Which Series Has the Longest String of Great Entries in a Row

Yeah, that one is a series that just hardly disappoints. Some chapters were better than others, but at the end of the day they always deliver a lot of fun moments. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is the culmination of years of improvements and is definitely the best, but to this day going back to the DS version (for example) still feels good enough.

I think Persona is currently on a streak (3, 4, & 5).
Back in the day I loved SoulCalibur 1-3.
Halo 1-3, ODST, & Reach I adored but I know not all people love them equally.
Resident Evil had a streak with the first two games and has been on & off ever since 3.
I think that Tony Hawk's Pro Skater takes this one.

I'm counting the GBA games as seperate entries as they were developed by different teams and had different (though admirably close) gameplay. Don't know if it's right to consider Sk8land its own game, though - it's pretty much straight up American Wasteland with some cuts due to the constraints of the DS. Downhill Jam for the DS was a pretty good game IMO, much much better than its Wii counterpart, but I dunno how many people will agree with me there

Yeah, no. You can not like VIII but it's still a great game. Maybe the least great out of that era. But denying its quality is silly.

4 games isnt a long streak? Though tbh I would say FF4-FFX would more correct.
The whole thread is about everyone's subjective opinions. Of course someone can say it's not great.
IMO, gotta be Zelda. Just hit it out of the park every time for me.
I've genuinely been very impressed with Call of Duty, to be honest. It might not be what people think of when faced with a question like this, and certainly some people will be vocal that some entries are worse than others (Ghosts, etc.) but in general this is a very high quality series that consistently performs well from a technical point of view and offers a lot of value with different game modes (campaign, multi, zombies) and in most versions offering full split-screen support on console (even some PC versions support this).
Yes, they're expensive and the exploitative way in which Activision charge for them is a huge turn-off but in terms of the actual games themselves they've been consistently very good-to-great for well over a decade. I think it's a good example of how to build and sustain a franchise in this industry.

11 was an MMO and reportedly not that good. It had a cult following though. Runescape, of course, had a cult following, so I don't know how much that really says.

Final Fantasy and Zelda are the two franchises that come to mind for me. (I mean, FF's run alone is godly - FFVI->FFVII->FFVIII->FFIX->FFX. I love FFXII, but I also understand why it is divisive.)
I know why a lot of people don't count them, buuut those CDi games are technically Zelda games...
Excuse me, the fifteenth and sixteenth Touhou games have been out for quite a while, and predictably, they're both great. Yeah, Touhou probably wins this contest here.
I'd give second place to Etrian Odyssey -- six mainline games plus two remakes, all of which have been very good.

- The GG Shinobi II: Silent Fury
- Shinobi III (aka the GOAT)
- Shinobi Legions (The digitized graphics are lol, but the game itself is still incredibly solid)

- Nightshade
- Shinobi 3DS

Also Pokemon: Gen 1 - Gen 5 were phenomenal (so with third versions, that like what, 15 games!?)
Yup completely agree.
No KH has really let me down, and really ReCoded was good at a gameplay level for DS, but story wise it seemed the most insignificant (Though judging from the latest KH3 trailer, they're using at least one thing from it)
Souls series was a good shout.
Yakuza has been great so far (Though found Kiwami 1 disappointing, didn't top 0 for me, but 6/2 are doing better jobs)
Loved all the God of Wars too, even Ascension, though it could have been better without the MP mode.
Metal Gear Solid 1-5 + Rising (Rising is probably one of my favourite games ever period, and enjoyed all the MGSs, except 5 partly because it thought having re-hashes of old missions was a good idea to progress to new story missions).
Code: Veronica is amazing though so it certainly does not!

Rest assure. I love every titles I have played (from Radiant Dawn to the 3 GBA titles and the 3 3DS games).
