The Last of US went on to sell 17 million copies in no small part because of the remaster. I don't think Sony will want to give that revenue stream anytime soon. I can see PS4 BC made it in PS5, but it probably won't be enhanched. Sony will still want to sell you 4k 60fps remastered version of Spider-an, GoW, Horizon etc.I hope that Ps5 has backwards compatibility and enhance the games.... Would be awesome to replay GOW and Spider-Man 60fps in antecipation for the guaranteed sequels on ps5!
Lol Sony HQ just as many Nintendo and Xbox Fans here, thats the beauty of this place.I'm pretty shocked TBH. Even on Reset Era which is kinda Sony HQ, the hype didn't seem to be as immense as for the normal Playstation exclusive. Personally, it held zero appeal to me as well, it just looked boring. Moreso, Spiderman's time as a movie star seems long passed, it's like 2005 called they want their hip superhero back. Isn't it all about that Marvel Avengers crap nowadays? (I'm not one for superhero movies)
All that and instead it sold like, fantastic. Weird.

Well it was 3.1 million first 3 days and 5 million the first month.I feel bad for tomb raider, because I think a lot of people (including myself) did not buy it because of Spiderman.
Anybody knows the numbers for God of war ?

Exactly.Right. And what third party studio and publisher combo would you have given it to that would have provided the polish that Insomniac and Sony did here? Activison has had the licensing rights for over a decade, and you saw how they treated it. You think EA would have given us a similar product to Spider-Man PS4? There's a reason Marvel went to Sony with the intention that they coordinate on a single player Marvel game.
Insomniac was absolutely the right developer (as they already had the experience of making a high caliber open world game with interesting traversal elements), and Sony was the right publisher due to their expertise when it comes to single player games.
I have no idea to be honest.Nice as well. Which game was more expensive to make ? Any ideas ?

The wild part is IIRC, in some region it sold more on PS4 than XBO.I feel bad for tomb raider, because I think a lot of people (including myself) did not buy it because of Spiderman.

Edit: Was just googling and Spiderman is a Marvel character? Didn't know that. Thought he was from a different universe than all those Avengers things. Also learned DC has more bigger characters than I thought...
Yes. Any game a first party funds, produces and publishes is a first party game, no matter whether they're developed by internal or external studios.so a 3rd party studio can make first party games? i know sony=spiderman but insomniac is not first party right?
also not to dig on these numbers but how does this compare with the other big disney IP game Battlefront? didnt that do 3x the numbers and was considered a disappointment? what am I missing here? or is that normal for AAA multiplatforms to outsell at such high numbers vs exclusives?

I'm guessing you missed the fact that Spider-Man sold this many units in just three days. EA never shared Battlefront's early sales, so there's no comparison between the two. And Battlefront 1 was never a sales disappointment, it sold extremely well, it was a critical disappointment. Battlefront 2 was the one that was a sales disappointment and EA hasn't shared anything related to its sales at this point.
Games that get released get OTs...how does that make this place Sony HQ? Because more people are discussing Sony/Nintendo games?Just dont count pages for official threads LOL
OK maybe Nintendo...
Isn't Marvel like in the game title? How did you not know Spider-Man was a Marvel character? Guess I'm getting old.I'm pretty shocked TBH. This is one mega out of the loop poster in almost every word you typed ha. Welcome to the real world.I'm pretty shocked TBH. Remember when some people were saying it wouldn't beat Arkham Knight 5 million in 4 months
I was just reading that thread, knowing the numbers and laughing

Sony focusing on story-focused single-player games really payed off this gen.
Spidey 2 is happening for sure, but I'd be shocked if there isn't another SIE/Marvel partnership in the future.
Exactly. It's all about The Avengers currently (which is definitely not crap). And Spider-man is a super hero present in the last movie (Avengers: Infinity wars) with plenty of screen-time, he also had a famous line / scene.I'm pretty shocked TBH.
