Oh really? Neat.
I still don't think they'd necessarily use an old or alternate take, though.

On the other hand for Bowser Jr they just reuse the "Bowser" and slap a new recording of "Junior" on so...I guess it could go either way, really.
God, its been a while since I've listened to that interview, but I feel like he mentioned that the juxtaposition in sound was the joke for Bowser Jr... maybe he was talking about someone else, though.

What I do remember for certain is that he wanted Phoenix and Layton to join Smash when asked for his personal picks. We've got an agent on the inside on the right side of history.

What are the chances of this bootiful guy being a newcomer?

310

After Rosalina and Bowser Jr's inclusions, I'd say he's next on the list for other Mario characters.

I don't think they should even bother with Mario characters at this point outside of Toad and Waluigi. Everyone else is too small a player that I'd rather see a different IP get the newcomer.

I actually think Midgar may have some Octopath and Braverly rips on it. And any SMRPG music would be shared between Midgar and Mario stages, just to beef Midgar music up a bit.

If Terra or any other Final Fantasy character gets in as a second Square Enix rep over Geno and Sora, there's going to be a salt explosion in here.
I'm probably an outlier because I think Sora's really lame and Terra's pretty cool. If I want any of these two throw around classic Final Fantasy spells, I'd rather it be the latter.
but best case scenario for me would be for DQ to make it in in some form instead
The really fascinating part of this will be when data miners tear through the retail game and tell us what characters we almost got.
That Rhythm Heaven icon will still be there, tormenting us.
A terrible timeline

As someone who hasn't really played Dragon Quest, what would there moveset need to be to standout?
A fusion of Link and Zelda. Basically a magic knight who puts more emphasis on melee attacks than Robin does. If they don't want to do that, they can pull from other games in the series and give them multiple different weapon types.

Every newcomer so far has come from a series with 2 or fewer characters. Just something to keep in mind when expecting a Mario or Zelda character. It's possible we might not even get a pokemon, though I'd say that's unlikely.

And Sakurai would know that many people would have his head if we are going to have second Bayonetta in our roster. I can see those salts coming so much if Jeanne got in.
I don't think Sakurai cares at all how salty or not some people get on the Internet. No matter what someone will always be "salty" about something and those people are always a small enough group that they can safely be ignored.

Any echo fighter, including Jeanne, would be completely inoffensive. Anyone who gets upset about an echo for any reason is being ridiculous.

I wonder if we'd get any more Nintendo Land music

It's a different remix than the Samus Returns version that's in already. This one is a bit more close to the SNES original, rather than Magmoor, like the SR version.

Those songs wouldn't be in the Metroid section, but rather the Other section where we have like 80 unknown songs

I'd love Jeanne!

I can easily see the "junior" meant to be silly as part of the joke (and, it is very good) but it really sounds like they just took 2 sound clips and put them togerther. Which is funny since i thiiiiink that Zero Suit Samus, Dark Pit & Dr. Mario have distinct singular clips
The Mii's unused clips do too I think.

Swordsman character with a bunch of spells. They also could throw in an attack with monster helpers since that's a mechanic in a couple of games (V, VI and VIII. VII's hero could become a monster under certain conditions) and there are iconic monster designs like the obvious Slime.

If Final Fantasy struggles to get 2 tracks in, how do Dragon Quest fans think that game stands a chance of representation given it never appeared on any Virtual console, not on any mini until the Shonen Jump Famicom mini, and that Sugiyama's role over copyright makes music even more of a pain than FF to get in Smash?

Square has no issue re-releasing DQ games in the past, they just don't make it over here. The Wii had a collection (never came out here). There are mobile ports of basically all the games. They've released remakes of games pretty consistently on the DS and 3DS.

I should noted that I was joking. Sorry.
