We've known about the ability to have your account on multiple systems since May I figured this was obvious based on that, guess not.

http://www.nintendolife.com/news/20..._account_on_multiple_nintendo_switch_consoles

Nintendo now allows deactivating your primary console through a website! No longer need to call them

  • Off-device deactivations can be done by visiting accounts.nintendo.com, selecting "Shop Menu", and then "Deactivate Primary Console".
Only once per year you can do Off-device deactivations

This is new and very welcome though.

Now what if this is say, Let's Go Pikachu & Eevee? Will the save file transfer? Or will it be a whole new save for that family member to have and play?

Or is it not available at all for game share?

I would imagine that save files are locked on to the console itself and since Pokémon Let's Go doesn't support cloud saving, you don't get access to your save files at all.

Ok now here's the catch:

On secondary devices, only the profile of the buyer is able to access the games. Other profiles can't access them :/

And with cloud saves that means sharing the saves (unless it can be disabled in some way)

Do I still have to get on the phone to deactivate a system?

That's fine. It's the way it works on PS4. Still great since even if that makes the limit 2 people, who can play the game at the same time, that's still 1 extra person you can share games with than we had before.

Also pretty appropriate that the graphic in the OP has an account called John, because this feature seems like it's perfect for Dark1x and his two Switch testing setup.

I assume you can just disable automatic cloud saves on your secondary device. And if you're using it to play Splatoon 2 it doesn't matter anyway lmao.

Oh god, watch GameFreak restrict this function on their games.

Well, you can share your own saves with people who wanted to play your progress of your games. And to get access to your profile, of which you share, they would need you to consent to share your profile and sensitive information.

Very strongly suggesting Nintendo is "trusting" the players to work out what the players wanted themselves within the limitations set forth by Nintendo, the rules of play.

So you can do something like primary on my brother Switch and and does the same with mine.
The bad point is that we'll need constant internet connection but I guess you can gameshare that way.

You can't note this, because it requires rolling out the feature with the support pages at the same time. :/

It's a standard policy.
... Whatever, having better communication channels with costumers is not something to be applauded, but coming from Nintendo it should still receive a mention other than just patch notes...

Oh wow. Nintendoes what Sonydon't. Please add this feature to PSN, Sony.

Edit: Ok, didn't realise Sony does kind of let you do this by deactivating all systems at once but they don't let you deactivate individual systems remotely, which is what I actually want.

For a portable system, forced online to play on non-primary account is a dealbreaker for me. Getting a consistent Wifi connection outdoors is a problem for me.

Announce the online service - with underwhelming features - to millions via Nintendo Direct/social media, to the scorn of many. Stealth drop features that people are actually excited about...

'Wii U marketing team' came back from vacation?

No other way for that to work. The ticket is signed to the account owning it and that's how its installed properly. They'd have to rework their entire ownership verification to allow different accounts to use it, and that would fuck up their detection of piracy users trying to access online.

Yet another MEGATON that somehow went through the advertisers heads...
What's wrong with Nintendo?

You have a weird definition of megaton. A lot of the online stuff are people in a bubble arguing with each other. The casual Switch owners I know are in mostly for the cloud saves and the low price. The minutiae doesn't matter. This is good news nonetheless.

I suspect we'll be sitting here in March 2019 looking at their online subs and people wondering why the 'negative' reaction didn't matter.

So, I can login on a second Switch under my account and allow someone else to play the game as long as I am logged in? Awesome

Read my other posts... I know it's not a Megaton by casual standards, but still...

Can the same device be set as a primary for my own account and as a sub for a friend's account at the same time?

The system checks if the account can access the game and then boots up. If the other Switch -- the one with the primary account is being used, the game on the secondary Switch will be suspended.
