like to have my controller options. The way some of these mini-games work (if not all, I haven't watched too many videos) it makes sense. It still sucks but at least there is an actual reason for the lack of choice.

Still sad about no online board. Would have been nice as a friend only online mode.
