Surprisingly, Splatoon 2 does NOT support Cloud Saves.

That is not surprising as Nintendo did not want users to manipulate the online saves and cheat online, although that obviously has failed.

are the only ones I've encountered so far.

Dead Cells actually does support it despite early reports.

I don't play that game, but how save restore will make you cheat in this game? Is there item trade option like Pokemon?

NBA 2K18 supports cloud saving. If that does I'm going to assume NBA 2K19 does as well.

Also how long should it be before the system starts backing up saves? Hasn't done mine yet. I've manually saved a few games. I figure it might be done over night but can't find any information on when it might be done. How do other systems handled it?

My Octopath Traveler cloud saved as soon as I saved normally. So I figure games you're actively playing get backed up right away. I'm talking more about the saves of games you aren't playing but are still on the system.

From my experience it's a matter of what's NOT supported, since like 95% of my stuff supports it out of the box, even old games released months ago and even at launch like BOTW and Snipperclips.

Some demos if I recall correctly do also, I'll have to recheck.

Bad implementation unlike Aces which supports cloud saves. Splatoon team needs to stop being dumb.

Fortnite, Phantasy Star, and DQX are all online based so it makes sense those wouldn't backed up. I think people in the lead up to this forgot that or just ignored it that those games wouldn't even need to.

1-2 Switch is surprising though.

No word on Monster Hunter? When I had to semd in my Wii U some years back to Nintendo and got it back my file for MH3U couldnt be recovered and i lost almost 300 hours of playtime so i never touched another MH till GU. Gonna need some cloud supporr, stat.

Almost all your player data is stored locally, so if you get a bad gear ability roll or lose your rank, you could reset to your stored save.

TBH, if they're really worried about this they could force people to opt-in to automatic backups and run them in the background while the game is running. Your rank doesn't change apart from online matches anyway

My NBA 2K18 file was around 200mb, maybe a bit more. I don't have a lot saved in that game though. So I guess more seasons, etc you do might make the file larger. If that helps any.

And that is on them. It's not the consumers fault they don't host/store server information like rankings.

Never heard of ranking being locally saved for multiplayer.

Here's an unexpected boon of the cloud save system: when you manage your backups you can see precisely when your local saves were last updated (up to one year) as well as precisely how much space each game's save files are taking up. I don't believe either of these were previously directly visible.

Phantasy star online II and DQX are MMOs that have their own server side account information. For those, there shouldn't even be anything to Cloud Save unless something is very wrong with those versions. I'd assume the same us true for Fortnite, Minecraft and the upcoming Warframe and Diablo releases.

That would be the best solution given the situation, it'd require a patch to remove rewards from LAN Salmon Run to keep parity. I just think the Splatoon 2 team don't value cloud saves to make it work.
