I'm still with Chael on this one. They probably announce the Bones fight at MSG during UFC 229. It literally makes no sense to still have an empty main event otherwise.

Far as I'm aware that's a standard contract they like to get people to do, so if they retire after like only 3 or 4 unless they really just want to be done with you, you're screwed in terms of easily transitioning to Bellator and just being done with the company

Anderson Silva's most recent contract, and CM Punk's only (let's be honest, only) contract, were both that same length IIRC. It being Conor, it's just obviously more money, but with 0 title defenses because he doesn't fooking defend belts

It's a shock because I expected Conor to have at most 2 fights (Khabib then Diaz).

What you sign to isn't what you necessarily do, like I've said

Punk ain't having 6 more fights in the UFC, but if they feel he has enough value they don't want to risk Bellator having him, he won't be fighting there without doing it. Doesn't really seem like a difficult concept

Conor is dictating the terms more than a guy like Punk though.

I think what pisses me off most about that deal is that the fighters lost a lot of money with the Reebok deal eliminating their ability to display sponsors on their gear, and now they're going to give Conor ring branding for his shitty whiskey. Probably promo spots too.

Dana said it's up to Jones if he wants to fight DC at Heavyweight or Light Heavyweight.

This fucking guy.

I wonder what the plan is for Jones' first fight back. There's no way DC is giving up the Brock fight, so that leaves Gus at LHW or someone (maybe Stipe or Rumble) at HW.

Just bump Diaz/Poirier up to a 5-rounder for Christ's sakes.

Wow, just saw Lovato Jr's RNC in Bellator. That was some high level shit. I'm a purple belt in BJJ and I've never seen a RNC like that before. He protected his arm behind his opponent's head by actually putting his chin over that arm to prevent it from being stripped. In BJJ class his RNC would something you'd be taught NOT to do because you're exposing your face to strikes. Lovato's MMA BJJ is on another level. Too bad he's older and not as athletic to really make waves.

Man, Hector Lombard relegated to the fight pass prelims on a card headlined by two people I've never heard of.

Sam Alvey vs Little Nog is the least appealing fight I can think of outside of Sam Alvey vs Gian Villante

Had to look both of them up. Magomedov hasn't fought since 2015 as he got popped in 2016 and was suspended for two years. de Lima hasn't fought since April of last year after he got popped. But this year he was cleared and USADA said he'd taken a tainted supplement. Magomedov is 3-0 in the UFC with every win coming by decision and de Lima is 4-3 in the UFC with his wins coming by sub or T/KO.

They can't seriously be thinking of headlining 230 with a pair of no-names, can they?

Fuck.
