So trainer customisation has been a pretty important part in personalising your Pokemon journey since its inclusion in Pokemon X/Y back in 2013. If you've got dark skin, it was nice to finally be able to play as someone that looked like you. If the default outfits weren't to your taste, there was a plethora of different clothing in the game for you to mix and match with to make the trainer look the way you want them to. If you have a specific eye colour, you could change it. If you wanted a specific hairstyle, that was there too. It was all really simple stuff, and maybe not as varied as it could be, but it was a step in the right direction, making the series more inclusive, as well as making everyone look different online which was really cool.
Game Freak did not include customisation in the 2014 release, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, citing the reason that it was a remake and that dressing up and fashion were a Kalos thing. This of course was an excuse (an extremely bad one imo) and thankfully, customisation was brought back in the 2016 release Sun and Moon, adding additional skin tones, a lot more clothing, and the ability to dye clothes.
So now we've come to Let's Go. None of the footage and screenshots show any variation in skin tone, eye colours or hair styles. The only outfits there are are specific outfits that match your starter Pikachu and Eevee that can dress up. In reality, all of the customisation has seem to gone to the starter Pokemon instead of the trainer.
Now nothing has been confirmed but it seems strange to me that we are two months away from release with nothing about this feature, especially given their PR has specifically made a point to say that this game is for everyone. It is also especially strange when Pokemon Go, the game this game is trying to attract its audience from, has had all of this trainer customisation from day 1 and has only continued to expand in support.
Do you think Let's Go will have trainer customisation? Will you care if it's not there? Does this make the game more or less casual friendly?
