What does this say about the PS vita version of Tales of Borderlands game we were all promised and that SIE even advertised?

Yeah very curious how and why this came to be if true. Hope they're able to finish the Final Season of TWD at least with this potentially happening.

Edit: Wow looking to be true. That's a HUGE amount of people. Yeah looking like they're going to close after TWD is done. Curious if this is going to change the release schedule in anyway.

This is definitely going to be an interesting story as to how things went wrong with what seemed to have been a successful company.

Crazy shit. I'm not surprised though, the company grew too fast.

I hope the people who lost their jobs finds something new fast.

Ex CEO Kevin Bruner is currently suing which probably didn't help their profits.

Some people don't like their games; I've enjoyed almost all of them. Telltale's library definitely fills a void in the genres I play.

Quite a lot of studios pretty much dissolving recently. Hope those people manage to find a new job quickly. This industry is crazy.

That's crazy!

I feel bad for the people laid off and hope they get hired quickly or even form new studios.

Also, if they're not truly dead for now, I hope they decide to go for a quality over quantity mindset. Maybe even make a few "fully featured" games as well instead of just episodic content.

285 of 310 is a substantial layoff. I presume the remaining 25 are temporary to close up loose ends or whatever.

I assumed they were doing pretty well financially, this is crazy.

I really enjoy TT stuff even when it's bad, i've played damn near every game they've put out since The Walking Dead and it looked like they were finally evolving with season 4. This is a bummer.

Hopefully everyone who lost their job lands on their feet.

It's not much better than shutting down completely, that's still a ton of people suddenly out of jobs. Hopefully they can land on their feet.

Can 25 people be enough to actually release a game of theirs? Like maybe 1 episode at year or something like that.

Those are massive layoffs, sorry to all involved and I hope they find their next step. I can only guess that it must have been a huge amount on licensing fees that they couldn't recoup through sales. They did so well with Walking Dead and Wolf Among Us at the beginning and then they spread themselves thin with way too many titles from other franchises.

wut. Seems like most of their games sold very well? Especially as none of them are that of high budget.

The question is less how much did they sell and more when did they sell. I think their early huge delays between episodes followed by big discounts before the season was finished trained people to only buy these games at firesale prices. The comic adaptations didn't really have that much buzz either. I wouldn't be surprised if Minecraft is their only big success in a few years.

Yeah, there is definitely something weird going on like Piscatella is saying.

Hope the people that were layed off land on their feet, though. Lots of good writers, for example.

Expecting the full closure after they finish TWD.

The stories that's going to be coming out about what happened though.

Man, I always remember Colin Moriarty saying they were juggling way too many projects and the lack of significant improvements to their engines wasn't forward thinking enough.

Didn't expect to hear this mid-Walking Dead though. Figured they'd finish a season of something and would go silent a bit before eventually hinting at possible financial issues.

Their engine needed a complete overhaul desperately for ages, the GOT games looked so bad that I was convinced something was wrong on my desktop the first time I fired it up

Just enough people to get the final TWD Season finished I guess? Didn't expect to hear this kind of news today.

With the amount of people left, it seems like either wind-down mode or completely start-over mode. Is season 4 of TWD completely released yet?

Sucks to see that many people lose their jobs, but my lone experience with Telltale remains getting Season 1 of The Walking Dead on PC and the game repeatedly crashing and never carrying over my choices to the next chapter no matter what I did. Not sure if they ever fixed it but if they did, I didn't care anymore by the time they did.

Wow, even after reading about their toxic culture a few months ago I didn't think this would happen. That is nuts. Hope everyone lands on their feet. :(

Wow, only 25 out of 250 people left? That's insane. Best of luck to those who lost their jobs today. I'm guessing Wolf Among Us S2 and the Stranger Things project will never see the light of day. :(

I'll be honest, I'm actually surprised that so many people seem to be shocked by this.

Didn't it feel as if Telltale bit off more than they could chew? I always thought there could be issues with the number of licenses they were picking up.

That being said, the number is pretty surprising so I guess the shock might come from that. I mean, if it's really 250 down to 25, that is basically killing the studio.
