This doesn't explain why there hasn't been any PS1 BC on the PS4 for the last five years AT ALL.
Well for the price you get a bunch of games important to people's childhoods in a console that is in the design of said console. Makes sense to me. Nostalgia feels dam good
God I hope I'm not too late for the party on the Best Buy preorder, I got one for Day 1 pick up but I'm surprised it hasn't sold out yet.
Because the original controller has much cheaper components, obviously.

Announcement came out of nowhere. Scalpers didn't have time to react...yet. We didn't know this was coming. They dropped it out of nowhere, probably on purpose due to scalpers.
PS1's library is so gigantic and beautiful that there's no way they'll be able to please anyone with just 20 games. Someone is bound to be disappointed lol.
It's USB powered, like the NES/SNES Minis, most modern TVs have USB ports.
Keep in mind this is the original PS1 version of FFVII. Not the PSN rerelease or enhanced PC port on PS4. This version has only been on PS1 so you have to look back at that.

Is there any hope that Sony will justify the $99 and add some nice emulator features like perspective-corrected texture mapping and stuff? We had a thread on it the other day, I know people prefer games exactly as they played back in the day and it can have a certain nostalgia to it - but I'd love it if they had a high res rendering mode in there and texture correction. I suspect not but that would be amazing.
An N64 classic would really need modes and options. I'm not paying big bucks to play vasaline N64 games at 15-20fps.

Why are you so shocked. Even the 2ds/3DS don't include adapters. Do you find that hilarious too?
If this has Metal gear solid and Symphony of the night, I'm buying it Day 1. If not, I'm skipping. I don't have nostalgia for the PS1 but I do for those two games.
Gotta be, I still remember that late night Amazon US weird SNES product page drop which ended up being the SNES classic. That was a long and confusing night for many XD
It probably depends on if they're doing seperate game lists for the US and Europe - exactly one of those games you list got released in the EU, and whilst there's probably room for one or two games that didn't release whilst the PSOne was an actual ongoing concern, it'd probably be a marketing no-no to fill the thing with games people have no nostalgia for.
Most likely 16GB but maybe 32GB depending on the exact roster (though unlikely). For reference, with basic Zip compression the total size of those 5 games drops to ~2.5GB.

Jumping flash = 205MB
Wild Arms = 202MB
Tekken 3 = 439MB
Ridge Racer Type 4 = 331MB
FFVII discs 1, 2 & 3 = 462MB, 455MB & 402MB
Those discs were my "Jam". Having to decide between a magazine plus a jam pack or a cheap full game was the toughest decision as a kid
To the people complaining Sony "copied" Nintendo and that they used 'classic'.

They just think that Ps4 players don't want to bother with old looking 3d games whatsoever, while mini console devices like this one simply cater to almost a completely different market altogether.
