I mean, to be fair, he hasn't spoken out DIRECTLY about her prior to this, but he's insinuated she's lying and been talking about poor Judge Kavanaugh this whole time. It's not shocking that the president who has admitted to sexual assault can only find empathy for men accused of sexual assault but hey.

Also, even if he hadn't, this whole thing has been disgusting. Case in point...

"plow right through" seems like an awfully bad choice of words given the circumstances

Might as well just go "we're gonna force Kavanaugh onto the American people without their consent"

Gross.

Yeah, encouraging a thorough background check of a supreme court nominee who has already lied under oath is a dirty play.

It could be? Imagine if he's wrongly accused, investigated for months, cannot get nominated, Dems delay the nomination for ages as they sweep November.

All that using woman's rape accusation 30 years after the fact. That'll take the wind out of "me too" very fast.

There are certainly other motives here than just that woman's decision to come out. I only hope that they are honorable and just and what she's telling is true. Considering how this sure is aggressively left leaning and pro- let's believe women by default (even though it's not guilty until proven so and even 100% scumbag Weinstein had not been prosecuted and sentenced yet), it would be reasonably scary if it's not the case and this is a lastl minute political move. "Me too" lives by you putting faith in women and this can cause some serious blowback of someone finds one high level fraud case.

Here I'm just saying the timing is indeed magical. There should be a proper hearing. One way or another this will blow up. A lot of people think it'll blow up Kavanagh - but I'm scared of the opposite.

I legit don't know how to contact the FBI and I imagine it'd be even harder to do pre-digital age.

What a despicable piece of shit he's been proven to be time after time again. We really need to burn this fucking system down to the ground cause it's rotten to the core.

I know why Trump still would want Kavanaugh confirmed, but I'm not really sure why the rest of the GOP doesn't just kick him to the curb and request a new candidate from the WH.

I'm thinking it's mostly because they realize that the only thing they really have to keep their base on their side anymore is to continue to preserve their sense of white guy privilege.

you should report him than because your posts really make it seem like you don't believe her and because someone calling you out doesn't mean he's bullying you.
Jesus, it's not that I believe her or don't believe her. That's not how it works. Same goes for Kav. This black and white way of thinking is straight out of the Rove/Cheney playbook.

McConnell has accomplished a lot just by ignoring decorum and precedent and just pushing everything through using every dirty trick in the book.

No surprise he's not going to change his game plan for something like this. Dude has no shame whatsoever, and so neither does the Republican Senate.

1,070 characters of concern trolling.

Are you just ignoring that there is evidence that she has spoken out in the past? What about the fact that she and all the angry democrats want the investigation to happen and the republicans are doing everything they can to prevent it?

We do. Quite often on ERA. But we don't talk about the women who empower this. Please don't deflect.

Don't deflect? Do you know what thread you're posting in? A thread discussing the poster boy for toxic masculinity dismissing yet another sexual assault victim.

Women empower Trump my ass, if it were up to men the GOP would have the power to rewrite the Constitution.

I mean, fuck Trump. But holy shit he might have just sunk Kavanaugh and/or the GOP depending on their reaction. There's still a few weeks left for people to register to vote.

The GOP already knows he's a dirty pick. I'd absolutely love it if this makes him so tainted that the GOP freaks out and dumps him to try to salvage their own careers.

Yeah, it's really suspicious. Why would a woman do an incredibly difficult thing like making her traumatic experience known when the man in question is nominated for one of the highest positions in the US, one that will define the liberties (or lack thereof) of women for the next 30 years? It must be a dirty ploy, not the right thing to do.

I feel like all these concern trolling accusations should count as personal attacks then by definition? I do not believe I'm trolling, I'm running on the premise of extremely suspicious timing and I state my position. And I do stand by that: how come it took till last week of hearings? You calling me a troll is not an argument it's a baseless accusation at best.

As for your question-trolling. Evidence is for the trial to see. As for Dem/Rep showdown I call it politics as usual. It's not like you don't expect Democrats to paralyse the system the way Republicans did under Obama if they win November.

No reason to, people are attacking your discourse and its apparent bad faith, not your person.

If you at least came out and just said "I don't believe her", that would be somehow more tolerable than the transparent handwringing over the timing, dirty tactics and oh no, another victim of false rape allegations, let's entertain that.

What?

Concern trolling is when you pretend to be on one side but only presents bullshit points to discredit it. You claim to care about the Me Too movement, but then say that this woman is making up her story.

You are also ignoring the fact that there is proof of her talking about this way before the last week of hearings.

I'm sorry you feel attacked, imagine being sexually assaulted and then being attacked by the president.

By the numbers sexual assaults are more likely to stay hidden than reported. Moreover Trump claiming that the FBI would suddenly take a look at this back in the 80's isn't even worth discussing since that's not how it works. The FBI would not have been involved back then, the GOP is basically twisting logic any way they can to ignore the fact that they could be investigating now though.

Trump's approval rating among young white women is 30 percent. It's over 50 percent with older white women.

Also to the guy in this thread saying he can't pass judgement, what do you think about this:

This guy is guilty to me. In fact, I doubt she's the first one he tried this on either. Covering her mouth and turning up the music sounds like something he had worked out in advance, either by design or from experience.

I believe her.

Again, you realize even after "grab 'em by the pussy" was doubled-down upon, white women still were his strongest voting bloc; and after evangelicals, white women are STILL give him a higher approval rating than other demographics?
Wish I could provide stats to prove you wrong...

Support for Kavanewwgh among GOP women went up 8 points.

This fucking guy. There's no doubt he said the same thing at his rally of brainless buffoons. Since it was well received there, he figured it'd be fine to tweet that shit out.

This fucking asshole is doing so much damn damage to the culture of this country, for women in particular. I hate that my two little girls are going to have to live through the aftermath of his shitty existence.

THIS is why women don't come out and state that they were attacked. Because of stupid ass troglodytes like the president.

I don't understand why people are attacking white women in this thread. There are a ton of them that are deplorable human beings, but as a group they are so much better than white men that I don't see the point in specifically targeting them.

That is especially true when you look at the number of progressive Millennial women. As a group they are the largest threat to conservatism that has ever existed in this country (the numbers are seriously shocking). They will save this country if we get out of their way.

Those of us that are decent men need to go after our own toxic breathren way before we even think about blaming women for our problems.

??? Because this election was white women's to lose, and they gladly handed it over to Trump.

White women have never wanted to displace racism, classism and sexism, they have historically ALWAYS just wanted the same benefits white men have so they can ALSO shit on minorities. This shit dates back to women's suffrage and further back.

People blame white women because they are FACTUALLY responsible for voting for this dude

Conservative white men want to keep power away from minorities and women so they feel big and powerful. If it was in style, I'm sure that conservative white men would love to own slaves and beat women into submission. Just like the good old days.

That seems like almost a parody of a "rape culture doesn't exist" talking point. Most women do not report sexual assaults and rapes to authorities, largely because they are so readily disbelieved and slut shamed. Predators take advantage of this power discrepancy to prey on people lower in social stature.

Also, I know this tweet says "local law enforcement", but his live interview yesterday he suggested the FBI . Would he really want Angry Democrats performing a WITCH HUNT on a Good Man who was treated VERY UNFAIRLY?
Too much nuance for Trump, my man.

I don't think the timing is coincidental. Dr. Ford saw a monster about to get appointed to the highest court in the land and that compelled her to tell her story, at great personal sacrifice.

There's a ton of evidence that she was assaulted. No reasonable person can question that something took place at this point.

If the GOP truly believes that this is a case of mistaken identity or something (they don't) then Kav should take a lie detector test and also testify under oath. Not sure if either of these things are planned as I've not had a chance to read through all of the developments.
