As was Ness TBH. And Jigglypuff wouldn't have been a lot of people's choice for a Pokemon.
I wouldn't really call any of those characters newcomers since it was the first game in the series.
Jigglypuff was pretty popular back in the day.
Helped that she had a re-occurring role in the anime. Even if it was always just for laughs. I wouldn't call her out there.
Ness was weird for the west but for Japan it wasn't that weird.

Probably because if the box theory is true, it means there are two characters left and we know exactly who they are. Chairs just meant skullkid would get in. Music theory implies certain series can't get in.

Maybe, maybe not. I'm just guessing, since I got too hyped for Skull Kid last direct and I basically got nothing, even with Young Link in the game and having the Moon as an assist trophy.
It will have at least one direct to explain what the hell is the mosaic/spirit, but I don't think that there will be big surprises until the release.
Also, I'm starting to think that something like the ballot is less likely this time...

I stay in my opinion. 12 to 14 new characters in the base roster. So 5 more left to be announced at most.
Not sure why people are acting like the box theory is unrealistic. Sure it's pessimistic, but if I've learned anything with video games, it always pays to be pessimistic. At worst you don't get let down, and at best you're pleasantly surprised.
