my eshop wishlist has 140 items

I've made a huge mistake dot gif

WOW. So many solid games this week, and so many I wanted to play already. Risk of Rain looks amazing and I still need to pick up Mario + Rabbids, Steamworld Dig 2, and probably Ikaruga. Good lord. Aegis Defenders looks pretty sweet too and I'm totally into the idea of Wasteland 2. Oof.

Aegis Defenders has a demo.

Is anyone else having left joycon drifting issues with ThunderForce IV? It hasn't happened in other games, or M2's Sonco release today either.

Are there any tips for clearing boards in this game? The vertical it seems to hide enemies, and the massive parallax scrolling in the backgrounds seem a bit overwhelming at times.

A new twin stick shooter will be released this Friday in the US, 'Debris Infinity', priced at $4.99.

Hopefully, it will see a release in Europe soon. I really need a pure good-old neon infused twin stick shooter in Switch.

Looks like Asteroids meets Geometry Wars, which sounds like a lovely marriage. Do these developers have the clout and talent to pull this off?

Seems to have leaderboards too!

Well, I was going to buy Reigns, but I wondered if I wouldn't dig the comedic writing and tone, so this might drain those funds just as well!

The game has leaderboards and your ranking will update as you are playing, so you'll have a general idea of where you'll finish in the ranking before the mode ends. I posted footage on the previous page showing the three game modes: Time Attack (you try to score the highest you can in 3 minutes), Normal (play till you fail), and Power Wave (gain extra time for defeating enemies).

I'd like online leaderboards for Hamster's releases but it'd be more trouble than it's worth, since the output is so consistent thanks to it being pretty much rom dumps bundled with a perfected emulator of theirs.

:O

Errr... well my friend, today's your lucky day then because EVERY ACA/ACA Neo-Geo release indeed has Online Leaderboards!! :D
They're even separated between Caravan mode, High Score mode, Original mode International and Original Mode Japanese, depending on the game.

If you need people to battle it out for fun, chasing each other's scores on Switch's many arcade (retro AND current!) games, you can shoot me a friend request :)

Anyone played light fingers and can it be played single player (and be fun)?

Love the look of this game but there's no reviews and even their company website doesnt explain if you can play single player

Jumping on a plane with a good variety of new Switch games, many of which I haven't played.

Are there any games I absolutely need a guide or at least an internet connection to find something out before I start or shortly after I boot it for the first time?

What games would you be playing? Not many need a guide, unless you are playing something like Hello Neighbor and need some early guidance.

Wow I love battle circuit. I had to buy beat em up bundle just to play that pink ostrich riding character lol. So good.

Nice collection of games though, and highly varied. Seems a good price $20. Feels like going back in time and playing games in arcades.

Man so many games, still loving Risk of Rain too. I hope it doesnt get missed due to the graphics, gameplay I think is better than Hollow Knight personally, though of course it doesnt look nearly as good.

Let's see....

Some of the newer Adventure/narrative driven games with environmental puzzles. 2046, Broken Age, etc.

Darkest Dungeon/Dead Cells/Enter the Gungeon/more difficult and randomly generated rogue-likes.

A lot of the iphone-esque touchpad experiences or arcadey stuff too but I know I won't really need extra info for them - Lumines, Yoku's Island Express, Into the Breach, stuff like that.

Also finally want to sit down and try that second, more polished demo of Octopath. Same for the Valkyria Chronicles 4 demo.

Are we able to party up for the Dark Souls network test or not? I could have sworn I saw gank squads all over the shop during the last network test on the other consoles.

Thanks Nate! I noticed your video on that page. I'll have to watch it and give it a like! :)

That sounds pretty decent actually. Did you have fun with the title? Do you think it's decent for $5?

I would download the iOS app for enter the gungeon. There is a free version and no ad 1.99 version. It works offline. Lot of items and synergies in that game. Great game though!

Oh wow, what's wrong with me, I actually do know about this. I think it's been too long since I last played an ACA release lol, maybe I should get Metal Slug 1... Thanks for the correction tho!

Has anybody checked out The Gardens Between? It looked really intriguing in the trailer in the Nindies Showcase, but I have no idea how it actually plays.

All the Joycon sticks in the release units will inevitably die at some point.

It's not the game.

If you observe the Joycon, there is a small plastic behind the stick, that you can move.

Because of this design, the stick tends to accumulate dust with an extended use.

If you go to the test screen of the stick in the OS menu, you will see that when you push the directions, the cross will not stay fixed in one point, but it will make small movements.

This implies that your stick is fucked off.

ALL the Joycons will suffer this problem after approximately 200 hours of use.

There is a small tip for fixing this, that is to lift up the small plastic with a pin or a wire.

And then, to use compressed air to blow the dust.

There is also people documenting the use of alcohol with cotton to clean the inside part of the stick, and you can see videos in Youtube doing this: DON'T DO THIS.

At the end, after various cleans, your left stick will be completely loose.

Mine, is currently broken, after being forced to send this to Nintendo for a replacement the last year, but it doesn't matter, after one year, it's broken again. This time, I'm waiting for a stick replacement that I have bought in Amazon. I found two sticks for €8 euros, this week should arrive to my house.

Oh man, thanks so much for the thorough explanation Epilexia! I'm going to have to do some problem solving tomorrow and check this out more, after I get my newly chipped windshield taken care of.

My Pro Controller at home, definitely isn't drifting in the game.

So are you going to pick up Debris Infinity tomorrow? Not quite the best title, but the game looks solid, and right up your alley for sure, as you mentioned!

For some reason The End is Nigh wasn't showing up on sale in the US eshop. Seems all of Nicalis' older releases are at least half off. I'd just thought the other day how I'd like this on sale again digitally, as I have the hard copy already, and $5 is an INSANE deal for The End is Nigh!!!

It shows up for release on the 25th in my eShop.

I looked at this game yesterday and it immediately triggered memories of Geometry Wars. I loved that first game on XBLA. Pure fun and incredibly addictive.

Not the best week to achieve it. So many good games, Velocity 2X included.

Undertale
Capcom Beat 'Em Up Bundle
Speed Brawl
The Gardens Between
Light Fingers
Reigns: Kings & Queens
Risk of Rain
Sega Ages
Nintendo Switch Online: Nesflix

Probably one of the best eShops week.

And prepare your wallet or run because October, November or December can be absolutely destroyer.

Exactly what I though when I read that. I think it has become pretty much impossible for games to make a splash on Switch when they didn't on other platforms. They might sell a bit more, but the titles that do best are almost all known quantities that already sold a lot on other platforms or games that created a lot of buzz before release for whatever reason.

Just look at the eShop right now and you won't find a single surprise in the top 30. (well... one. People, why are you buying that Senran Kagura game?!)

I think that 'Debris Infinity' is only confirmed for the US eShop, it seems that in Europe can come at least two weeks later because of the age rating certificates.

But sure, count me inn once it's released.

I like to support small developers still trying to do niche arcade games inspired in a British/Llamasoft/Jeff Minter/Commodore 64/Rob "Retroremakes" Fearon tradition.

Outside of 'Don't Die Mr. Robot DX' and 'Graceful Explosion Machine', there are not so many games showing this exact sensibility and approach in their design.

And 'The End is Nigh' is not only my favorite contemporary platformer, it's the only contemporary game that can enter in the same list of 'Super Mario Bros', 'Ganbare Goemon 2', 'Another World' and 'Sonic the Hedgehog' as one of my all-time favorite platformers. I played this in December, and still resonates in my mind, and its soundtrack bring back a lot of unforgettable memories.

My favorite Edmund McMillen game, and I consider Edmun in the same pedestal as Shigeru Miyamoto, so this is to say a lot of how damn good is 'The End is Nigh'.

You might need hints to get the last remaining stuff in Yoku's Island Express, but that's only if you want to 100%.

A puzzle game that IMO might require online hints at some points is Goetia.

I've had a drifting stick on my left joycon for a couple months now. I've never sent in anything for Nintendo to repair so I don't know what the charge is. I've been thinking about just buying a new joycon. Is it cheaper to send in for a repair? I put off doing this for months because I don't want to go without it for however long it takes.

Speaking of huge eshop wishlists, has anybody ever hit a limit on how many games you can have on there? I wishlist pretty much anything that looks remotely interesting because I know I'll probably never find it again unless it's on sale (which is just as well)

Just look at the eShop right now and you won't find a single surprise in the top 30. (well... one. People, why are you buying that Senran Kagura game?!)

I'll buy any SK product released on switch

Played a bit of My Brother Rabbit, one of three adventure games that released at the end of this week. Had some trouble with the game freezing up for a second when I interacted with items, but a reboot of the console seems to have solved that.

The visuals and sounds are really different from the other two Artifex Mundi games (Enigmatis 2 and Nightmares from the Deep 2) that I've played on Switch. It's all very dreamlike. Each screen has a lot of tiny details as well.

I can't really speak for the quality of the puzzles and gameplay yet. Enigmatis and Nightmares from the Deep 2 were extremely similar in that regard, so I hope that this game manages to diverge enough from that formula.

I've just noticed that a bunch of Nicalis games are on sale, I don't even know where to begin.

I'm set on gettting Knights Terrors since Epilexia recommended it to me a while back, on top of that I'll grab Ikaruga Ittle Dew 2 and MAYBE Tiny Barbarian DX. Does anyone know if you're able to play TBDX with the directional buttons instead of the joystick?

If I hadn't just blown my budget on retro games and Wasteland 2, there's a load of stuff I'd be grabbing on sale about now. :(

Out of nowhere, decent deals (in NA at least) on Isaac, Ikaruga and The End is Nigh.

Damn, 'The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+' at $19.99 is a steal. I have spent something like 200 hours with this game this generation, through the different versions of Rebirth. It's pure roguelite perfection, and the most advanced 2D game ever created. Its engine is a technical achievement. While it may look simple in the screenshots, I have never seen so many light effects, particles, advanced 2D shaders and hundreds of sprites in the screen, running so smoothly as in this game. I'm still surprised that they were able of fixing the framerate to 60FPS in the last patch, it doesn't matter the crazy weapons that you are using or the overload of sprites. The framerate in some sections is able to put my powerful Mac desktop in slow motion, but in Switch still runs smoothly.

And 'Knight Terrors' is together with 'Ninja Showdown' and 'Don't Die Mr. Robot DX' my favorite score-chaser in Switch.

Not to talk of 'Ikaruga', in the nice price point to double dip, having the exact same version in Steam, that runs perfectly fine in TATE mode in my GPD Win.

And 'Tiny Barbarian DX' at $9.99, I have been waiting for this sale for a lot of time, it's the only game of Nicalis that I still don't have in Steam or in Switch. And Nicalis still needs to release a bad 2D game, they have a fine tuned radar for these type of platformers.

It seems that the good sales, like 'The Way: Remastered' at $2.99, are skipping the European eshop in the last weeks.

You lucky Americans!

I had the drifting issue with my left joy-con. Cleaning it fixed it for a while but the problem always came back. I thought of stripping it down but in the end I thought fuck it and imported the red Mario ones. Expensive but I love them.

Glad I waited on Ikaruga. Just bought.

Also decided to get Broforce before that discount goes away. It plays smoothly compared to my memories of the PS4 version(not sure if it ever got patched). Stupid fun for $13.

Debating Cave Story again at $15...I have the 3DS version so I don't really need it...

OK few questions time!

It's time to get a new mSD card. Suggestions/links/deals?

With a new mSD, how does that work? I have a bunch of games already installed on one. Do I just turn the system off and swap them to play games on another mSD? And if I have games installed on one card but want it on another card (a card for NEOGEO games for example), can I just uninstall and reinstall on a new card, or is there some weird license shit I have to deal with?

Also, I did some of my own research and can't really get a read on Victor Vran. I've started trusting "major" Nintendo review sites less after their Cities Skylines stuff. So I would love to know a) if anyone here has an opinion on VV and b) what sites you all use to read reviews and get impressions on games.

Not sure on the SD card question, but mine is running low as well and I'm not sure if it's more convenient to clean the fridge or buy a second to swap myself.

I really liked what I played of Victor Vran on Steam. It's a story driven action game with some Diablo trappings. You do get loot and it has skill trees to work through in an overhead perspective, but there is a greater emphasis on the action. Diablo always felt too passive too me, like you are mostly setting up your abilities and playing a clicker watching the fireworks unfold with cooldowns. Vran has you jumping and dodging and being a bit more focused on the core combat and navigating the environment. It's not DMC, but it felt slightly more involved than Diablo. Just enough to make me feel a bit more in control rather than pointing and killing like Diablo if that makes sense.

It also is more story driven rather than a pure gauntlet. Lots of banter with a humorous slant in the writing. I never played too far though so unsure how the whole game turned out, but I liked the few hours I did see. Taken for what it is.

I also see The binding od Isaac on sale at 25 CAD insted of 50
good port ?

I don't know if the Steam version was finally patched including the Switch additions and rebalanced modes, but it's not only a superb port running at a rock solid 60 FPS, I consider this version the best entry point in the series. Because when you start playing with a new save file, it will return to an almost vanilla 'The Binding of Isaac Rebirth', instead of throwing in the face of a beginner all the extra hard enemies and dungeons of the Afterbirth+ expansion that was intended for expert players looking for a challenge.

I love how every single new enemy, challenge or extra dungeon, needs to be unlocked through successive runs.

But at the same time, how it offers a lot of the extra rooms and items of the added expansions.

In Steam, at least the last year, once you purchased all the expansions, you was fucked off: all the extra hard elements will appear without any logic in your first run in a save file. It has no sense to see in your first run in the game, an extra-hard layout of a dungeon, than in previous versions was unlocked once you have mastered the basic concepts of the game.

Thanks to this new balance in the Switch version, 'The Binding of Isaac: Afterbith+' regained its throne as the best roguelite ever made.

How similar does it feel to geometry wars? That game controlled like a dream

Looks and controls the same at a basic level, but there's more strategy involved with the slow time and bomb. Also has a lot of new elements like asteroids.

Immediately had that geometry wars feel yeah. Fact is $5 is surprising, it has impressed me production value wise more than GM. If this was GM I would expect a $10 or $15 price.

For a GM fan its a no brainer at this price. Pretty low risk given price isnt high.
