I'll admit I was overly judgmental, I don't personally like the 'gamer' archetype who lives and breathes videogames too much.

But my opinion on clothes vs interests remains unchanged, and i'ts just personal preference I guess. I don't feel any requirement to adorn my clothes with various pop-culture media I happen to enjoy. And I don't know all that many people that wear shirts like that, actually. Maybe at the gym? This totally could be a cultural thing. In fact, one of the key things I like about my wardrobe is a lack of visible brandnames and/or graphics. It's all about colour, cut and fabric.

But as for your question, if you'd ask me directly, I wouldn't call a 30 year old wearing a Star Wars T-shirt a sharp dresser. That's all i'm saying. It's fine, it's generic, kinda bland. But i'd say that about a 30-year old wearing a poorly fitting hoodie either way regardless of what design is on there. I freely admit that i'm kinda particular about clothes.

I will say there's some really cool designs in this thread though. Fortunately we've long passed the era of 'hurr durr I got three more lives' kinda shirts. Sadly it's usually still mostly hoodies or boxy tees.
Many people don't care about looking fashionable. In fact, many people feel like they can't afford to and cater their wardrobe around their limited budget or have evolved their tastes starting from more frugal beginnings. Knowing your own tastes is fine but you sound awfully judgemental and condescending when all anyone is taking about is clothes. Wearing your interests doesn't suddenly make it your sole identity. Everything is not a statement even if you'd personally perceive it as one for yourself.

Yikes LOL

It normally depends on where i'm going. Normally i prefer to not stand out in general so I go along the consensus here with clothing that's discreet/ambiguous for the most part. I actually beefed up my collection recently. It basically depends of where i'm going cons and stuff i have no issues going all out gaming merch. But I think you can have a good balance between style and gaming like having a gaming shirt under a button up or accenting it etc. It all depends really.

I've got a handful of shirts from over the years/paxes. Most of them I wear when I don't give a fuck.

If I'm meeting folks I want to look nicer for I've got plenty of clothes for that too. However I'm in an industry that let's you wear what's comfortable so there's no pressure. I personally am stoked I don't have to wear button ups anymore.

I still do, but I can't stand the shirts with obnoxious text on it. I wear shirts with a character on it when I can but the vast majority of the time I'll just have a character branded hat on.

I don't find it embarrassing and I also happen to not really care but what I do wear have been good icebreakers.

But again I don't wear those awful ''gamer 4 lyfe" type of shirts lol.

I tend to prefer more subtle designs and patterns that still give a gaming nod to those who recognize it. I'm currently on the hunt for a solid day bag/mini messenger bag that I can customize to have the Kingdom Hearts icon tile pattern as the interior lining.

Frustratingly the more direct graphic designs that I like seem to all be Japanese only or only available to game company staff, always leading to long hunts with no results.

I like wearing gamer tees that only other gamers would recognize like umbrella logo, Fenix family crest, hyrule crest, etc.

I usually avoid them, not due to the designs but due to the quality of the materials and construction especially when combined with the inflated price.

I've been given a few items over the years as gifts and they are usually relegated to gardening/housework/DIY wear pretty quickly.

I have an OWL lanyard which I have my keys attached to - it usually hangs out my back pocket.. does that count?

I wouldn't be opposed to wearing a gaming related tshirt/hoodie either, as long as it's casual.

I don't wear the "gamer" stuff because it sounds kinda pompous, as if I'm putting myself on a pedestal.

I do wear videogame or animation-related stuff all the time though. I don't see anything wrong with it unless the place where I am is "out of place", like work or important meetings of course.

Of course, if I'm spending an evening with close friends, or going to a con or travel I don't really care about people judging me.

I wear my Diablo shirt pretty much everywhere.

Looks kinda like a band-tee, so it's pretty standard looking for me.

The nba jam and street fighter 2 shirts from homage.com are great. I wear those and a Mario 2ish vintage slim fit from target.

I have this one and wear it in public regularly, mostly to the gym though:

Have had it for years, kinda all faded now, the colors of the letters and the paragon/renegade symbols are faded, couldn't read it unless you really tried. There was one person who made a comment in regard to it in all the time I've worn it.

No, I don't want to be associated with the gerneral "gamer" population in public. Gaming might be more accepted in society as a past time, but gamers still have the association of "smelly, dorito stained, guy who never baths, lives with his parent, hates women and is forever alone". Even game stores like GameStop are always the dirtiest stores in any location you go to. I want to enjoy games, sometimes talk about them, but otherwise they are a private pastime for me.

I have the Smash Bros Wii U/3DS tshirt from E3 2014 or whatever the year was and every single time I wear it, without fail, some random person will comment on it and say something to the effect of "Smash Bros, that's awesome!" It truly is a cultural phenomenon.

I have a few gaming t-shirts. I would never wear them in public because they are shit quality. I have never seen a gaming garment that was of high quality, ever. Awful plastic printed graphics seem to be the norm. I am aware of the endless number of printing processes as my wife is a fashion buyer.

I would wear a good quality t-shirt that was tastefully designed. But I don't think these garments are designed by people in the clothing industry.

I've always been picky about the fabric and feel of my clothes. I often compliment colleagues on their t-shirts, because they do look cool, but I would be uncomfortable in them.

I have a couple Gearbox focus group t-shirts that I wear, it's not overly "gamery" unless you know what Gearbox is

I work at a gaming company, but rarely wear gaming shirts. Hoodies, jackets, and hats though? Those are all related to our products.

I do wear t shirts with abstract art and references to games. My current favorite is the "Redemption" t shirt from Rockstar.

I generally do wear graphic tees, most of which are game related. However, I hate the cringy "gamer" shirts with lots of text, I tend to buy ones with no text and have a very pleasing artist design to them. Yetee tends to have some really nice shirts once in a while.

Absolutely. I have quite a large collection of gaming shirts, many of them custom made (via RedBubble). I often receive compliments on them, particularly my Sierra logo tee. One dude walked up to me in a grocery store, of all places, to tell me my shirt made his day, then as he walked away began explaining to his girlfriend what the logo was.

No. Not in years I haven't. Well, there is one significant exception, but it's a little bit ironic and done in part to entertain my friends.

I own Aiden Pearce's iconic cap.

If I wear music or movie themed tshirt, why not game? The thing is, it's hard to find good game related clothes.

I wear some Destiny shirts. I used to wear a Doom shirt, but it's not advisable given my current living situation. I have a Homeworld logo shirt, but it shrunk in the wash. Too short. Never buy 100% cotton. :(

yo is that a tri-blend? Where'd you get it?

Yes it's a tri-blend. Bought it from the Bethesda online store but it's not available anymore unfortunately.
