Best Video Game Openings of All Time?

Not sure whether it counts as an "opening" but in the first few moments of Spider-Man, you're swinging toward Fisk Tower and you swing down and these Cop cars are screaming down the street, sirens blaring, with you and the music swells and it just feels totally fucking natural and amazing and holy shit that was epic as all get out. I had to sit back for a moment to let it sink in. Masterfully done.
EDIT: just watched a video of a guy completely fluffing that sequence up by going a different way.

This makes me nostalgic and yearn for something I can't even remember, probably I never even experienced it.

Yeah I don't know how we're defining "openings," it seems everyone has defined it as the intro cinematic, but I nominate God of War 3's opening level:
"A scattered dream that's like a far-off memory... a far-off memory that's like a scattered dream... i want to line the pieces up... yours and mine."
Then Sanctuary give me the chills every single time

I bought a PSOne a few months before FF7 came out, and the guy at EB recommended Wild Arms to fill the JRPG void in my heart in the meantime. The PSOne was my first console since the SNES, so when I put in Wild Arms and saw this intro, it blew my goddamned mind.
I actually got really good at whistling by practicing this song, too.
Dawn of war was hype for me when I was younger. It looks like it aged a bit bad now but it was a really hype way to get into the campaign before it began
I don't know if it counts since its the opening of a game and not a cinematic intro. But for me God of War 3's opening on Gaia's back will always be engraved in my memory as one of the best openings ever in a game. Might be biased because of my love towards the God of War franchise though.

I think the one that was the most memorable to me is the intro of Forza Horizon 2.

Back then the intro alone cost around 1 million dollars and was choreographed by Donnie Yen :)
I still prefer the Japanese voiceover though. Feels more badass in general!
Almost seamless intro into actual gameplay. Loved it then and love it now.
This one is pretty strong too. Though I'm not sure if we're talking about attract modes or opening cinematics.
All the intros that immediately came to mind have already been posted (i.e. Wild Arms, MGS2, FFVII) so I'll post a more recent favorite.

I think Xenogear may take the cake here, even if it was the promise of something never fully realized.
