Yeah. Who would have thought? The Switch has been really successful with indie platformers and stuff on the system, but I don't like playing them in portable mode while traveling. The precision isn't there for something like Super Meat Boy.
But this? Could totally just sit in the backseat of a car and noodle around at a city. Would love to see a lot more sims and low-impact games on the system.
Can you imagine if they were somehow able to get Planet Coaster running on Switch? I feel it could never ever happen but a person can dream...

Ugh I need to have a word with some people on how to get an over 100k population city on PC, my commercial zones all stop receiving imports and goods before then. My train lines all become super saturated, too, so having cargo trains come to my city like clockwork doesn't even help.
Also, for the Switch version, do they have the unlimited money option and everything unlocked options (which were technically pre-installed mods in the PC version)? I only really play with those options on, as I'm usually more interested in building weird train cities than anything else haha.
I saw options for both at the start. I did not personally choose them since I'm new to the game and they sound like cheats, but they're there! Enjoying the game so far, btw, glad I took the plunge.
I distinctly remember some people in the Direct thread wishing for this very game to come out on Switch and and many others laughing at the idea because "Lol that CPU can't take it". Until it comes out and has no cut features.IMO, feels like a very strange title to do a DF analysis on, where the CPU AI is most likely a big bottleneck for a game like this.

I hope someone answers this because this always rubs me the wrong way with city builders.OK noob question: I unlocked some transit options like cycle lanes, but I fail to see how I could now integrate them into my roads without bulldozing swathes of buildings. Am I supposed to plan "next time" and build roads with gaps on them or something? Or just start adding these things to new sections of my city, along with stuff like tram lines if I go for that?
How's the framerate? It looked absolutely appalling on the Direct.

Maybe DF would have some interest in this, who knows.
What I want is the Natural Disasters expansion to come, I wanna have fun with meteors and tsunamis.

Oh, I'm sure I can deal with that if it means I can create crazy disasters :)Thanks! All I needed to know to justify buying the Switch version now.
I'm honestly not too fond of the natural disasters expansion. To be fair, I never played with disasters in in Sim City either, but in Skylines, even if you disable disasters, pretty much every small fire by a forest is going to turn into a gigantic forest fire lol. And the fire watch towers don't alert me about the fire either (I guess since that kind of fire isn't technically an in-game disaster unlike the "Forest Fire" disaster), so what usually happens is I play the game for a while, suddenly notice a couple of firetrucks wailing down the road, I zoom out, then am greeted to about 1/4 of my land on fire haha.

Sure. Its very easy to get into and it has a good tutorlial mode. Just focus on making profit initially. Dont build too much stuff you dont need. Once your in the plus, you have plenty of time to figure out how to expand your city.I'm a complete simulation novice, is this a good game to essentially start with?
This thread convinced me. Definitely seems like a game I will sink a lot of time into in handheld mode. Is it always so 'free' or does it give you objectives?

What's the best way to plan ifrastructure in the city? My city is growing (at 12 000 currently), and I need to replace some older, smaller roads with new, bigger ones. I thought I could demolish them and easily replace them, but it's really hard to create the same exact straight line. What happens is that the buildings on both sides of the new road gets demolished, because the road isn't a perfect fit.

Use the upgrade road option. If you have small roads you want to make the four-lane type, select that bigger road type; hold Y and the use the stick to select Upgrade. Now when you highlight an old small road, you'll be shown the cost to upgrade and any demolition of zones that will occur. Do this along the sections to follow the exact same road path.
Has anyone had an issue with the software crashing when booting up? Just can't get the game to start at all on the Switch.
So I'm stuck at 2500 and I'm losing money fast! I've taken two loans and still run out of money. I raised taxes to about 18 percent and people started leaving.
Not sure what to do.

Lower some services budget in the budget screen, also, raise the taxes a bit.So I'm stuck at 2500 and I'm losing money fast! I've taken two loans and still run out of money. I raised taxes to about 18 percent and people started leaving.

Thanks for the suggestion, Ill check it out. This might be a stupid question, but you do have a bus depot that can reach the stops, right? Check to see what bus funding is like, you can pour more money in for more buses, iirc.

Now that you've mentioned it, I have played the PC game with so many mods, I am thinking the Nintendo Switch edition is like a completely different game.My city on PC with over 200k pop had an oversize busses mod applied. Going back to the base game does change things.
I also had incinerators that could handle a lot more garbage. As well as the 25 tile unlock mod.
There's a lot of little things I downloaded over time that made a huge city like that possible. Will be interesting to see how big I can get my city without all the crutches.

Yes, indeed, it was one of those early hurdles when I found out my road layouts were causing troubles, and I have to gradually acclimate my mindset so I can redesign them better.I've learned to not get to attached to any part of your city. It's ok to bulldoze city blocks and old areas to make room for new features and the betterment of your city
Just bit the bullet and bought this, was looking for something to sink time into other than Fortnite and this is exactly what I need. Spent so much time playing on PC and never tried the expansions until now.
