Angola / Zaire border region.
It is nuts that the hairstyles available to you are dependent on how long your hair currently is. Can't wait to see some of the endgame styles.. hoping for waist-length rasta dreads and triple pony tails.

I love the sound of everything to the point where I kind of don't want to hear anymore and just go blackout

On the first playthrough, I'm not cutting Arthur's hair until he looks like ZZ Top.

Nobody ever gets into the details of these things. People just shovel everything under "guns feel good" with vague comparisons to Max Payne or RDR1 with no actual in depth talk about character movement, responsiveness, aiming tightness, intuitive quality of life changes, etc.
I do find that weird as well. Reviews never really go into depth with how a game feels and imo it's the most important aspect of a game.

Digging this so far, never heard of them till today.

Takeaways just a few minutes in:
Interactivity with NPCs is unheard of. This is next gen stuff.
You can't kill or lasso kids (good). But you can be a dick to them and verbally abuse them.
You can train your hose to kick, and side kick.
AI is crazy. Just because someone was nearby doesn't mean they witnessed the crime. NPCs hold grudges.

Is this the first open world from rockstar with kids?

the game will take so long to release on PC there's no reason not to double dip
I mean the reason un my case is that the GTAV experience on last gen was horrible, 15 FPS during car sections was horrible. And then when I bought it on PC replaying the game didnt hold my interested.

I Will try to wait until the PC or next gen version. I just hope I don't spoil myself. But a "performance mode" on Xbox one X or PS4 pro would be great.

Are there any previews that arent unversally positive?

Every one I've seen seems to just be lavishing praise on the game. I'm sure it is an amazing game given rockstars pedigree (and I think GTA V is one of the best games ever made) but its good to see some counterpoints.

What about the awful dead zones and aiming acceleration?
If GTA V is anything to go by, they'll have the options to adjust aim acceleration, sensitivity, and deadzones for both first and third-person.
I really hope Arthur doesn't feel like he weights 300 pounds. It's one of my biggest gripes with GTA IV & V.
According to a translation of this preview from Metalz from GTAF :
Q: "Are the character's movement better or the walking controls are still unconfrortable?"

A: "Arthur seemed very heavy while walking. It'll take some time to get used to it, given how cumbersome the movements feel. It's nowhere near as good as Gears of War or Max Payne. We don't know if this heaviness is intentional or not."

Best to make peace with it now, I guess. I'm reminded of a GTA V preview posted on gaf that made mention of how the turn circle in that game was fluid and better than the one in Max Payne 3. Obviously, that wasn't the case in the final game, lol.

Ugh, why can't we just do sharp turns?

The game still has the typical Rockstar sluggishness control-wise?

:/

I legitimately might not buy the game because of this. It may sound silly, but for as detailed and full of life as their world's tend to be, if the very act of moving my character around is needlessly cumbersome and sluggish, it's a huge turnoff. It's not really for any perceptible reason either. It's not like there's a level of mastery you can attain over your character to more efficiently traverse the world, the controls are just slow and clunky... just because. I don't get it.

I really, really want to like Rockstar's games - I've thrown myself at most of them trying to truly get myself engrossed, but I bounce off almost every single time for the same core reason. I think I just gotta accept that their output isn't for me.

More stuff from the Red Dead Radio video I posted above:
General Stores sell everything. From pants to hair gel to custom spurs and engraved saddles. Everything is modeled and you have to pick it up to purchase.

John and Arthur don't seem to like each other much. They don't think Arthur is the Obi Wan to John, but is certianly a major influence on his character. John in the demo is young, cocksure, and injured.

There are pages of written descriptions of all the items and guns for purchase. Sears magazine style.

Blood and gore is "gross". Hunting doesn't feel like simply gathering resources. There's a weight to it.

They watched a dude get kicked in the head by his own horse trying to remove a horse shoe. They felt legit bad for him as they stopped in the road to help the man out. He never got up.

Jack's AI seems really complex. He is all over the place and freaked out the gang because he wasn't where he should be.

They tried to pick up a dead opossum near a rotting deer. Ended up it was playing possum and tried to attack them. Focus mode seems amazing with all the options you get.

They hid behind a wagon during a shootout and pieces of it were taken out with each shot. Same with barrels. Didn't feel like they had a health bar, but physically fell apart with each shot.

Kind of concerned at the lack of gameplay footage for a game that comes out in like a month.

Crazy how we've seen more CyberPunk footage than all Red Dead footage combined.
I don't mind, hell I'm not reading/watching any of the previews..

I'm also not as hyped for this game as everyone else.. I'm interested because I like RDR.. The timeline for this game still hasn't clicked with me.
I hope the game-play is good as the characters don't interest me in the slightest.

Here's hoping they finally switched to a circle deadzone and consistent accleration.

Still can't believe that most devs are still getting aim mechanics wrong. No excuse for still using square deadzones over circle.
