there's an app called Thermo Watch for Nest that allows modifications of Nest Thermostat settings for iOS, watch os and tv os.
The app just got an update with Siri Shortcut functionality:

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/thermo-watch-for-nest-thermostat/id1086717755?mt=8

"Using Siri voice shortcuts you can now control many aspects of your Nest, such as instant activation of heating or cooling, direct setting of your favorite temperatures, increasing/decreasing the temperature, and setting the Home/Away state. Thanks to Thermo Watch, it's all finally just one casual "Hey Siri" away, all with quick and informative visual and verbal feedback."

Isn't that made by someone here?

Maybe someone can help me?

Could someone make a shortcut that copies the most recent post (image or video) from a twitter account and then uploads that to imgur and saves a copy of the link to your clipboard?

I would like to upload a Switch screenshot to twitter and then click a shortcut that automatically uploads it and copies it to my clipboard. I guess I could copy it to my phone and then use the current imgur shortcut but that is more work.
I think this would be possible via interacting with the Twitter API I don't think it'd be too difficult to do but I wouldn't know how to go about doing it.
I might look into it today if I get time

Apologies for quite a long post, I was hoping someone with more experience than might be able to help...
I've been having a play with shortcuts to help me do things while driving, but it seems that everything requires me to unlock the phone to continue the action, which makes it kinda... pointless? The whole point for me is I want to not have to touch my phone (because it's illegal).

The one I've been working on at the moment is to launch an Amazon Music playlist, because normally when I get in the car and the phone connects to my bluetooth (it's a bluetooth FM transmitter, old car so no on board bluetooth) I can just hit play on the transmitter and it resumes playing my last playlist, but randomly the iPhone decides it's going to use Apple Music instead (where I have no music). So I want to be able to restart my Amazon playlist.

As far as I know, there's no Shortcuts support for Amazon Music, so I managed to grab playlist share links off Amazon and add them into a menu in Shortcuts so I can select the playlist, which then passes that URL to Safari, which then opens the app on the desired playlist's page. The problems I'm having are:

1) I can't get it to autoplay. I've searched online and found other people had the same issues. Someone suggested adding "?do=play" to the end of the link, someone else suggested "?ref=play" and other people said they couldn't get playlists to autoplay at all, but could get individual songs to autoplay.
2) If the phone is locked when I use the shortcut, when I then unlock the phone it asks me to open the link in the app store, rather than just opening the app like it does if the phone is unlocked already.

Also, I know the menu I added kinda goes against not wanting to touch the phone - I was kinda hoping that I would be able to use voice in the menu too, but I have no idea if that's possible, and I also just wanted to see if I could make a working menu for it.

Sucks that the Friends actions don't pass through the location.
Wanted to do a "How long will it take X to come home?" shortcut but it just puts me in the app. Boooo

Does this work via the watch without having to say 'hey siri' or not useful as most require the phone to be unlocked?

I made a newer version of the Imgur upload shortcut here: https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/23094d49924041d9a6123cee84077761

This makes it so if you just run the shortcut without having an image there, you can pick them from your photo album. I also went through and got all of Imgur's supported file extensions: it only attempts to convert different ones (it looks like the converting bug is from jpg to png, so this avoids that). Then, it just provides a message instead of opening the url afterward. Should be covering all the bases here in terms of uploading, but let me know otherwise.

Would it be possible to have an option to trim the video before uploading, and/or shrinking it my iPhone vids are 4K which is obv overkill for gifs. Trimming and converting to eg 480p would be great. Could be a separate shortcut

That comes down to Amazon's implementation of Siri Shortcuts from what I can tell. I don't imagine it'd be the most difficult thing for them to develop but it wouldn't surprise me if either they couldn't do it because Apple disallows it (to push Apple Music perhaps, idk) or Amazon wouldn't do it because they have their own voice assistant, Alexa.

So you want to grab a contacts location from the Find Friends app and have it calculate the time it'll take them to get to a specified address?
I don't think it would be possible as the Find Friends app simply grabs their location, it doesn't know how fast they're going, their method of transportation or if they're even travelling at all.

Does this work via the watch without having to say 'hey siri' or not useful as most require the phone to be unlocked?
I don't see why it wouldn't work since Siri on the watch queries Siri on the connected iPhone. Also if your watch supports it, you wouldn't need to say "Hey Siri". I don't know if it's a Series 4 exclusive feature or a WatchOS 5 feature. I can't test right now as my Gen 0 watch is EoL and doesn't have WatchOS 5.. but my Series 4 is arriving tomorrow (hype!) so I'll be able to test it then at least.

An average just like Maps gives for routing would be sufficient for my use case. And for the rest, I'll just assume based on what I know :p

OK experimenting myself with the resize/trim. I guess when that works you could call it by editing the original shortcut.

Apologies if this has been asked before. Is it possible to schedule shortcuts? Meaning I want a shortcut to run every day (or week) at a certain time.

Does IFTTT no longer have Workflow/Shoetcuts access?

You could definitely make a scheduled trigger to run a specific shortcut if so.
So you'd schedule something with IFTTT which would activate a workflow action? Pretty sure you can't do that with shortcuts - everything has to be manually initiated using widgets, Siri or share sheet.

Is there a running list of Apps that support Siri shortcuts natively? I know in some cases you need to make the Shortcut manually (like Bear), but Carrot & Citymapper support it natively

That's a shame. You could before.

Good call!

Here's a version where you're prompted to size the output at the start: https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/c0c8520be8734d0faec0096b83c4703b

Note: the built-in resizer seems super buggy right now and crashes the shortcut for gifs of decent size. Resizing videos isn't an option, so I have to make a very high quality gif first, then resize it, and that seems to be what makes it buggy. Regardless, I could get ~25 second gifs to upload properly if I made the resolution sufficiently low enough.

Other than that, though, it seems to work very nicely for pictures. I still have the old version up for download in my earlier posts if you don't want the resize prompt on each use, but this one makes the video to gif function actually *somewhat* useable.

As someone who has been looking at Smart Thermostats recently, doesn't EcoBee's model offer homekit support and thus doesn't require a shortcut setup? You could just tell Siri to change the temperature and it's all integrated?

So I've been reading this thread and the shortcuts sounds really cool but I'm still on iOS 11. I'm still rocking an iPhone 7 is iOS 12 supposed to run decently on a 7? I usually avoid upgrading the iOS too much for older phones but I'm tempted here

Nice. Thanks for updating.

When I was having a play it did seem I could transcode a 4k video to 640x480. Still very high res as a source for a gif but more manageable than 4K.

That field states 640 width by default, but you can change it to whatever you'd like. It also only displays 5 frames per second, but you'd have to change that in the shortcut itself.

Is it possible to, say, have IFTTT play a playlist on Spotify? Basically, I can't use Siri to trigger Spotify in the car natively, but I'd love if I could have it bring up a playlist of music? Something like "Hey Siri run Spotify playlist"

I was looking through the IFTTT list and mostly it seemed about playlist management.

My 6s+ honestly runs like a new phone. They worked some serious magic this update.

As a family (mutual consent!) we use the Find Phone app to see where we all are, is there a way to hook into that and create a shortcut for a specific device?

Upload to imgur is pretty great. Combined with youtube downloader it's really easy to post gif clips from videos.

Try this shortcut (credit to kstrike155): https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/2c69791fc00d4722b9bd47fc0f90d61b

1) You need to input your Client ID and Client Secret in the first two text fields. You can generate one here quickly and easily: https://developer.spotify.com/dashboard/applications

2) Give the shortcut a custom Siri phrase, I used just "Spotify." Then you invoke Siri and say "Spotify," it will run the shortcut which immediately starts dictation. Then you just speak a command in this type of format:

Play playlist RapCaviar
Play artist The Killers
Play album Hot Fuss
Play track Mr. Brightside

(*Voice Search tip: you'll have more reliable results if you include the artist name after the album name. For example if you just say "Play album Graduation" it will likely bring you to the 6IX9INE album Graduation Day cause it's the newer/currently more popular one, but if you say something like "Play album Graduation Kanye West" it'll bring you to the correct one. Don't include the word "by" either.)

There's two main limitations:
1) The first one is a Shortcuts limitation, your phone needs to be unlocked to execute shortcuts. If you have FaceID it's just a quick glance at it to unlock.
2) The second one is a Spotify limitation - only tracks can autoplay. For albums/artists/playlists you will need to press the play button yourself.

So basically you can do everything entirely hands free except for the actual play button. Not entirely perfect, but it's pretty darn impressive and probably the best that's currently possible until Spotify adds official support for this type of thing.

Trying to make a battery shortcut so I can ask my HomePod the battery level of a device, but my HomePod will only ever tell me my iPhone battery level and not my iPad Pro. Any ideas?

Apple cutting off IFTTT support is a bummer - hopefully they're at least planning to duplicate that framework's functionality within the next year.

Create the battery shortcut on the iPad Pro and then sync it with the homepod? I don't know how Shortcuts work with the homepod, sorry.
The thing is Shortcuts sync over icloud so I end up with the same Shortcut on each device and HomePod just allows you to run Shortcuts like you would on your phone, you say 'Hey Siri' then the shortcut activation phrase that you assigned to that shortcut.

Give me Logitech support and I can dump Alexa.

BTW, you can use IFTTT applets with some tweaking and the use of webhooks.
This will allow you to control all sorts of things that Shortcuts cannot just yet, like maybe your Sonos system as shown in one of the following links.

https://www.macstories.net/ios/how-to-trigger-ifttt-applets-with-ios-12s-new-shortcuts-app-and-siri/

The basic idea behind this is to use IFTTT's Webhooks as triggers for an applet. IFTTT describes webhooks as best suited for DIY projects or companies that want to get started integrating their platform with IFTTT. In practice, a webhook is a unique URL that accepts a request. Once the URL is "pinged", IFTTT recognizes it as a trigger and runs the applet. In the slightly more advanced version, the webhook can also receive request data, and therefore identify variables (IFTTT calls them "ingredients") in your request.

Another example:

The upload to imgur shortcut isn't working for me at all. Pasting to ERA just gives me a white box outline with no image.

EDIT: Guess I didn't check the Direct Link option.

Tried doing some research before posting (I'm super new to shortcuts/workflow):

I've created a script for my mornings but can't find a "check for new episodes" method for the default podcast app. Any ideas?

Also, this one seems much more complicated but I need to navigate to a URL, pass through variables (login, password) and have it navigate to another page on the site. Anyone have examples I can work from or any ideas?

Is there a MacOS app? I'm having the hardest fuckin time reading on an iPhone 7

Okay I think I'm having trouble with the imgur shortcut. When I copy the direct link it just shows this
TYeYYLx.png

It seems like it's converting it to a png instead of staying as a gif. Am I doing this wrong? It's just a gif I copied off of Google. Or is This shortcut only really meant for your own video etc?
