That's a lot of grass and snow but where is my desert? Can't have a western without barren deserts. Is it possible that they haven't revealed all the cities yet?

Desert environment already seen in gameplay footage. I don't think these are all of the cuties either considering they didn't show Blackwater, or anything regarding West Elizabeth at all, despite those being shown in footage already.

I think Rockstar has been pretty tight lipped with this game for a reason. I kind of have the inkling that this game might wind up being a watershed moment for open world games and their design, similar to GTA III, and most recently Breath of the Wild.

I'm excited to see what they've got cooking with this game and I really like that they've kept things pretty close to their chest.

Thinking that this will be game of the year, easily.

For a site you would assume would have it's finger on the pulse of gamers at large, it is truly baffling that there are comments saying there is little hype for this game. Don't confuse the fact that the media blitz isn't in full force yet or some of the negativity that runs rampant in any hardcore community with it not being the biggest release of the year.

I'm just glad we're getting a real story driven game from rockstar again. Gtav was.... What's the word...? "Yikes"?

What are the chances of graphical downgrades? I remember with GTA V, that Trevor walking away from the house and fire scene and that clearly looked better in the trailer. That was a character trailer however I believe.

The actual gameplay trailer didn't have anything that was downgraded in the full game did it?

I loved Red Dead Redemption but for some reason, I'm not excited about this at all :(

You & me both, and an oddly large number of people.

Maybe I just need to say the character walking around and doing gameplay stuff for an extended time, rather that all this clip stuff and trailer BS? I need to see a few missions played through without any of this cutting around.

Still hope to see something that makes me excited for this game, but not having played the first one I haven't had one reason yet.

I hope that they'll release some gameplay video's soon.

I wonder if this is the 3rd party game that will really set PS4Pro and XboxOneX apart from the base consoles. So far most of the showcase games for the upgraded hardware is 1st party.

No, they aren't. Please, tell me what games they've made that have had great storytelling? I remind you Max Payne 1 & 2 were developed and written by Remedy.
I don't know about you dude, but when I see someone describing a company with the resume of Rockstar as having "bad storytelling", my conclusion is that there is literally nothing you can say to that person to convince them otherwise.

I always find the Rockstar haters, those that hate their approach to marketing and promotion, those that hate on their direction and style, and those that hate on their design emphasises, pretty funny. You can not like their approach to how they do things, but they do things the way that they do for a reason. And they are, in my opinion, the best in the business.

Rockstar Games is less a "video game design company" and more like a design firm/brand/boutique. They are a visual and interactive identity unlike any other game company I think, and that's what I love about them.

Well said. If someone convinces themselves of something that goes against overwhelming evidence that supports the opposite, t's extremely frustrating to sway their opinion.

This. I'm expecting nothing less then a leap forward in open world design/complexity with this game.
If they can manage to fill the world with meaningful sidequests and narrative depth like TW3, this game has the potential to become one of the best ever.

I just realized since they are using fictionalized cities/states, you could have 1880s/1890s tech, but have the "Civil War" going on and something inspired by the New Mexico campaign of the Civil War.

I finally saw The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly a few weeks ago, so I'd love to see Rockstar's take on that. Think that'd be an awesome place to go with a sequel.

There's two things I want from this game

1. The heists to be like those in GTA V but expanded on/a lot more of them

2. Some sort of tie to Revolver. Not just some multiplayer skins, either, but actual story ties to bring all three Red Dead games together. Its been my dream that Red Harlow is a bounty hunter that at some point comes across you and your gang.

Red Dead Redemption, Max Payne 3, GTA IV, GTA V.

I also think The Warriors and Manhunt are underappreciated, but I haven't played those games in years in fairness. Some people would say Bully too, I'd imagine, though I haven't ever really played it. I should change that...

Max Payne 3 is the best Max Payne game, even though I love the first two too. I think the story and presentation of Max Payne 3 is criminally underrated.

In my opinion there is no company out there that makes more complete characters than Rockstar. Especially casting, Rockstar have yet to miscast actor for their character.

GAMEPLAY video with HUD.

Let me tell you a little story about 2K/Rockstar. They are the biggest bullshitters in the industry.

Example one: Bioshock Infinite: I think the year is 2009 and at Gamescom Ken Levine is narrating a supposed level from the game about one third in, besides him is a dude acting as if he is playing the game. The entire level is absolutely incredible looking and Levine tells us you can finish the game without firing a single shot, your actions will influence future levels and yada yada yada. The final game has none of that and does not even include the level that was supposedly all gameplay.

Example 2: Maffia 3 again a so called gameplay demonstration with a person play acting. I sneak in for a second viewing away from the sheduled one I did previously and see the exact same thing for a second time.

Example 3: Maffia 3 again closer to release, yet again we are told that a person will play the game in front of our eyes and the audience is asked if we want stealth or guns blazing. The crwod goes for stealth and the person doing the presentation accidentaly is ahead of script and goes to list the weapons the person supposedly playing has chosen even before he has done so.

GTA IV: Bad to Mediocre.
GTA V: Bad.
Max Payne 3: Embarrassing.
Red Dead Redemption: Mediocre to Decent. RDR1 is the only game with a story that is in any way, half decent. It actually has some overarching themes it seeks to explore, such as the Death of the Old West. But, it does this with the subtly of a sledgehammer with nearly every character you meet in the game banging the theme over your head in case you didn't get it the first hundred times.

Rockstar/Dan Houser has never been a particularly strong writer, especially when it comes to character exploration and themes. Instead, he excels at writing dialogue. He can write some of the funniest little scenes and characters through some great dialogue and witty banter. And, I think people fall in love for this witty banter and zany characters that they forget the rest of the writing is actually pretty poor. Trevor is an entertaining character to watch, his story and characterization is a hot mess that unintentionally reinforces some really negative themes/ideas.

What does 2K Games have to do with Rockstar Games???

Ok? None of your examples talk about Rockstar, so thanks for sharing, I guess?

While Rockstar has been known to show footage of their games that looks better than what we eventually play, most of the time, gameplay footage closer to release looks exactly like what we end up playing. This is that gameplay footage.

Thanks for sharing, I guess, but consensus disagrees with you.

Also, do you base your opinion on the quality of their storytelling on any kind of expertise? Or are you just another guy with another opinion?
