Yeah, if it's just you and your wife, you probably don't need a diner plan. Just be careful! Food is expensive, esp sit down restaurants.... Went there for 5 days in May and paid $1000 in food... We mainly did sit down, which was a major mistake money wise. Food wise, it was delicious and we enjoyed every bit of it. I'd recommend you do more fast service. The main culprit was breakfast at our hotel (Contemporary). We really should have brought cereal and milk and did that for most of the breakfasts....

That being said:

The Italian Restaurant (Tony's?) at the entrance of Magic Kingdom is awesome. So is the Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd. Skipper Canteen by the Jungle Cruise.

You forgot the new ride at Toy Story Land. Which will def need a fast pass for. Don't get a fastpass for Star Tours. Not worth it IMO and usually has small wait anyways.

Hollywood Studios def starting to become more of a full day park. Almost. Once Star Wars land opens, I'm sure it will be.
LOL everyone says Tony's is terrible. Different strokes I guess.

Okay i might need some help with strat what days to go where. I want to do a universal day for sure out of the 7 we will be there and ill drop 700 on the good tickets. Also we are going because of my wife's medical conference but she only has to go three days 26-28 and its 8am-12pm.

First day we arrive around 10 and magic kingdom stays open till 12 am that day so i was kinda thinking that we would go there first. I might look into park hoppers since our tickets are reduced to 60 something a piece thanks to the conference prices.
Show us your fastpass selections so we can laugh at them and then make suggestions.

I'm excited about going at Halloween since it's one of my favorite holidays. I have fond memories watching disney's Headless horseman cartoon during Halloween time. Remember they used to have scary Disney stuff being narrated by the magic mirror from Snow White.
GET TICKETS TO THE HALLOWEEN PARTY. The Headless Horseman comes out at the front of the parade.

We ended up going twice, with the menu actually changing on 2nd time. We certainly loved it and will recommend it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Speaking of which.. The Nine Dragons Restaurant at Epcot is one I'd recommend staying away from. It wasn't bad, but certainly wasn't anything special. Given it's price and everything, you'd probably be better off going to a Chinese restaurant in Orlando for fraction of the cost. I do remember liking the Chinese restaurant at Animal Kingdom though.

But my general philosophy is to avoid long standby waits - I'm on vacay!!
I'm the same. We only got a fast pass for the Pandora River Adventure ride and not the flying one. With it being a 2 hour wait, we skipped it.

If you get the Express Pass (or the Unlimited version), you could def do it in just 1 day if you try to rush all the rides. With that pass, you can skip all the lines, making it easily doable. 2 Days would be better to actually slow down and enjoy everything though. But you can def do it in 1, esp if you try to get a gauge of what rides you want to do. MAKE SURE TO GET the park hopper there.

Will you do the Universal Horror Night? (separate ticket)

Agreed.

I'm going for 4 nights to Universal around the same time though lol. First trip there in over 25 years and don't want to rush. Doing 2 nights of HHN, one with a public RIP Tour and one with Express. I really hope I like it. Staying at Royal Pacific and got express passes and a nice discount for Annual Passholders (same price as or cheaper than a 5 day ticket lmao).

Ooooh, that is nice! I only recently learned that the top 3 premier hotels there gave out Express Pass Unlimited. Wish I knew that earlier. We've stayed at the Cabana Bay last 2 times, we loved that hotel. Esp for the Lazy River (where we would stay in it for like an hour each day to relax. Def helped tons after long walk at park before heading back) and the Cafeteria food court. Our 1st time there we did 4 days 2 years back and 2 & half last Nov for part of our honeymoon. We are def getting annual passes next time we go (Hopefully March). Will likely now go for the higher price hotels with that free Universal Express Pass during busy seasons and Cabana Bay for less busy.

I mean most days you don't need Express. If OP wanted to save money he could do Universal in 2 days and not get Express as it's not a super busy time. And all of the Uni hotels are very nice. Even the cheap ones are at least a moderate on the Disney scale at value prices.

But I picked Royal Pacific for a number of reasons: 1. You can easily walk to the parks, or take a water taxi, your pick. With the cheaper ones it's a bus ride and you have to go through the parking lot security, which is a lot slower. For Sapphire Falls, they have the water taxi, but reports are it's gotten a lot more crowded with the opening of Aventura (which is right across the street from SF). People are bumming off the SF water taxi even though they aren't staying there, creating huge lines. 2. Only $70 more than Sapphire Falls or $85 more than Cabana Bay/Aventura per night with annual pass discount. 3. Don't have to wring my hands over getting an Express Pass for the trip or not. I know if I didn't have the included Express I'd be a tightwad about it. I want to make sure I relax on this trip. Time > money for me.

Okay so I'm def getting park hopper, didn't realize that we will be so close to Epcot. That makes me extremely excited. Also didn't realize the Halloween party is basically still the open park with Halloween theme and parades and candy, that's also awesome and will prob hang at the pool first half of the day then head there.

Also it's just wife and I, no kids "we don't have any yet". So it's actually still pretty good selection of restaurants available since it's only two eating.

Now the only thing I haven't decided is whether to do one or two days at universal. Wife likes Harry Potter and I'm reading all the books before we head off. Have the movies so I can watch them after each book.

I should post a pic of my notes I've scribbled down lol. Basically took a little bit of everyone's comments and put them in a Disney section on my notability app.

I can't wait to post some pics of the trip when I get back

Just remember, the Halloween Party is a separate ticket and you don't need an additional park ticket for that day...
The Halloween Party (Mickey's Not So Scary) is a pretty cheap ticket compared to the normal tickets...
My wife and I are going to Mickey's Not So Scary next Friday, only $74 and you can get in the park starting at 4pm...

I have some additional tips specific to the Halloween party on the first page if you missed them...

Due to a crazy deal we are staying at the yacht club so we will be on site, also prob going to spend a day at universal. We are starting to watch our favorite animated movies right now to pump ourselves up.

Any advice from era Disney pros would be much appreciated.

Pop Century is such a good deal considering most of the upgraded options have the same basic room as at Pop Century for way more money...

Stayed at the Port of Orleans themed hotel once. Wasn't worth it... Pop Century for life.

(I would love to stay at The Contemporary just once)

I know people like to joke about Epcot but I really enjoyed it and if you haven't reserved a dinner spot for at least a couple nights in the different international restaurants.

Also plan out fast passes well.

If you can reserve a spot for the fireworks at Hollywood studios do so. They roped off a perfect viewing spot and had unlimited desserts available and when I went it was Star Wars themed and had some cool themed desserts

Don't rush yourself around the park(s) too quick. I know my perspective is probably different since I live about 90 minutes from the parks, but I see people trying to cram so much into their trips that they don't stop to smell the roses. Enjoy the atmosphere, eat at a restaurant in the park, watch some shows, etc.

OP will be there during Food and Wine Fest though...all the good food will be in booths outside...no reservations required.

Looking at the predicted wait times for universal, seems like October weekdays are pretty weak crowd wise. Might just not get express passes and save some money

I did Universal with a Park Hopper 2 years ago, July 4th weekend. We almost bought the express pass, but I'm glad we didn't. By about 7pm the park was almost empty. We were jumping back on rides with next to no line.

Rode the Hulk roller coaster 3 times in a row without so much as a stop in line ...

The Harry Potter rides are another story. Those always had a line.

If you don't mind possibly missing some minor stuff, then don't get them. You should easily be able to get through all of Harry Potter and most if not all of the major rides if you get there before park open.

It seems weekday lines are 30 min tops in October, does this seem right. Most universal help sites are saying it's not worth it because October weekday is top three time to visit and lines are very small.

People joke about EPCOT but World Showcase is peak Disney World.

World of Tomorrow is pretty sad these days tho. At least investment seems to be coming

Keep checking for a Avatar Flight of Passage fastpass, I got lucky the last two times I was there and got ones for parties 4+ a week or so before.

If you're going to be there on a Sunday, see if you can get a res for brunch at the California Grill at the Contemporary. Especially if you like Bloody Marys.

The Polynesian is my favorite of all the hotels food and drink wise, Tambu lounge is closed for refurbishment, but you can get yourself a Lapu Lapu elsewhere there. Also the Trader Sam's patio has Spiky Pineapple, which is a Dole Whip with rum. They'll make it extra spiky (a 151 floater) for an extra couple bucks.

Tonga Toast!!!

CA Grill is also a killer dinner spot if you time it with Magic Kingdom's fireworks. Very fun.

The blowout dinner is of course V&A's at the Grand Floridian - highly recommended but super spendy.

Yeah, like others have said. Weekdays during October at Universal should have short lines. I def noticed that last time we were there. Keep in mind that Universal Orlando Studios (not Adventures) does have shorter times due to Halloween Horror Nights. Even shorter lines if you use single rider line for some rides.

I've been looking at the wait times at Uni lately and feel like I've made a big mistake splurging for Royal Pacific. We're talking 5 minutes for Forbidden Journey, 10 minutes for Kong midday. Even Minions at 20-30 minutes.

But I know that the proximity is gonna be huge for me, especially getting back to the hotel after HHN, so I need to just nip that feeling in the bud.

Make sure you catch the Muppet's American history shows in Liberty Square at Magic Kingdom. They are a delight and happen in the open so there's no line!

^^^ It's pretty hilarious too. It happens pretty often I think, and you can see it/hear it from little ways away. I probably watched it 2 or 3 times at different points while just waiting here or there.

Speaking of which, if you like the Muppets at all, I recommend the 3D Muppets show at Hollywood Studios. It's pretty funny and entertaining.

Depending on which Disney World you're going to, watch for pickpockets. Don't put anything in your back pockets.

Yes, this. It's awesome. Check out the show times online or in the times guide.

Oh sorry, I confused Disneyworld with Disneyland. Didn't know they were two different things until now.
Yeah, he's going to Disney World. Never heard of any issues there. We went to Disneyland last year (actually exactly one year ago we where there!) and didn't have any issues either. But we didn't keep anything in our back pockets.

Never heard of issues at Disneyworld either. We kept all of our valuables (Credit Cards, Wallets, Money and the likes) in our Safe and just did any charge to our Magic Band. I believe we may have brought our IDs just in case, but kept it secure in our backpack in hard to reach section. It felt really nice needing to bring any of that.

Always refresh the FP+ page. You will find so many good day of Fast Passes it's not funny.

During our last trip a couple weeks ago I kept pulling Flight of Passage fast passes just by refreshing the page for 2-4 minutes.

Be in walking shape! You gotta hustle, no time to be wasting!

Get there early and save the Fast passes for once the lines get long. Then, finish off with the less popular rides once you are out of fast passes.

Also, if you order Food, use the Disney app and pick it up when it's ready. Don't wait in line like a fool! But, you can take food into the park so take advantage of that.
