Let's hope that Square takes an active hand in any game that results from this with funding, cinematics, music and co-development.
Not like Fear Effect Sedna that resulted from the Square Enix Collective. Indie games are great but I'd love to see something like this on a much larger budget.

Looks really nice, I'd love to see cyberpunk/high technology take over for magic and monsters for awhile.

Although doesn't look like he's listed, pretty certain the music is by Masashi Hamauzu. Sounds like his work, at any rate.

At any rate, that was... something. Kinda curious to see if anything'll come from it.

oh man this is dope, i would probably be pretty disappointed if this resulted in a project too far off from this setting and style.

Whoever runs business development at Square Enix needs their head examined, and I'm not talking about the contents of the trailer.

Midgar, With Love
Glad to see based Xenogears remake is finally happening. Recasting Bartholomew Fatima as a woman is an interesting deviation and I'm not sure what to make of the lack of mecha in the reveal trailer but everything else looks spot-on.

Damn, that was one heck of a kiss. Maybe you robot ladies should reign it in a little for the next smooch.

Going by the description I don't know what are they trying "to sell" a concept?
Why any company would want to buy this if they have to do all the work?

So they are looking for contractors to make a game for them but still keep the rights?

The contractors in question are better off making their own thing and keep the IP.

Main chick looks like something of a mix between Beatrix and Lightning.

Also, what's with JRPGs and heterochromia?

The whole thing gave me Drakengard 3 vibes...but more futuristic of course. The girls made me think of Zero and the designs look like they'd fit in with Nier/Drakengard

They're not necessarily looking for a game or even making one. Anything to license their "character" in the concept video out.

I love this and watched it 8 times already. It brings to mind Ghost in the Shell, Orion, Akira, Wicked City and Ninja Scroll.

That portal at the end is intriguing, I'm imagining multiple dimensions with the same space Tokyo, each controlled by rival factions, with bosses you have to defeat and take parts from to gain new abilities. Each reality is governed by supernatural guidelines and restrictions that determine what magic and tactics the player uses will be effective there.

A dark cyber magic horror game with high production values would be amazing!

Lol at SE selling a character design (without rights). Good luck with that.

I wonder if this was a cancelled project that they might be trying to get some money back on.

Amazing concept though and I hope they use it somewhere.

I can't think of any good reason that Nier 3 couldn't just be this
Yeah, same. Not a fan of the character design (face, eyepatch), but the concept looks amazing. Plus replace guns with sword/melee.

These are literally all the points I'd raise about this project. Get rid of this messy MC design with eye patch and work something else, replace guns with melee, and the game would appeal to me immediately. The settings look INCREDIBLY awesome, loving the enemy designs probably inspired by the horrible (but artistically salvageable) GitS movie.

I don't really understand what the goal is here. The trailer looked cool, but obviously would need to know more about it but from a business standpoint I don't get it.

A character made by a horny ternager in Discount Midgar. Thrilling

Honestly can't wait to hear from people that it needs to be a game for the next decade like Agni

At least Agni was kind of interesting as a setting. This is just lots of really popular cliches mashed together.

And I imagine they aren't super serious with licensing it out... This sort of thing is made to justify keeping staff on at Visual Works inbetween projects.

As usual like for Agni's Philosophy their concept trailers are very interesting. Too bad they never develop in anything more than a tech showcase. Please make a game like that...

I mean, that's how it is not only in Japan but in the world for the majority of the cases with video game. For example, Octopath Traveler was developed by Acquire which is a contracted external studio but the IP is owned by Square Enix.

This is some straight up nonsense, regardless of the contents of the video.
It's stupid no matter what, who wants to license a unknown character, etc... when they can create their own?
I mean, sexy cyborg girls aren't a S-E patented thing.
Reading those conditions.... Wow.

Can't agree more.

If anyone out there who's creative and has any sense at all, or even just a brain, then nothing will come of this. I see absolutely no benefit whatsoever in taking up their offer.
