Totally different style of game, but you could consider Guacamelee Super Turbo Championship Edition. Very fun platformer, amazing style and wonderful combat too.

Every time people go on about how improved Knack 2 is over the original I shiver, considering I only played the second game's demo and found it the blandest thing imaginable.
It's like when people tell me the first Michael Bay Transformers movie (the only one I've seen) is "the decent one". I can't begin to imagine how the others must be! :S

Not heard of God of War before this year? The old ones were basically just like Knack.
I think Knack 2 is decent. It overstays its welcome and the writing is horrible, albeit probably because the target demographic are kids. But yeah, it has that late 90's / early '00's vibe. It's fun like that.

I totally hear ya gameplay wise, I just meant that I'd say the tones of the two series are a bit different :p
Knack 2 is fine, I wish the combat was a little bit better than it was as the dodges never quite feel right. The Stun Boomerang move helps out a lot. The transformations feel underused. I like searching for the hidden collectibles in it, they are hidden fairly well in the stages.
I had more fun with it than what a game that came out last year that some people claim is the best game of all time. I don't know how people have fun with that Rock Climbing Simulator (And I'm not talking about Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy)

& that right there is my #1 problem with knack. as soulless a game experience as i've ever had. that it's targeted at kids makes it all super-depressing :) ...
