UPDATE: Four injured, no fatalities in Middleton workplace shooting

Wisconsin State Journal said:
Four people have been shot, none fatally, in a workplace shooting in Middleton Wednesday morning, City Administrator Mike Davis said. The shooter has also been shot, Davis said.

"It appears the situation is stable now," Davis said. "The bad news is that there were four injured by the suspect."

Davis, who said he got his information from Middleton Police Chief Charles Foulke, said the suspect was critically injured and taken to an area hospital, as were the four victims.

Police are responding to a report of an active shooter at a commercial building in a suburb of Madison, Wisconsin.

The State Journal reports that the Dane County dispatch center said shots have been fired at Esker Software in Middleton. Police and multiple ambulances have responded.

Dane County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Elise Schaffer confirmed there is an "active shooter situation" and that the office is assisting Middleton Police with the response. She provided no additional information.

Wisconsin State Journal said:
The 911 Communications Center said at about 10:30 a.m. that the shooter was at 1850 Deming Way, which houses companies that include Esker Software and WTS Paradigm.

State Journal reporter Dean Mosiman said from the scene said there were at least 40 police squad cars and ambulances from multiple jurisdictions outside the building.

Mosiman said one woman was taken out of the building screaming, saying it was "a devastating loss." She was being held up by another person.

The Dane County Medical Examiner's Office said nobody from the office has been sent to the scene as of 11:10 a.m. The medical examiner is called in if there are fatalities.

Yikes. I didn't hear about this until I saw this thread. I used to live in Madison not far from there. Raven Soft is just a few blocks from there.

Well that's the closest I've ever been to one, drove past there at least a couple times a week. It's right by Raven Software who work on CoD, glad there are no fatalities

I work in Madison. I'm not anywhere near where the shooting took place, but there's definitely been talk about it.

Actually, the shooter died from his wounds. The victims who were injured seem to be holding up.


There was also an accidental shooting on a bus near Lafollette High School in Madison where a 16 year old was showing a 17 year old a firearm the 16 year old had, and it went off injuring the 17 year old.

This is happening too often, both the deliberate and the accidental.
