I just wanna see where that whole Miles thing goes.

I like the idea of playing co-op with Peter and Miles, like have a seperate co-op mode that has its own story like how splinter cell blacklist did. I thought that shit was pretty genius. Its was like two games into one.

The second installment should definitely build on the Venom/GG threads and give us some more villains, but a "Maximum Carnage"-type storyline would work great in the third installment. Yeah, it was a crappy story and it probably wouldn't be a great story in the game but the potential for some great action is there. Just throw in tons of villains and heroes in a city-wide riot with playable Spider-man, Miles and Venom.

I hope the side missions are improved on. Some of them were great, like the Taskmaster battles and the face off against Tombstone, but a lot of the other ones felt like filler. Even a little sideplot of MJ doing her own investigation, with a conclusion and everything, would be really great.

I'll be fine with more MJ missions, especially now that the Miles missions won't be.......... Miles missions

But I really hope they overhaul just the whole way the open world is structured. I'm still dumbfounded that they did 'unlock towers to reveal parts of the map'

Yeah I think this is how they should implement the MJ missions. Kinda like the Catwoman missions from Arkham City, but more expanded upon

I was happy with the characters and where they took the story. In the sequel I would mostly want mechanical improvements to things like wall crawling and stealth. Also less but better side content.

I'd like if they didn't call it Spider-Man 2. It's gonna be really shitty in the future when referencing games like God of War and Spider-Man and we'll have to include the year.

It's not really the 2nd Spider-Man outside a vacuum. Just give it a new subtitle so it can have its own place in the history of video games.

Better side missions. At some point I just got that AssCreed feeling and decided fuck all this repetitive junk and focused on the story. I don't wanna do that in open world games.

In what way is that really shitty

That for the rest of my life discussing video games I'll have to write God of War (2005) and God of War (2018). GOW(2018) is not a remake. They both are their own stories and adventures and deserve individual titling. It also bothers with DOOM, Ghostbusters (movie) and now Spider-Man.

I'm clearly being hyperbolic, it's not 'really shitty', but it's my pet peeve when movies/games re-use a title.

I'm hoping by the time it comes around they will have a much better understanding of what's going to be happening in the 'Marvel Games Universe' so they can have teases and cameos from other Marvel characters.

So about the overworld, Manhattan's still going to be a major part of the game, because the mythos of Spider-Man and New York are so intricately tied together. But they'd obviously have expand the setting (Brooklyn, Queens?) or otherwise create a new locale to refresh the game for players.

So going with the popular idea that we'll have Miles and Peter as co-protagonists in the game, what if each of them were in a seperate city? For example, Miles takes over the charge of protecting the expanded New York, while Peter leaves to explore a new threat in a different city. The game lets you switch between either and any point, and missions in each of the two areas are autonomous up to a certain point where the storylines converge.

I mean there's already two other Spider-Man's and two Spider-Man 2's. More if you include handheld ports lol. It just is what it is.

I don't think they will, but if they did something like co-op my little brother would probably cry, he wouldn't leave my place whilst I was playing it and the tease at the end got him super hyped. Would mean I'd probably have to buy him a PS5 though :/

I don't ever want to play as Miles so give me the option to play as the real Spider-Man only.

At a high level I know what I want but I'm not sure how to implement it. I want Spider-Man to have multiple "crime", "job", "relationship/MJ", "F.E.A.S.T", "mentor/Miles" etc. missions active at any given moment with it being impossible or extremely difficult to do them all. I am of course trying to gamify the struggle of trying to do everything and be Spider-Man. What I don't know is how this mechanic should work if you fall behind in one area. Like, if it results in the city turning against and attacking you if you lag behind on crime then that sucks because something like that can be annoying. Also this is something more suited to a novice Spider-Man but I think it can still work with a seasoned Spider-Man.

What if instead of making it impossible to do all, it just makes it difficult for the ones you do fall behind on?

For instance, maybe story missions involving hordes in certain distracts will have less enemies/waves because you've stopped more crime or shut down more bases in the area. And at the opposite end, maybe a story mission at F.E.A.S.T. will be a bit more difficult because you're backed up having not done enough F.E.A.S.T. side missions.

Apply the same logic to your Miles and MJ ideas. Not enough training with Miles could lead to a weaker Miles during his missions and not enough attention to MJ and she has more sass towards you lol.

Curious because I have no exposure to Spider-Man outside the Raimi movies, if Miles is playable would he potentially have different powers or are all Spidermen more or less the same?

No towers, no annoying side missions / "activities", never more than 5 icons on the map at one time.

Multiplayer. I'm sure I've said this in another thread before but it would be sick to have a friend and I swing through NY as Peter and Miles. You could throw in races and combat challenges. It would be sick.

He has all of Peter's abilities and more. Comic Miles has a natural "stinger" ability that paralyzes upon touch, and also has natural optical camouflage.

I'd be into more side-mission arcs that have, like, a 3 mission structure where you figure out something is going on, then investigate it, then confront the enemy (insert whatever minor Spider-Man villain here). Make them all a bit unique in the moment-to-moment and that's enough to satisfy me.

I also think it would be cool if you could just actually stumble across stuff without going to a dedicated map-point. Maybe make a late-game unlock that lets you actually see map-points for them (like the secret photo ops) but you naturally come across at least some of them as you play through.

Was literally talkin with my nephew earlier about what we'd like in the sequel.

1. Different weather for different arcs, such as summer, fall and winter that allows for rain and snowfall

2. Much lengthier campaign - 30-40 hours

3. Stronger and more varied villain fights

4. Green Goblin, Sandman, Venom, Kraven, the Lizard and Mysterio

5. Improved faces and hair for Peter, MJ, Norman, Miles etc.

6. An explorable sewer system to combat the Lizard who would use it as his liar and bonus if they give him the ability to tap into the lizard brain of humans and turn them into minions we have to cure much as the comics did.

Love the idea of Venom being a reoccurring villain who pops up on us at any time while we're free roaming, the inclusion of other Marvel characters, like the FF, Luke Cage, Daredevil, the Punisher and maybe even some X-Men and Avengers members as well as the GTA5 style switching between Peter and Miles. They absolutely should do that.

Miles and Peter should both be playable and it'd be nice to have other heroes show up. It was really strange that they established that this is a universe with the Avengers and everything, but when New York is thrust into huge chaos in the final act none of them show up.
Now I don't think they should put tons in or anything, but maybe at least some other street level heroes like Daredevil and a small cameo from a big time hero, none of them playable of course.

I say they should also take the existing Manhattan map and shrink it ever so slightly and add Queens and Brooklyn to make the map much larger than the original.

Like others have said, Miles and Peter both need to be playable. I'm not quite sure how they'd differentiate the two combat styles (maybe Miles uses better tech/has quicker traversal but weaker combat?) but I hope they do. Also if you're going to have MJ has a playable character, make her gameplay more interesting. I know they were trying to give the player more attachment to her and make her feel like she had more character, but there have got to be more interesting ways to do this than the stealth sections we got. And yeah, more unique side missions like Tombstone,.

Also, tweak the crime alerts so they are
  • more varied (different scenarios)
  • cleverly reactive to what the player is doing in the game (maybe if you are swinging around without a waypoint selected you encounter them more often),
  • require less of them for a 100% completion (or just don't require them at all).
And for the love of god, let me take the minimap off the screen.

One last thing that I think could be cool.

With the idea of reoccurring villains idea, how about after we beat the game, and in keeping with how the comics often allow it anyway, have the villains continuously break out in the post game in different waves that we have to go after and defeat so in essence we never quite run out of things to do in the game.

And if that isn't feasible, give us Venom or Kraven whom we can fight off but they continue coming after us in free roam even after the main story is complete.

More world encounters, as many people are saying. Also it would be cool if they kept the map we have now, update it a little (like a nice little detail would be to have the construction sites be fully built in the sequel - that sort of thing), and expand the map opening up the borders to the rest of NY.

More varied encounters.

Include other Marvel characters.

Be able to quick-switch web abilities. Were the side buttons on the D pad used for anything? Being able to hotkey your favorites would be handy.

I want Kraven as the main villain and for the game to play Homage to Kraven's last hunt. Sprinkle in the origins of Green Goblin, and then go full on for the third.

The game screams for Yakuza style side missions to break the action. They could range from anything from meeting another super hero or a super villain to saving a cat from a tree to appearing on JJJ's podcast. Some action, some laughs, some drama.

More boss fights would be welcome. Ones that occur in the world at random, ones tied to the story and side missions. The fights should take cues from Dark Souls where each boss requires unique tactics to defeat him/her. The Mr. Negative fights have a bit of this as you can see what attack he is going to do and dodge accordingly but still most of the fights devolve into "dodge attack, throw environment object at boss, get a few punches in" when instead it should encourage using all the gear and moves at your disposal to whittle down a boss health bar.

I would also love to be able to play as Venom. Would work with existing mechanics but allow a different perspective and a different set of missions with different special moves. For example Venom could do more melee damage but be a bit slower to move.

No activities on maps. The web swinging is so fun that finding things organically should be rewarded by finding a side mission or collectible or random encounter. These could still be tied to things like landmarks so you have some idea where to look for them but you would not know what you would find. Getting repetition out of encounters would be helped by tying them to a story similar to how Witcher 3 handles them.
