BoJack Horseman seems to be possibly nearing its endgame with the show itself bemoaning how characters can't be happy in a show or the show ends and with the characters being developed nearly as much as they can. Some in the Era thread criticized the show for spinning its wheels though myself and many others disagree.

BoJack is one of my favorite TV shows and I enjoy watching it a lot so it feels weird to ask for fewer episodes, but it also feels like the show is reaching a natural ending. What is your take?

10 and then a movie

Also 10th season should make fun of how long and running in circles show as been and begin sharpening the fin

Unless they seriously explore other characters, the show will eventually become one note (i think it already has). Who wants a show that has overstayed its welcome?

What else is there to explore about Bojack's story?

I think 6 unless they really do something in season 6 that justifies more. All the character arcs are now in their third act, and I don't think they benefit from more stretching.

I don't think it's spinning its wheels yet but 1 or 2 more sounds right. Although I wouldn't be opposed to more than that in the form of a spinoff. The show has a really rich cast of tertiary characters.

I can't imagine anyone thinking this series has been spinning it's wheels. It seems to get progressively better each season, consistently more thoughtful, emotionally challenging and continuing to take the story into unexpected places.

However...

We can only watch Bojack self-destruct and "poison" the people he cares about for so long before it becomes tiresome and too painful to endure. We've seen small amounts of growth in these characters and it's really beautiful to see in action as the storyline progresses but I'm hoping the story reaches an eventual conclusion.

I really don't want to see Netflix pull a Showtime and drag this storyline past it's natural expiration date.

Two more feels sustainable. The quality is still high enough, most of the characters are only now beginning to acknowledge their flaws, and are still moving forward season by season even if there's some regression episode by episode. But season 8 would probably be pushing it.

I want to see more development on Bojack and not just the same cycle of destruction every season. Maybe another 1 or 2 more seasons to close it out and give us a satisfy ending

One, maybe two more. It's one of my favourite shows and I still feel the quality is there but pretty soon it's either going to run out of steam or become repetitive. I'd hate to see a show I love go down like that.

Trick question. As many as the people running the show thinks it needs. I think Raphael Bob-Waksberg and crew have proven they're thoughtful enough to make BoJack one of the most challenging and insightful shows about the human condition ever made. That thoughtfulness and insight, to me at least, shows that they will know when to stop.

Should have been 3-4. Show feels drawn out at this point. I dont even care about the development at the end of season 5 cause you know in season 6 hes just gonna fuck up again.

Season 5 was boring and didnt have any big emotional moments that season 2 and 3 had. Or suspense cause you already know whats happening.

Seasons 1 and 2 were good, but I couldn't get into Season 3 and am inclined to not try and watch it since it seems intent on simply repeating that Bojack is a horrible person who is trying to do better. It gets old.

I don't feel like it needs to end any time soon, but if Bob-Waksberg and his pals want to begin to wrap things up then I can see it lasting 2 more seasons. If they don't want to go on a lot longer, then most of the characters are in a place where their arcs can be completed in that time and feel complete.

I'll keep watching regardless, but it does feel like it's getting close to having run its course. One or maybe two seasons more sounds about right.

I don't think it's spinning its Wheels myself, but I also don't see it going much further without breaking past logical conclusions for some of its characters. I think a 6th season that starts to gear things towards a conclusion would allow for a 7 season, but I also wouldn't mind if they wrapped everything up in one more as well. The problem is 5 didn't really feel as if it was a linchpin near a finale so I would fear that a season 6 as a conclusion may feel rushed.

I honestly felt like the last two seasons were quite good, in the most recent season I feel in some ways was better than the last two more than not.

I said after season 4 the show needs to end soon while it's still good, but everyone was like "no, this show can go on forever!" But now everyone agrees with me.
Hmmmm

As many as they want to do, as far as I'm concerned. Episodes are still immensely fun and creative. 6-10 from the fifth season are all awesome.

I don't get why people are acting like this is The Simpsons in Season 28, when they've only just released a 5th season.

I did not care about the story line this season as much as the one off episodes like the MeToo and Eulogy episodes.

There's no way this show doesn't end with his own death. I think two more season would be perfect.

The next season should be it's last. Bojack gets help and finally starts to make amends for his past and the way he's treated people.

Bojack shouldn't get a sappy or happy ending. It should be poignant but basically him just accepting it. And it better not him dying or anything dumb like that.

The last season was great, but I think if they go more than 2 more it's really going to be stretching it

This is going to sound morbid, but I think this next one should be the last one. Not because I think it's a bad show. I think this last season is one of the better seasons, but I think Bojack has gone off the rails so many times that he's going to OD next season. There are no happy endings in television.

1 more season at best, 2 seasons at worst. There's only so many seasons of Bojack constantly fucking up before the show starts to feel like its spinning its wheels. Either have him go clean and stay that way for the rest of his natural life or have him OD, but it feels like next season should be the last.

No more than 1 more season. Character development is solid, not much more to say. Also rarely does media stay good more than 8 seasons.

New Yawk City!
I think we saw some characters make some really important, almost "act-of-my-life-ending" personal choices that can play out and then we can call it.

I love this show but I would hope for them to end it after the next season and the creators move on to the next show (which I know they've already talked about).
