They're selling those separately? I bought the PS4 Collection with both games for ~$13 a while back
Can't bundle the games on one Vita cart without making a whole new build/game. Can't sell two carts for the price of one either since Vita carts are expensive.

I'm sure a lot of people will be divided on this one, but we are trying our best to make it work and make sense.

I've been too excited about these games for too long not to grab them now (feels like a lifetime ago Image & Form started teasing them).

I do feel like you'll get some pushback on them though.

LRG is gonna need to do reveals a little bit earlier now lest they allow the ESRB to do all their reveals for them in a very unhyped way.

i don't mind this because it'll probably be a month or 2 before the game actually comes out instead of it being 2 weeks or so before the game is out

Same. I don't need or want hype for a release. I just want to know what it is, if it is any good, and the release date. But, I recognize not everyone buys like this or wants this; hype and excitement is a big thing for some.

I knew Wonderboy was coming to retail on Switch, but didn't realise there was a PS4 SKU as well.
https://www.amazon.com/Wonder-Boy-D...02-20&linkId=c542fcedd4ae54b448b3ddbd245df0e7

Kinda kills the point if LRG games aren't exclusive right? I know there is an Asian release for Wonderboy, but that was at least in a different market.

LRG never claimed to have exclusive rights. In fact, they've been pretty transparent about not retaining any publishing rights after the run is done.

In reality, only a few games have been reprinted, and they're usually bigger titles. The only people this really hurts are resellers (which are few in this case) and people who want their games to be more valuable.

i thought after the soldner x-2 thing either josh or doug had mentioned that they usually had a 1 year exclusivity on physical releases

Here's their event for Black Friday.

"Throughout the day on Friday, we'll be dropping a very small portion of our leftovers from past sales. We will be selling off all of our leftovers from 2017 on January 1st, 2018.

Nothing being listed is a reprinting or repressing - these are leftovers from our regular sales. With each sale we have to reserve around 5 - 10 percent of the stock of each game to replace damaged or lost shipments. We only ever utilize a very small portion of this so we eventually have to sell off what we have left! This is just a very small portion of those leftovers - if you miss what you want, mark January 1st, 2018 on your calendar as we'll list more of these titles as well as other stuff not going up on Friday (like collector's editions).

The games that will see random drops on Friday are:
  • Furi: Definitive Edition (PS4) 30 copies
  • Night Trap: 25th Anniversary Edition (PS4 + PC) 50 copies
  • Jotun Valhalla Edition (PS4) 30 copies
  • Oceanhorn (PS4 + Vita) 30 copies
  • Dariusburst Chronicle Saviours (Vita) 15 copies
  • Plague Road (PS4 + Vita) 30 copies
  • Stealth Inc. (PS4 + Vita) 30 copies
  • Flame in the Flood (PS4) 30 copies
  • Risk of Rain (PS4 + Vita) 10 copies
  • Mutant Mudds (PS4 + Vita) 10 copies
  • The Silver Case (PC) 30 copies
Make sure to keep an eye on our site throughout the day and follow us on Twitter and Facebook to catch when these drops go up!"

I don't really like that the times are unknown, but thankfully I don't need any of these, so I can safely pass.

They should have more to sell on January 1, 2018. So as long as you get yours shipped before then. Hope you get it shipped soon.

The thing is that my first held order got shipped and after that whole drama, it came missing Dariusburst. I requested that it got shipped with my remaining held orders, but they missed again in the invoice. I'm currently waiting for the package to arrive just to be able to tell them that, again, the game wasn't included with the order. You can tell by both invoices, but I'll have to wait nonetheless.

I've never heard that before, but I have heard Josh and Doug both say publishing rights revert back to devs as soon as their LRG print is released.

Not sure how I feel about Super Gunworld 2. Normally, I'd be all for it since it's a retro side scroller, but $29.99 for a game that normally costs 7.99 feels a bit... prohibitive.

Yeah, I get you. I'm still waiting for my copy of Asdivine Hearts that they failed to include in my order twice.

Shrug. No clue. The email I just got says $29.99, unless that's a typo. It comes with a 16-page color manual and five trading cards, but I still don't think that justifies a $30 price tag.

Real talk, does anyone actually care about the trading cards? They're neat, I guess, but I kinda preferred the post cards, and if they're inflating the cost, I'd rather not have them at all (I'd be okay with really nice manuals, however). The only upside is that the trading cards fit inside the occasional Vita-only game I buy.

I'm pretty sure the price jump is because of the recent ESRB nonsense. By the way all, I'm the Super GunWorld 2 dev. There was some concern on my end about even being $25 when the core game costs $8, but there's been some pretty low priced games released at $25 on Limited Run and that's the minimum price they're able to do for a release. You're more paying for the luxury of having the physical copy than anything else for games like mine.

As far as that's concerned though, there's a fair amount of content in the game. It's not massive, but it's comparable to the vanilla Shovel Knight in terms of length. There's more to the game than most people realize within the first hour. I actually have long felt that the $8 price was underselling the game and it was worth more than that, but the original game had a poor reputation so I remember purposefully undercharging for the game (in terms of my perceived value) as a way of enticing people back in who hated the first.

The Metacritic for Super is trending to be pretty darn good, but we never got a 4th review to give it an actual score lol.

Thank you for the clarification and your thoughts on the issue. Could someone from LRG comment on whether the price bump is going to be the new normal going forward?

Any chance you'll port it to the Vita?

I was going to ask the same thing. They said Windjammers was $29.99 because of the companies involved, but there doesn't seem to be any reason for Super GunWorld 2 to have a $22 premium over the digital price.

Edit: Missed the response above. Thanks superNESjoe

At this point no. I'm concerned I wouldn't even recoup the costs of the devkit, let alone the actual time it would take to do the port. If I knew I could use the Vita as a viable platform for my next couple of games, then I'd do it just knowing that in the end it'd be worth it, but I won't be able to bring any future games to Vita either.

It's a bummer, because I actually wanted to put it on Vita to begin with, it'd be a great fit.

Oh and they had stated the ESRB thing wouldn't affect end user prices. It's probably the manual.

But it's odd that the dev isn't sure?

Can't they manufacture more copies to offset that cost? It's going to take a weekend for most games to sell out anyway.

Yeah I guess you'd have to ask them! I'm sure one of them will join the thread at some point.

I'm fairly certain there have been sub-$10 games before on LRG.

Nope. Listed at $29.99 on their site as well.

Also, thirded for missing the days when inventory was available to ship immediately.

The trend I dislike the most.

Same. Missing the days when they had em on hand

But I thought y'all wanted a pre-order system?

Honestly, you probably picked the two best choices from the current inventory list! If you're interested in some nice side-scrolling shoot-'em-up action, Dariusburst might be worth checking out although I would recommend seeking out the PS4 version from a resolution perspective. It looks pretty condensed on a handheld screen as the original version of the title was designed with a multi-screen arcade cabinet in mind along with an oddball "online" cmponent that's meant to chip away at a monstrous game mode supporting approximately 190 levels worth of bullet grinding on top of it have having several exclusive bosses. However, Darius does support a traditional, offline story mode that offers unlimited lives at the cost of scoring points so anyone that doesn't care for the competitive aspect of the niche genre can breeze through every single one of the aquatic mechs without too much of an issue. I'd recommend doing a little extra research on this recommendation as it's one of the biggest grabs from the LRG collection in my eyes, but it'll require excess dedication if you're gunning for trophies and nabbing the PS4 version might be a rough task now that it was sold out back earlier in the year.

Never heard of your game before. I will try and snag a copy from the LRG release this Friday. Too bad that there would be no Vita port

I don't know what to do about Gunworld 2. It seems a tad overpriced, and it's releasing alone, in only two days.
I'll try to make an opinion by then but the timing is super short.

That would have been more clever to release it alongside some other games...

I think the "clever" part is making the run low and playing up with that it will be super rare with only 2000 copies ever made. I don't doubt it will sell just based off that and people thinking they can make a quick buck in the future for people who want the full collection

The game is set at $29.99 for the following reasons:
1. The print size was low enough to where in this case the ESRB fee would have made this release impossible.
2. The game has an awesome manual which added to the costs.
3. The game comes with 5 trading cards.
4. We wanted to help support the developer.

We don't plan on adding a fee for the ESRB costs as we said we don't want to do that, but for super small runs, it's required or else no one is making any money at all. To be fair my Twitter is constantly tweeted at by people saying they'd pay more to help fight the ESRB costs.

It's only 2,000 copies because we've seen a lot of our sales slow down lately. Could be due to holidays, but regardless we don't imagine this selling out that fast. We also want Joe's game to be a success!

It's still in manufacturing because Sony seems to still be behind right now. When we put Nex Machina on sale we had ordered the game over a month ago and still didn't have a ship date yet for example.

In reference to number 4, it feels really unethical to charge your customers more when you're friends with the dev and want to get them more money. Why didn't the cost of manuals in the past cause the price to rise? You could've always, y'know, not made five trading cards too.

I mean, that's clever in a way, but soooo impractical for customers ^^

ESRB is the most proeminent explanation I think, that's why it was n°1.
Otherwiser, yeah, nb 2 - 3 - 4 wouldn't make much sense.

I mean, why isn't Claire up $5 then? Do the 500 copies really make that much of a difference? If the game costs $8 digitally, you're trying to tell me that there's no profit to be made at the previous floor price of $24.99?
