is this release date for The Haunting of Hill House on wikipedia real? I havent heard a peep about this and it comes out in less than a month?

"The Haunting of Hill House is an upcoming American supernatural horror television series created by Mike Flanagan. It is based on the 1959 novel of the same name by Shirley Jackson, and will premiere on Netflix.[1] The first season will consist of ten episodes[1] and will be released on October 12, 2018."

Then again DD S3 was leaked by Netflix Thailand as coming mid october also (maybe even the 12th also) and we also abrely saw anything from it, let alone a trailer. Weird. Or maybe im just even more out of the loop than I thought.

Is he still working on that sci-fi comedy show for HBO?

Yes, they recently announced Hugh Laurie and Suzy Nakamura as the leads.

It's definitely coming on the 12th, critics already have it for review! Reviews should start popping up in the next week or so.

Great news!
Netflix Picks Up BBC Drama Thriller 'Bodyguard' Starring 'Game Of Thrones' Richard Madden
Breakout new BBC One drama Bodyguard is headed to Netflix. The streaming network will carry the terror thriller starring Game of Thrones' Richard Madden and Line of Duty's Keeley Hawes outside of the UK and Ireland (and China where Netflix is not available). The series' Netflix premiere is set for October 24.
Created, written and executive produced by Jed Mercurio, Bodyguard premiered on BBC One a couple of weeks ago to 10.4 million consolidated viewers, with a 40.9% share on BBC One. This is the highest launch figure for any new drama across all UK channels in a decade. Its most recent episode, the fifth ep, which aired on Sunday evening, averaged an overnight rating of 8M viewers and a 38.2% share. This was an increase of over 1M on last week's average overnight figure and the highest overnight rating of the series so far.

Also, these two articles being back-to-back amused me:

Over/under on Emmys ratings being down?
Come on, who wouldn't want to watch the charismatic and hilarious duo of Jost/Che?

As far as I know DD S3, Punisher S2 and JJ S3 are all coming, but for example IF S2 pretty much ends on a cliffhanger and the new showrunner is out there talking about shit he wants to do for S3 :/
I read back when the Disney streaming service was discussed that Netflix has the ability to continue with the shows they have created for as long as they continue to renew them.

Emmy Ratings Fall Double Digits To New Low, Despite Move To Monday By NBC
Even with the return of blockbuster Game of Thrones to the competition and without having to face Sunday Night Football for the first time since 2014, the Emmys continued its ratings downturn last night.

Snagging a 7.4/13 result in metered market ratings, the NBC broadcasted and Michael Che and Colin Jost hosted 70th Primetime Emmy awards hit an all-time low on Monday

The Lorne Michaels executive produced and Saturday Night Live thick ceremony down 10% in the early metrics from last year's Stephen Colbert fronted show of September 16, 2017 on CBS.
I'm shocked. Shocked I tell you. That the simply electric and iconic duo of Che/Jost didn't bring in viewers, who could have seen this happening?

I'm gonna guess that it'll be even, if a little bit up from last year.

I was surprised by that cancelation, I heard it wasnt half bad either? :/

btw RatskyWatsky , do you know the ins and outs of the Disney / Marvel / Netflix deal for those originals? Disney said they wouldnt remove the shows from netflix, but I also dont see why they would keep greenlighting new seasons on a competing platform now?

As far as I know DD S3, Punisher S2 and JJ S3 are all coming, but for example IF S2 pretty much ends on a cliffhanger and the new showrunner is out there talking about shit he wants to do for S3 :/

There's been no public announcement on it as far as I know, or even a general comment on it. But there usually isn't. Most likely, Netflix has the rights to these shows potentially indefinitely. They definitely have them as long as they keep making them. No way Netflix would have signed a deal that didn't allow them to benefit from their own work at a stable rate. Otherwise, Marvel could just pull the license and then develop them themselves on a competing platform after Netflix took on the risk of producing them in the first place. Would be insanely stupid for Netflix to sign such a deal.

geez i was flipping through EWs fall preview and once again looks like there is very little id be interested in besides shows id be returning too

Yeah. Network television is getting thrashed in recent years. Nothing at all suits my tastes except a few shows that are still on. Only ones I watch are Survivor and Elementary. My wife watches Grey's Anatomy.

I cut the cord this summer after I moved and realized I didn't miss cable at all. I had planned to go back this fall, but the wife and I bother agree there's no point even to get YouTube TV or Sling for pretty cheap.

When will they do away with the concept of seasons for network tv?

Sigh.
James Comey's 'A Higher Loyalty' Near Deal At CBS Studios For Miniseries From Billy Ray, Alex Kurtzman & Shane Salerno
We hear CBS Television Studios has won an auction and is in final negotiations for the rights to former FBI director James Comey's memoir A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership. The bestselling book by Comey, who was fired by President Donald Trump in May 2017, will be adapted into a miniseries that will be written by Oscar-nominated Captain Phillips scribe Billy Ray.

The project comes from Alex Kurtzman's CBS TV Studios-based Secret Hideout and Shane Selerno's The Story Factory. We hear it has a series commitment, though it has not been determined on which CBS platform it would air: CBS All Access, Showtime or CBS.
Word is Comey flew in to Los Angeles for a series of pitch meetings with both film and TV (premium cable and streaming) buyers, which was held at CAA earlier this month.

Which means I probably should post this bit of news I purposefully ignored earlier:
'Chasing Hillary': Amy Chozick's Clinton Presidential Campaign Memoir Nabbed By Warner Bros. TV For Series Development
In a competitive situation, Warner Bros. TV has acquired the rights to Amy Chozick's bestselling memoir Chasing Hillary: Ten Years, Two Presidential Campaigns and One Intact Glass Ceiling, to develop as a television series.

For a decade, award-winning New York Times journalist Amy Chozick chronicled Hillary Clinton's pursuit of the presidency, starting with her imploding 2008 campaign against then-rising Democratic challenger Barack Obama. Chozick was assigned to "The Hillary Beat" ahead of the 2016 Presidential election. The book provides a candid and rollicking first-hand account of the Clinton campaign's unraveling and her surprising loss to Donald Trump. It was an instant best-seller when it was released by HarperCollins on April 24.
And that one of course included this titbit which we might have talked about at some point but dear god I care less about all of this than anyone cared for the Jost/Che jokes at the Emmys
Last year, TriStar Television optioned Jonathan Allen & Amie Parnes' book Shattered: Inside Hillary Clinton's Doomed Campaign, which traces the missteps that led to her crushing defeat at the hands of Donald Trump, to develop as a limited series.
Could we just like not do this? I don't want to watch these.

Was she only locked into those shows cause of Les or is it that this just the the natural blowback from Les hitting her? I didn't think she'd be ousted from the network

Edit: Not Les himself hitting her, I mean the blowback hitting her

She seemingly resigned, so I would imagine this is her "taking a stand". They probably would've kicked her out without her husband around anyways, especially given how she defended him, but got beat to the punch.

It's definitely her taking a stand. Last week she signed off as "Julie Chen Moonves" on Big Brother for the first time ever. Every other time in every other season she just signs off as "Julie Chen".

Another Maniac review:

Seems the EW review people were freaking out over is pretty far off the norm here.

And another one:

Substance-wise, it never quite adds up to as much as it aspires to, but it's just so weird, gorgeous, surprising and, yes, fun that the hollowness ultimately didn't bother me that much. (Think: Legion Season One as opposed to Legion Season Two.) The emperor's new clothes may be invisible, but goddamn do they look good on him.
