Disclaimer: I don't watch the show and have only seen a 15 second clip of the finish and the post match

I mean, it was clean but essentially a fluke roll up. Hardly a decisive skilled finish. And the post match in any other situation would 100% be a heel move.

I mean yes but also a clean pin in the middle isn't a heel finish regardless. lol

Certainly not enough so for anyone to think somebody got "screwed".

I can't believe that this kind of bullying is tolerated here.

I started looking at the 09/24 finals card, and I honestly can't figure out the blocks. I went in at first glance thinking Hazuki was going to take it, but mathematically I think she's fucked. She and Momo both have 7 and Mayu has 8, but Momo and Mayu are facing each other. So if Mayu wins, she'll win the block with 10. But if Momo wins and Hazuki wins, then they are tied at 9 and their match was a draw so I have no idea what the tiebreaker is there. But Momo could win and Hazuki could lose, which would send Momo through. And if Hazuki wins and Momo and Mayu draw then Mayu advances because both her and Hazuki would have 9 and Mayu beat Hazuki. Also Kelly Klein has 8 as well but she sucks so fuck that I'm not even entertaining her winning until Rossy does it because he's a fuck.

And then in the Red Block you have Kagetsu and Ellering with 9. But I don't think Kagetsu will win the block, so she will almost have to lose to Tam. Then you are left with Utami and Kyona as the two that can catch Rachel if she loses, and I don't think it's going to be Utami. I don't think Rossy is that crazy to send her to the finals already. So it's Kyona or Rachel, but Rachel has the tiebreaker over Kyona and she drew Utami so if she draws she'll be at 10 and at that point she's basically through unless Kagetsu wins.

Literally me rn

Don't get too bogged down with Serene work when you can just use Occam's Razor. It's going to be the classic Rachel vs Kelly finals!

When it comes to performances Kyona should take her block but I think Rachel or Utami are more likely candidates for the final, Kagetsu has to lose to Tam because I don't think either myself or Tam will survive another soul crushing loss. As for Blue Block I want HZK to win but I'm not sure it will happen, Kelly's out because Rachel's the chosen gaijin this year, I don't think momo will take it because she's holding the white belt, so Mayu seems most likely. The only thing that's having my doubt a Mayu vs Rachel final is they've both had recent losses to Kagetsu.

just skipped through hell in a cell in about 20 mins

saw some of the becky/charlotte match. right result, nice to see.

wasn't expecting brock to show up, that got a little pop out of me.

saw the orton/hardy screwdriver bit. some reaction there.

skipped and hit AJ retaining the title which got a groan. bored of him.

this is the way to watch WWE. completely ignore the TV and skip through the ppvs in 20 minutes.

I feel hungover from watching too many movies this weekend. With BOLA and MLW War Games done, it does feel like we're in a bit of a lull in independent wrestling.

-Chikara has a show this weekend: It Came from Beneath the Sink!

-Nova Pro has a show this weekend: NOVA Project 4, which will stream on Powerbomb.TV. And they're giving away another trial for Powerbomb.TV with code NOVAPRO for 20 days.

Loser Leaves NOVA, Winner controls the 1%!: Logan Easton LaRoux vs Alexander James
Ducks, Ladders, and Chairs! Oh my!: The Ugly Ducklings vs The Hooligans
LuFisto vs Faye Jackson
Powerbomb.TV Independent Wrestling "Hot Sauce" Tracy Williams (c) vs. Jordynne Grace
Dom Garrini and Kevin Ku vs Sage Philips and Jonathan Gresham

-AAW's Jim Lynam Memorial Tournament is at the end of the month (9/28/18) in Chicago, IL.

Announced so far:
Moose vs. Sami Callihan
Sammy Guevara vs. Trey Miguel
Rich Swann vs. Trevor Lee
Rey Fenix vs. Shane Strickland

-Beyond is on a break until September 30's "Please Come Back."

-An interesting development: the Ugly Ducklings have been booked for the 9/30 FIP show. They were last booked at FIP Heatwave 2017. I wonder if this means that they'll be booked more often by WWNLive (read: Evolve) since Doom Patrol badly needs credible opponents.

Also, for fuck's sake, Snoop Strikes gets booked in FIP, but they can't book him in Evolve.

-Evolve and SHINE haven't announced the shows that will be between now and their return to NYC in December.

-CZW's on a break until October.

Hmmmm... interesting developments on this show. EVIL, who was distraught after his loss to ZSJ, didn't show up at the end. Looks like he'll be going his separate way soon.

Think you're reading into it too much. It's not uncommon for a member of a faction who took a pin earlier in the night to not come out for the celebration if another member of their faction wins in the main event. EVIL's not going anywhere.

Pretty dull main event that didn't need to go 30+, be interesting to see what the "two stars Omega is a failure" crowd think of this one. Probably **** minimum, 'cause it's Naito.

At this point, I think the Suzuki match formula is more down to him than it is his opponents, he had similar matches with Tana and Okada. Took some big risks in this one though, I have to keep reminding myself that as much of a bad-ass as he is, he's also freakin 50 years old and working at such a relatively high level.

It's not like he was hurting after the loss, though. They also focused their attention on EVIL's expression a lot.

Maybe it's just wishful thinking by me. Because I would really love for EVIL to start his own version of the Voodoo Murders in NJPW. Also that open spot on LIJ would be great for Oka.

Suzuki and Naito just have really poor chemistry together, it seems. None of their singles matches have been particularly good. I mean, they've been okay, but at their respective levels they should be putting on matches that are more than just "okay". Shouldn't have been the main event and definitely shouldn't have been 30+ minutes.

Did BOLA finally move into a bigger space? That one twitter photo looks like a much bigger venue

Once I cam around to Suzuki, i had no knowledge of him prior to this NJPW run, I began to really love his matches and work. Sure there is a bit of a formula, esp with the limb working thing but it never bores me. It's why I love that ZSJ is workign them because I feel they're two opposites of the same person.

I can't believe Goto Vs. Taichi was the better match. But it shouldn't really shock me considering it was the fresher match, and was the more unpredictable one on this tour.

Honestly my biggest takeaway from the past couple of shows is that the most interesting storyline in New Japan currently involves YOSHI-HASHI and I don't know how to feel about that.

Destruction just always feels like they're spinning their wheels, waiting for King of Pro-Wrestling. And similarly, World Tag League's always a big ol' nothing due to Wrestle Kingdom looming.

Not exactly looking forward to a 30+ minute bad MiSu match. But at least Taichi did the damn thing.

Find a way to blame Gedo, obviously.

But yeah, at this point Suzuki's a total crapshoot. But it's not like Naito is perfect, he doesn't have great chemistry with everyone. Even his most recent match with Okada underdelivered.

Embrace the Tacos. Embrace the Loose Explosion.
This is was more interesting to me than the Aldis match.
Aldis is a professional who has a good look, but he's never been shone in the ring.

Willie Mack vs. Cody Rhodes is an interesting 3 star special.

I was going to pop on the Hiroshima show, but then I saw Omega going another 30 and I just got turned off. I can't put my finger on exactly why, but I don't need every headlining match to go 30+ minutes.

I mean, if it's good it's good, I'm not going to sweat the details. Particularly between those two. Ishii can wrestle as long as he damn well pleases.

For me it's that if I'm watching a match that very recently happened, but I'm not watching it live, I tend to skip around a bit during the matches, even if they're good matches.

Like as soon as Kenny did the springboard double stomp to the outside, I immediately forwarded 60 seconds. I know the next minute is just gonna be them writhing on the floor and then slowly making their way back to the ring, so I cut time wherever I can.

Sure, not saying that, it's more of it becoming a thing for almost every main event in NJPW. Sometimes I just want a good solid 10-15 minute match

That's the thing, these guys don't go out there expecting it to be a solid B level main event. They try to elevate it and earn the match time. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

Ideally I'd rather a big match outstay its welcome than underdeliver as a result of main event philosophy. NJPW at least has a great track record with the former. You take the good with the bad.

Absolutely and I know I'm just being whiny given my limited time to sit down and enjoy these things. Sometimes I'm all in for the wild ride and sometimes I'm not.

Curious what the KoPW plans are even now with the Ishii match out of the way and Ibushi holding himself back. Maybe Kenny takes a pin in a tag match at Long Beach or something.

Or it's big match Yano.

Pretty shocked at how solid HIAC was. There's always this toss up if the inbetween PPVs will be good or not. It's almost guarantee'd that the marquee shows will be trash because they have to try cram as much stuff in as possible, but the smaller shows seem to focus in on a few feuds and don't try to include every single performer, which I prefer. Flipping the Smackdown Women's title was super smart. I kind of actually get why they went this way. Having Becky defeat Carmella doesn't mean much but having her defeat Charlotte seems more important. I don't think they did this on purpose but it ended up feeling bigger for Becky. Hopefully they aren't just going to flip it back immediately, Becky needs a decent run here. Preferably this leads to an Asuka challenge down the line after they finish with the Women's Tag thing they do at Evolution.

Yeah it was better than expected. Even Hardy/Orton was great, and I did NOT expect that.

I went to a WWE house show this weekend.
They had ZERO merchandise for the women wrestlers. NONE.

Yeah WWE has idiotic booking blah blah blah. But that was bogus. I told my daughter ,"maybe someone forgot to bring the shirts."

I successfully managed to nod off after Joey (vs) Styles by leaving HiaC on in the background.
Imagine my confusion when I briefly woke up to see Brock Lesnar standing in the cell with a non-Foley ref calling the match a no contest, Zigs and Rollins lying in a table wreckage and Ambrose/Mcintyre dead elsewhere.
Safe to say I had to quickly rewind before going back to sleep because WHAT DA HELL?
