This assumes way more thought on the part of the average pollster than they actually put into the rankings. They just move teams up a little when they win and down a little when they lose. The problem in this particular case is that there's nothing else in terms of actual results to suggest any other relative ranking of the three teams, just a bunch of preseason hype. Again the real solution here is to rank none of these teams right now.Pollsters won't completely factor out previously held expectations for a while (or ever). Just because one team beat another doesn't mean they're the "better" team, just that they won that day. It's a big factor for ranking, but not the only one.

Aggie roomie thinks they cover 26 points against Bama. Took that bet.
They have given Bama good games even when they have been abysmal. You never know :P
So my office is awful quiet today (Tallahassee). Nobody's talking about college football today.
I wonder why *thinking emoji*
I'm 3 seconds away from pissing everyone off, lol. My co-worker who doesn't watch college football is egging me on, too xD
We're building a backup Death Star not far away!

You know I was thinking about that same thing this morning. The Death Star had a weakness and just like that, Bama has a weakness that everyone knows about. The placekicking has been an issue for years. Almost lost them the game in the NC last year. I don't get how Saban has been able to get everything clicking except for that.
Specialists are definitely a different breed and you have to have someone working with them that gets them. They're very fragile.Kicking is such a weird thing to recruit a player to do. The position is full of headcases, and I feel like Bama's string of misses at the position is a self-fulfilling prophecy at this point; the kickers know that everyone expects them to miss and they go out there and do just that.
Bama hasnt played a defense ranked better than 80th this season and wont until LSU and Miss. Not saying they arent legit because bama looks the best they have in years (and thats saying something) but lets pump the breaks a bit.
Urban has his first press conference at 11:45 today so we'll hear more of his shit.

Was also the first time anyone saw Tua for an extended period of time and where UGA had prepared for Jalen. Tua also went 14/24 for 166 yards, 3 TDs and 1 INT. Not exactly lit up.Mnah.
Same offense lit up a pretty damn great defense in UGA to win the natty, in one half. I ain't pumping shit on that side of the ball.
Now, the defense I understand taking the wait and see approach with (I can't believe I just typed that).

Of course there was tape on him. But going into that game, nobody expected him to play. Jalen was the guy. And he was, until he had 21 yards passing at halftime. Tua definitely moved the offense better than the quicksand that Jalen had, but it's undoubtedly different to prepare for a guy that rushes first and can't complete anything to someone like Tua who is capable of running an offense.26 points against a top 5 defense in two quarters and an OT possession is pretty damn great, by any measure.
I enjoy the "there was no tape on Tua" bit, and am curious to see if that's gonna be a thing by season's end.
Those 166 yards Tua threw weren't the only yards the offense generated; I'm not just talking about him, I'm talking about the whole unit. They played a pretty great half of football against y'all, and y'all are a stout defense.
Not arguing Tua is some worldbeater on his own; just that the offense is pretty great, whoever they've played.

They go to [freshman quarterback] Tua [Tagovailoa] in the second half. Was that something you expected to see in this game?
KIRBY SMART: Yes, absolutely. We talked long about it and talked about the ways we play him. We played enough snaps. We'd seen him on tape. We told everybody at halftime there was no question they were going to him because they were struggling and they needed some momentum. He provided them some juice, got them some momentum, got the momentum swung back their way.

UGA was a good defense but the DB Tua put all his stats on was the weak link and is now gone. That's really the weakest team Smart will have, talent wise.
The Bama offense is humming along well now. Let's just see what they do when they play better defenses.
