The original show is in the pantheon of one of the most well-written shows ever.

Glad to see this coming back (again)!

Jordan Peele's voice is perfect for this wow.

Extremely excited, he's already put his stamp on the horror genre on the silver screen and now he's here to do it on the small screen.

The original was about social issues. I can think of a few things a reboot can tackle.
It's easy- less men with prosthetic eyebrows in flying saucers, more of The Shelter or The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street.
The show's tropes will just seem kinda weird and dated, I mean. Like, are they going to have Jordan Peele stand in a three-piece suit and introduce every story?

Some part of the problem with the Twilight Zone formula is that when people expect narrative twists, it becomes really easy to see them coming. Which makes it harder to deliver twists that are narratively satisfying and surprising, but not out-of-leftfield bullshit.

I am curious if they will stick with the 25-30min format that TWZ used for most of its life as well. In this day and age it's almost expected that any TV program meant to be taken seriously will be an hour long.

And they can't bring it to CBS why?

I'm sure Magnum PI needed the time slot.
Other than Colbert, there's not really anything for me on CBS.

I'm not sure if they're putting this on All Access because it's not expected to have wide mass market appeal (fewer eyes for traditional TV ads) or because they expect it's going to be a significant draw for new subscribers.

Ok, I'm intrigued. I hope they maintain a strong moral voice as in the original, while making the cast/crew a bit less...melanin-deprived.

It is not always about twists. Black Mirror was basically Twilight Zone with technology. Broader its scope and you are there.

TWZ is more than just twists and subversions.

Please please please please be good! B&W > color all day.

i am fucking in

my favorite Twilight Zone episode is "The Shelter", doesn't even have anything peculiar or otherworldy in it, just a straight up de-masking of humanity
Well that's an incredible episode. "Monsters on Maple Street" always gets me too.

It's amazing how great Twilight Zone was and that television peaked so hard over 50 years ago

Hell yes, but really hope there are other ways of watching it without having to subscribe to CBS All Access - already dealing with enough streaming services.

Can not wait for this. Wonder how it's gonna air in Canada. I guess we have CBSAA here too now?

What's really nuts is that a Era poster/lurker writes for this show.
Hi, I'm Heather.
I wrote a few episodes of the new Twilight Zone, or what we affectionately call, "Season 6."

Cool, congrats! It must be amazing to be attached to such a beloved franchise with such talented people. Hoping the best for you and this revival.

Oh nice, on a streaming service not available in 99% of the world.
They even block the teaser on youtube.

As much as I love the Twilight Zone, and trust me I love it, I don't see myself subbing to CBS to watch it. Just put it tv or Hulu ya jackasses.

I am more excited about this show than anything upcoming or new that I've seen in years. And yet, I'm not paying for a single channel streaming service. Don't know what I'll do. Maybe I can buy it on Amazon or something. Maybe I'll get one month of CBS all access and finally binge the hell out of it and ST:D

I love Twilight Zone but I'm skeptical of how many reboots it's had. They've been progressively hit and miss.

The best TV series of all time full fucking stop!

I'm in day 1 just for the intro teaser alone!

As long as you guys don't try to toss in comedy that isn't needed and maintain the harsh yet neutral tone of the original you'll be fine.

What do you mean by neutral? We're already done writing the show, but I'm curious about this. I found the original show fairly provocative and progressive. Episodes like I Am The Night - Color Me Black took on social issues, and the recurring anti-nuclear themes of the show can be read either as paranoia or as messages against the military-industrial complex.

So as you know, Serling would always paint the picture of the themes and concern that the episode would deal with. However the presentation always presented everything as factual (for the most part) and not really pushing the narrative within the episode itself. The monologues painted the tone or pushed the message but the actual characters all acted with a sincerity that made it seem like you were just observing everyone in their natural state that would make sense in the high concept situation. That's what made the show land so much for me.
