I'm glad someone's happy. This is just digging the knife into me more. I didn't realize just how much I wanted Shovel Knight until I realized he wasn't getting in.
Why would five new stages even mean 5 new characters? It could be stuff like Minecraft or Elektroplankton.
I mean, he is an indie character. He's nowhere near the level of any other third party character present in Smash, not even Bayonetta who, despite being niche, has at least starred in two big japanese AAA games.
I could kinda understand getting upset over someone like Bomberman not being playable, but quite frankly it's a miracle that SK's even in the game at all. I imagine the Smash ballot might of had something to do with it.
If there are five more stages (which I think has a decent chance regardless of Corocoro), then I'm certain that all of them will either correspond to a new character or will be from a new franchise that has no reps. I also don't think any of them will be Monster Hunter.
Anything else and it wouldn't make sense why they didn't just announce them during the Smash direct.
Why does more stages HAVE to mean more characters.
We JUST had a newcomer reveal with no stage attached to it.

I know the corocor page is real. I'm not saying it isn't. I legit think it's a mistake because nothing else was new. It didn't even draw special attention to it like I'm certain CoroCoro would do if they got an exclusive scoop.
The numbers not being near each other doesn't mean anything. If you misread it as 108 you're going to put in 108 and not 103. I have been so knee-deep in the stupid smash blog number system that I've seen 120 typo'd as 200
What the Corocoro article did was less convince leak 5 stages but more brought the attention to the possibility of there being more stages.
Like a good amount of people were thinking 103 would be all we get but when over half the real estate of the bottom row is completely missing and the 108 fills perfectly with a potential 6th slot being used for DLC people just realized that made more sense than there being 103 stages.

There are 2 4chan rumors that still hold some kind of weight (one called various DMC5 details, the other called Isabelle's reveal being last Thursday) which mentioned Dante. I personally doubt it in light of both the box theory & the Square Enix rep rumored to be next in line. But as a Devil May Cry fan, I would be completely down for Dante's inclusion.
Man... BGBW did a number on the entire fucking forum, huh? Anyway, quick weighing in about Petey Piranha: I love him. I love Piranha Plants & he's an amusing goof. But there's enough Mario characters in Smash, & a lot more Mario characters I'd rather see like Mary O. or Vivian.
I love the Bayonetta series & voted her for the Ballot at least 5 times. That said, hasn't Shovel Knight's one game sold more than the entire Bayonetta series? I feel like the Ballot helped Shovel Knight get AT recognition, but nobody was submitting Ballot votes just to get a damn AT.

Well, if you looks at this
1. Pokemon Sun/Moon Stage (Incineroar's home stage)
2. Namco Museum stage (Pac Maze become part of it)
3. Monster Hunter stage
4. ROB's home stage or Rhythm Heaven (without playable rep) or something like that (ROB could get Nintendo History stage)
5. Minecraft stage (or any huge third party franchise without playable rep)
I'd like to be Wonder-Socho, because if I had to be a leader of a street gang, I want it to be something I'm proud of.

DMCV INFO was leaked along with Dante in smash info awhile back . It all came true the DMC5 stuff anyways It was a subsequent post in the same thread only a minute apart (You can only post once every 60 seconds). It was not some short bit of info and was detailed. It is extremely unlikely it was anyone other than the OP who made the post.
Regardless of that original rumor/leak though, you also have the 4chan post from this past week who said Isabelle would be the reveal in the recent direct and also said Dante would be revealed in November...
And Imran posted a hint/tease (maybe) for Dante as well. Plus the whole Reuben Sandwich tweet thing.
And Kamiya asking about what Dante should fight Bayonetta when they crossover back in 2015
It's a bit more than just 4chan.
I think it's possible that they might have logged IPs and weeded out repeat votes that way, but yeah, people is dicks.
I would not be surprised at a "all capcom" stage that transitions/transforms into a bunch of Capcom games.
With the knowledge that the ballot was little more than a marketing tool for Nintendo why are we stressing about repeat entries? It wasn't a democratic vote for characters or anything, it was just a way for them to gauge interest (and given that they're reading forums and social media they knew full well that people were submitting multiple times).
What 5 stages would you want in Smash? 2 of them must be for already represented series, 1 must be a stage without a character, and 2 can be stages with new characters.
Pretty sure they did say something to that affect, but you can't weed out everything in a system like this unless there's a pay wall.
I expect if they do the ballot again they'll at least link it to my nintendo accounts. That's still abusable, since you can make however many accounts you want, but it takes more effort.
Thankfully now that Daisy is in, the fandom will feel much less need to resort to botting.

- While Reuben Langdon's retweet was for a then-month-old SFV tweet of Ken's Dante costume, it was still for Ken's Dante costume.
- The Kamiya tweet was from 2016, & I thought that was for PXZ2 before the plans fell through?
- Isabelle being the sole reveal wasn't an easy guess per-say, but it also wasn't a super-hard one.
Okay for starters did you read the original 4chan "leak"? They described a trailer, which is already hella suspicious to begin with (trailer leaks are almost never true) if it weren't also the most poorly-written fan-ficcy trailer I've ever seen. There is no way that was real and just because someone gets some info right doesn't mean they won't try and stretch their moment of fame. It happens all of the time. Second, guessing Isabelle is not special. It was never special and it was even less so at the time that 4chan post came out (Animal Crossing Switch was being heavily speculated). Imran's was joke. Reuben Sandwich was a joke based on the fact that he voices both characters (also nothing there even remotely hints at Smash like at all). Kamiya is an asshole and should never be taken at face value.

To be fair to Okabe, the 4chan post predated the Animal Crossing Switch rumors. Still not a hard guess, but I can see why the post would be seen as having some credibility.
Same here! Shovel Knight is the happiest I've ever been in a Kickstarter, to the point I feel Yacht Club has given us too much. I'm eager for whatever their next project is! I hope it's the "Paper Mario but it's Shovel Knight" game they threw out there awhile back.

The stages thing is my big issue with Dante theories. There's at most maybe 5 more stages, and Monster Hunter is one of them. Is Capcom going to get two of the very limited new stages, or is Dante not gonna get a stage?
Funny how he later backed down on this with Animal Crossing and Wii Sports.
Still, Sakurai has a trend of choosing from the most popular series Nintendo has. Sure you could make the case that Smash has helped smaller series like Xenoblade, but those don't come that often and it was even said as such with Shulk's reveal.
The only new Nintendo IP we got so far is a mega popular A-tier series that never needed Smash to become a success. He's not sticking his neck out there for something like a Dillon.
