Drawing comparisons to Nintendo's line of classic consoles was inevitable. I would have expected a few light-hearted digs at Sony for it. I don't think anyone here is actually offended by the product, which is why I'm thrown off by people talking about salt and console warring. If anything I think people got overly defensive over the product being called a copy.

My friends and I use the terms "SonyGAF" and "NintendEra". I think there is a Nintendo bias here, but I don't find it toxic or offensive.

This is great news. Tekken 3, FFVII and Wild Arms are worth the price of admission alone for me. Even if this thing is full of games I already own, I might bite just for convenience.

Why bother... Everyone knows what this is. Everyone has watched the classic Nintendo one sell month after month all year too. Not doing this would be stupid. These companies borrow/steal from each other all the time. Fuck the games, just call it what it is and release it.

In all seriousness unless this has a store you can buy more PS1 games from it's not something I'm personally interested in, and I would prefer PS1 games on PS4, however I'm happy to see older games getting another push, and I'm happy for everyone who is excited for this

I'll probably pass, most PS1 games I'd be interested in returning to are playable on the Vita anyway.

Funnily they did a lot of the stuff the big 3 get credit for first (not as well in most cases tbf). But I guess the saying history is written by the Victor applies to a lot of that.

I'm curious to see if this will be successful. Sony doesn't seem to be as strongly associated to nostalgia as Nintendo can be; the PS1 is remembered fondly by gamers, but I have no idea if it is also the case for the wider audience.

Pretty sure this will sell gangbusters just like previous classic consoles (especially if they get the lineup right)

Sega didn't do squat. They licensed some games (that they were doing nothing with) for another manufacturer to make some retro systems that could only be described as "cheap." Nintendo is the first one to do it properly and it's why Sega is making their next Mini console themselves this time around.

yes, but this PS1 Classic is highly likely being pushed from the recent success of NES and SNES classics. not some weird dark Chinese mini console
