Hmm. So Odyssey still lets me play the Balloon World minigame but Rocket League asks me to get a subscription at bootup. I wonder if this is Nintendo privilege or if asynchronous online features will remain free.

So if I want to try the 7 day trial I have to cancel 2 days before or they'll charge a monthly subscription instead of my intended 12 month sub? So it's really a 5 day trial?

Can somebody PM me when NES Controllers go up for pre-order? The Direct said they'd go up for pre-order today, right?

I played for an hour with my wife on the free trial. It's slick and it's fun. But for someone like me who doesn't play online games, I think I'll wait until the library is bigger before subscribing.

im still working on the download of the update to confirm but you should just need to add them via https://accounts.nintendo.com/family you will need their emails for each account.

My son's was automatically connected as soon as i updated his switch. Also had set it up on the site earlier.

I am main account holder, have added family via the website settings. Will update my sons switch and it should connect automatically is my understanding once I download the NES app?

ty all! To the website!

I can confirm that X is indeed mapped to B in SMB, if you want to play with X/A. Not quite the same as post-SMW muscle memory for Y/B, but it's what I was using for NES and GBA VC anyway. (And Y isn't mapped to anything.) We really do need full configurability, though. Still have to test other games to see if this is universal.

Does anyone know how to hide the additional UI elements (tips for Start/Select/menu buttons, user profile avatar in the corner) once you're in-game?

The lack of any kind of random matchmaking is disappointing but the whining and hand wringing is insufferable.

Nintendo pulls the tantrums out of people every single time.
What do you classify as a tantrum, exactly? I don't think anything is being thrown, or kicked, or tears are being shed. One could call your assertion of there being tantrums overreacting as well. It's perfectly fine for people to be critical of Nintendo. Also, if you have a problem with a specific post or poster, you should quote them so they can respond to your accusation.

I'm seeing a couple of reports on reddit of screen burn-in playing Dr. Mario undocked. No proof posted, but might want to be aware.

The Danger Zone
I tried Dr.Mario with a yellow connection and Mario Bros Arcade with a blue connection. Im running on a wifi 5ghz connection.

Both had varying degrees of imput lag and it was noticable.

Only played a couple of NES games but this feels like the best input lag out of any official Nintendo NES emulation yet (besides Retroarch with runahead). I have tons of NES muscle memory and can't play the NES/SNES Classic on this TV because I'm sensitive to the lag. Wii/WiiU was generally worse due to upscaling.

This is either perfect or at most a frame of extra lag on the same TV.

If you have a Japanese account you can download the Famicom app and play it while only paying for online for a NA account.

Same games right now, but if Japan gets games NA doesn't that will come in handy. Worth checking out the menu though to see the JP art

Playing SMB3 and honestly I'm enjoying the app. It's very sleek and easy to operate.

Really looking forward to them adding SNES games, and probably years from now when they decide to put in N64 and Wii titles (hopefully we finally get GCN too).

How can anyone think Ghosts n Goblins, Mario 3, and Zelda are trash? I can and will play those games a number of times each month.

Paid with PayPal through the eShop for the year subscription and got an error. So I tried the 7 day trial. Checked my PayPal account to make sure no payment was processed and the payment is showing for the $21.19 yearly subscription but as "preapproved". My system is not showing my subscription though, just the 7 day trial status. Awesome.

Edit: So I just went back to the eShop and the $21.19 was available for me to purchase the subscription. For a minute there I thought this was gonna be a headache.

Got my NES controllers preordered. Whew! Can't wait because the button options aren't all that great with the joy cons.

I thought the same thing. Got a bit further than I normally do messing around in SMB, noticed I was dodging enemies better than usual.

Honestly...I'm pretty sure 99% of my time with this service initially will be spent playing River City Ransom, Gradius, and maybe a little double dragon. Nothing else I seem to be interested in. No contra, no castlevania, no kirby...eh its just most a bunch of stuff I couldn't give a shit about. I've already played the NES Mario bros 1 & 3 so many times growing up that I could beat them blind folded. Now if it were Mario Bros 3 with the e-reader levels, i'd be pretty hyped.

I am sharing the family plan with a group of 8 friends. Am I supposed to make everyone a parent/guardian, or does the default family member setting give them access to everything needed?
